Only when the police sirens began screaming wildly outside the estate did I slowly turn my wheelchair and unlock the bedroom door.

The heavy door was kicked open. Lead Officer Gideon Cross stormed in, gun drawn, his blinding tactical flashlight sweeping over the bloody mess.

"Freeze!...
