Chapter 9

George sensed something was off, but faced with her radiant smile, he couldn't pinpoint what felt wrong.

Oh well, at least she wasn't angry anymore.

"Where are you going?" he asked casually.

"I made plans to go shopping with Sadie and Flora. I'm heading out."

"Go ahead. Buy whatever you want—don't worry about saving money."

Louisa laughed inwardly. Of course she wouldn't save—she earned him millions of dollars every year. Why should she pinch pennies for other women to spend?

She left home, got in her car, and went to meet her two friends.

Although they were supposedly going shopping, she had a more important task today: interviewing for a new job.

When she arrived at the agreed-upon café, Sadie and Flora Young were already there.

They had ordered drinks and were sitting at a round table, facing each other with phones in hand, chatting while scrolling their screens.

Louisa took the empty seat between them.

Sadie pushed one of the coffee cups toward her. "Latte, no sugar."

"You know me well." Louisa removed the lid and took a sip.

Noticing they were still glued to their phones, she asked casually, "What are you looking at? Any news today?"

Flora held her phone up for Louisa to see. "David Foster, the brother-in-law of the Taylor Group's CEO, is being sued by Dreamscape Club."

Louisa was momentarily stunned. David was being sued?

Could it be because of last night's incident?

She immediately took Flora's phone to read more. The headline read: #Taylor Group CEO's Brother-in-Law David Foster Sued by Dreamscape Club for Attempted Rape.

The article didn't provide many details, offering no description of the incident or revealing Louisa's name—just the editor's various speculations.

Flora and Sadie, unaware that Louisa was the central figure in this story, continued discussing it casually.

"That fucking scumbag," Flora cursed. "I've heard he's pressured female clients for sexual favors multiple times. Finally someone's taking him down."

Sadie nodded. "Scumbags are despicable, but let's be objective. When these incidents happen within a club and the perpetrator doesn't succeed, venues typically keep quiet to protect their reputation. Why would they do the opposite and sue a client?"

Flora replied, "That's what ordinary clubs would do. But Dreamscape Club is a premium venue under the Tudor Group. The Tudor family is among Silverlight City's elite and upholds humanitarian principles. They probably wouldn't stoop to the backroom dealings of average clubs."

Sadie countered, "By your logic, shouldn't the Tudor Group release the full truth? Why are they being vague and leaving themselves vulnerable to criticism?"

Flora shook her head. "Who knows?"

Listening to their conversation, Louisa suddenly remembered that Dreamscape Club was indeed owned by the Tudor Group.

Though she couldn't recall the man's face, she remembered how he approached her with an aura of immense power and nobility.

Could he be a leader within the Tudor Group?

She was about to ask Flora when Flora happened to glance her way.

Noticing Louisa's outfit, Flora fingered the fabric with exasperation. "Didn't I tell you to wear a cute, casual dress? What is this you're wearing?"

Louisa defended herself, "This is literally my most casual outfit, and I'm going for an interview. Isn't this appropriate?"

Flora was speechless. "Darling, men are visual creatures, especially at a golf club. We're not going to the Tudor Group headquarters."

The Tudor Group's current job openings weren't suitable for Louisa—they would all be beneath her abilities.

Flora had heard from her friend Wallace Morgan that Julian needed a chief secretary and hadn't found the right candidate.

Conveniently, Wallace had arranged to play golf with Julian today.

Flora had called in a favor, and she planned to bring Louisa directly to the golf course.

She glared at Louisa. "I traded on my looks to get you this opportunity. Don't mess it up, you hear me?"

Louisa responded good-naturedly, "Thank you, Ms. Young. I won't let your 'looks' go to waste."

Fortunately, they were at a shopping mall, so buying clothes was easy.

Next, Louisa allowed herself to be styled by Flora.

Finally, Flora selected a cool golf outfit for her—a white sleeveless T-shirt that hugged her body, showcasing her slender, perfect waistline, and a deep gray pleated skirt that revealed her long, snow-white legs.

Her long hair was casually tied into a ponytail, pulled through the back of a baseball cap.

She looked fresh and ethereal, stunningly beautiful.

Flora whispered to Sadie, "Look at our Louisa—a true chameleon. Artistic, professional, mature, innocent—she masters every style perfectly.

"I don't know if George has gone blind. How could that Vivian compare to our Louisa in any way?"

Sadie gestured for her to lower her voice.

However, Louisa had already overheard; she just pretended not to.

After paying, the three women left the clothing store.

Sadie returned to her law firm, while Flora and Louisa drove together to Golden Tee Golf Club.

Louisa repeatedly looked down at her outfit. "Are you sure this is appropriate?"

The more she looked, the more uncomfortable she felt.

Flora glanced at Louisa's smooth, sexy legs while driving. "With legs like those, I'm dying of jealousy. Men would probably kill to be with you. Have some confidence, will you?"

Louisa laughed helplessly. "I'm going for an interview, not to seduce anyone."

Flora replied, "Julian Tudor, the third son of the Tudor family, elite aristocrat, head of the Tudor Group—he's practically mythical. What would be wrong with seducing him into a sweet romance?"

"Stop!" Louisa immediately protested. "I'm only interested in my career right now. Men are off the table."

Besides, didn't every romance start out sweet?

After her experience with George, Louisa felt she had seen through all worldly illusions.

As they talked, they arrived at the club's parking lot.

Flora parked the car and walked arm-in-arm with Louisa toward the entrance.

The two beautiful women—one cool and ethereal, the other bright and charming—immediately attracted many men's attention.

They walked toward their agreed meeting spot.

As they reached the center of the golf course, they spotted a tall figure standing in the sunlight.
