Chapter 3 THE VOICE
AMIRA'S POV.
Trembling, I crawled back from this beast scared of what it might do to me if I shouted. I've not been this afraid before.
“Who are you?” I questioned, my voice shaking.
“Oh! You still don't know who I am. What a silly question! I came out of your body and you're asking me who I am.” She laughed.
I came to a stop on hearing the wolf.
The vibrancy of the wolf was something else.
“Did the death of our unborn baby take away your senses, Amira?” The wolf said, letting out a smile.
“Our unborn baby?” I muttered.
I grinned, and that is when it dawned on me, and something started screaming in my head.
“My Wolf! My Wolf! You're my Wolf?”
“You can call me Doreen” The wolf chuckled.
I couldn't believe this as I stared at this green-eyed beast. I kept thinking how this could be possible.
“I don't have a wolf. What are you actually saying?” I refused what he said.
I watched her growl in anger.
“Who do you want to believe? Those idiots that know nothing about you or would you believe your own eyes?” She questioned.
I was quietly looking at myself, reminding myself where she came from.
“Believe it, Amira. Believe it.” She called my attention back.
I turned back, still staring at the green-eyed beast.
“You've always had a wolf.” She said.
“Always? How? “ I questioned, shock laced over my face.
It was at the point that she revealed to me that she had been inside of me since but that I can't hear her.
She had been keeping an eye on me, but didn't know how to communicate that to me all this time.
“You were about to take a drastic decision, which was what connected us together. If not, you may not be speaking at this time.” She said crossing my paws.
I looked at her and knew what she meant.
Augustine's decision to drive me out after all my sacrifices and all the good things that I've done.
The same reality was what connected both of us..
I went ahead and believed everything she had asked. It was at this point that I asked her about her origin.
She was not like every other wolf. Some wolves you see with blue, golden, or red eyes, but a wolf with green eyes, I've not seen before.
She started and called me a VYZ, a rare lineage of wolves said to be extinct years ago.
VUZ wolves are triggered by an iota of rage and the wolf will fire. That was how Doreen was able to reveal her origin to me.
“You allowed those fools to treat you like trash because you don't know who you are. You don't know where you're coming from. After all you've gone through and your sacrifices including our baby's death, you wanted to sign those papers. You don't do that.” She scoffed.
“See, we're called VYZ for a reason. We don't give in that easily or allow anyone step on our toes. It's not allowed. Our middle name is Poison. When you hurt you, we come really hard for whoever it is and revenge.
“Did you know the reason I said you should not sign those papers?”
“Now, Amira, do you want to go ahead and sign those papers, leave, and allow him to enjoy all that you've laboured for, or would you want to show him what the true power of a VYZ is?” She gave me two choices to choose from.
I didn't know which to choose because I was still overwhelmed by the sudden revelation. It was all looking like I was dreaming or watching a movie, but all these things were happening right before me.
“I don't know.” I lifted my gaze to Doreen, and lo and behold, she was gone.
Twenty-four hours were over.
Augustine and Constance came knocking on my door.
I was lost in thought that I didn't hear them knocking. They finally pushed my door open when I heard them and stepped to open the door.
Constance pushed me as she walked inside with Augustine and her red designer's gown.
“You should know why I am here? Where are the divorce papers? I believe by now you would have been done. My lawyer will soon be here for it.” Augustine asked, harshly.
I ignored him as I was not ready for their drama that morning. I walked to the place I kept it and handed it over to Augustine.
He quickly opened it.
“What? You've not signed these papers till now, even when I told you that you should do it within twenty-four hours, that my lawyer will soon ask for it.” He spoke in rage.
She came closer, suggesting to him to throw me out of the house.
“This fool still thinks she's the Luna of this Pack. Just kick her out so that she can face her reality.
When I heard Constance, I responded with my head bowed.
“It's not that I don't want to sign these papers, but can't sign them after the promise I made to your late Alpha.”
I went ahead to remind him of the promise.
“Please give me four months, let me stay and make you happy like I promised your father. After you and your love are happily married, I can now leave for good thereby fulfilling the promise I made to your father.” I requested, lifting my head to look back at Augustine.
He lifted his brow, staring at me. I knew a lot was going through his mind . Constance mockingly laughed.
“You must be mad if you think we'll….”
“Alright then…Augustine accepted her
“I'll allow you to stay for four months. Once you're about to leave, you sign the divorce papers and get out. Is that understood?”
“Yes, my Alpha,” I responded.
Augustine's decision and response to me got Constance mad at him and told him to reject the wish because it was highly manipulative.
But Augustine refused.
“It was my father's wish for her to always make me happy. So allow her, it would even be better, and mock her. I would want everyone to see me and how she would be leaving everything that makes her a Luna and hand them over to you. Wouldn't that be nice? He asked, caressing her face.
She nodded and bought the decision immediately..
“Remember, she's wolfless and can't even survive for one month. Trust me, forget about Amira, she is a nobody” Augustine mocked as he and Constance left.
I watched them as they left.
That was when I heard Doreen
“You’ve chosen wisely, Amira. Very good.”
