I closed my eyes.

Then Lorenzo exploded out of the smoke, throwing himself in front of us.

RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT—

Bullets tore into him. Chest. Stomach. Shoulder. Blood burst from every wound.

But he didn't fall. He raised his gun. BANG. BANG. Both men dropped.
