Chapter 2 GIVE ME FOUR MONTHS

 AMIRA'S POV.

The smell of the drug came streaming into my nose. I felt choked by it, swaying my head to drive the scent away.

Due to the irritation, my eyes opened instantly. I found myself staring at a different ceiling, unlike the one I was familiar with.

“Where am I?” I uttered while still looking.

A beeping sound got my attention. I looked to the side and found myself being attached to a drip with a life support.

“This is the hospital.” I realized that forcing myself to sit up.

That's when the door opened, and a doctor walked in.

“Oh! Luna, you're awake. How are you feeling? She said and drew closer to me.

“Doctor Racheal,” I called out recognizing her.

She's the pack mansion's doctor.

She was the one who tested and revealed my pregnancy to me. She placed her hand against my forehead and suggested I lie down for a little while to rest.

“You had a fall and lost some blood. But you'll be fine. Just rest.” She suggested slowly, lying me down.

When I heard what she said about the bleeding, my mind immediately went to the baby in my womb.

“What about my baby? Is it okay?

Doctor Racheal stared at me with no words. Her facial expression was beginning to frighten me as she sighed and said.

“I'm sorry, Luna. We couldn't save your baby.”

“What?

She explained to me how the fall caused a miscarriage, thereby killing the baby.

“I know it's disheartening to hear his news about my Luna. Even your husband was shattered and was shocked when he heard it before he left. Please take heart and take it easy on yourself.” She apologized.

When she mentioned Augustine's name, my mind flashed back to what had happened. How he pushed me down the stairs and the look in his eyes.

He was excited watching me bleed.

I held the side of the bed in pain and placed my hand in the position where I always feel my baby.

But this time, nothing was there.

My baby was gone. It was like a movie. I could not believe my ears. I pinched myself to be sure that all these things were not happening in a dream.

I broke out in tears and cried loudly with so much pain in my heart. I've never felt such pain in my life before.

The doctor tried to calm me, embracing me.

I calmed myself a little listening to the doctor who suggested I lie on my head a little because, according to her, my body at this point is very fragile and needs adequate rest.

According to her, Augustine didn't want me to stay long in the hospital. He wanted me back so that he could pacify me.

“You and your husband need each other during this period to scale through this season. But believe me, you'll come out strong. Please take some rest before I discharge you.”

She left me to wallow in my pains. A lot was going through my mind at this point.

Despite my being a wolfless orphan, Augustine's father loved me and my father so much.

He made me promise him on his dying bed that I would not leave his son, but would always be with him and make him happy.

After resting at the hospital, I was brought back by one of Augustine's guards. I expected him to be the one to pick me up but I didn't see him.

On getting to the mansion, I went inside just to see Augustine and Constance already waiting for me.

They were at the entrance mockingly welcoming me back. I didn't reply to them because I was very weak, and like the doctor told me, I needed enough rest, so I ignored them and continued walking.

Constance, seeing that I didn't respond, came to me and mocked me about my dead baby.

“That bastard deserved what he got. It was not meant to live. So, Mother of the dead baby, welcome home. You think you can ruin my relationship with Augustine with this pregnancy?”

Her words struck so hard in my chest like a sword that I held it so that I could ease the pain a little.

I still couldn't say a word because of my state.

“Take this,” Augustine tossed a paper before me.

“This is the divorce papers, and you're meant to sign within twenty-four hours. My lawyer would come to pick it up as soon as you're done.”

I could not believe my eyes. I opened the papers to see that Augustine had signed everything. I was the one remaining to sign.

I felt shivers down my spine as I watched Augustine and Constance go back upstairs and make love right before me.

I felt so shattered and wondered why they would be doing this to me knowing fully well that I was recuperating.

The pain was so much that I ran to my room and locked myself in, crying uncontrollably.

“Moon Goddess, you permit all these to be happening to me. What's my offence?”

I opened the papers again and decided to sign them so that I could please him and leave for good.

Just then, something flashed through my mind. I remembered the day Augustine's father told my father his intentions for me to be his daughter-in-law. My father broke the news to me and I accepted.

Now the marriage I entered with joy will soon be terminated through divorce.

I brought out my pen to sign the papers when something happened.

“Don't sign those papers, Amira.” A maidenlike voice ordered, planting fear in my heart.

I rose to my feet, looking for who had spoken to me.

“Who's there?” I questioned while looking around the room.

The moment my eyes fell on the mirror, I met two green eyes darting back at me.

This looked so strange that I almost screamed out.

I fell on my knees feeling the pain inside of me. It was as though my stomach was about to explode.

Just then, a clear green light came out of me and formed something that mesmerized me.

I stared at this and was bewildered.

A mighty black wolf was looking directly at me.

“Don't sign it, Amira. That's not the way of the VYZ.

Its eyes glowed as it grinned at me.

The word VYZ struck me and I wondered what that could mean. I've never heard that name in my life.

I was shaken by the presence of this mighty wolf in my room.

The aura from it was terrifying.

What broke the camel's back is that this wolf had green eyes.

A wolf with green eyes?
