Chapter 7 Time Reversal?
Silas remained an enigma to most, already in his late twenties all he ever did was take care of Nathan ever since the latter was young, bio-engineered when he was just eighteen years old shortly after Vivian's death because he felt guilty he wasn't able to protect the person who saved him and gave him a life he dedicated his life to taking care of Nathan and ensuring he didn't meet the same fate.
His formal side would only be revealed when facing rivals, in the Frostmoon family or when he was angry, most other times he was carefree and easygoing. That very morning especially, Silas was extremely furious.
"How did I get here?"
"Still wondering?" Silas asked with raised eyebrows.
"Uhm--, yes?"
"Well that's because a certain someone promised to be back within three hours and happened to break his own promise, so I had to go bring him back myself." Silas said with hands poised to the right, bent slightly to reveal a tiny cut mark that stretched across to his palm.
"Oh, did you find anything else there?"
"Where?" Silas asked with a frown, covering his sleeves once again.
"Where you found me, was anyone else there or anything suspicious?" Nathan asked subtly.
"Nothing."
"Nothing?"
"Nothing, what were you expecting? Were you attacked? Or did someone ambush you? What happened yesterday? I need a full recount of everything you did before falling unconscious, come over to the diner first and eat something, we have all day to discuss this." Silas said then exited from the room, heading downstairs.
Nathan still had a puzzled look on his face as he watched Silas leave the room, recounting the incident of the previous day he could remember being smashed recklessly by a tree nearly a meter wide, there was no way he could've possibly survived that but there he was, standing and breathing like every other normal human.
"Or is this just a dream?" He wondered then walked towards the room's window, pushing aside the blinds preventing the sun from shining into the room. The moment the blinds were gone a blinding stream of light rushed into the room onto his face, he raised a palm to block the light then pulled back the blinds.
"Young Master Nathan!"
"On my way, I'm coming already." He then left the room only to be met with the greatest surprise of his life, right before him were multiple streaks of colored ribbon like strings, interweaved together against each other.
'What's going on?' he wondered in shock, raising his hand to touch one of the ribbons but it passed right through them easily, he turned his head to look at a lamp placed by the side, the ribbons cluttered round it, similar to flakes of lights orbiting the lamp placed at the corner.
"Young Master Nathan." Silas called out one more time, his voice lazy and withdrawn.
"I must be going crazy." He took in a deep breath then walked towards the diner, ignoring the ribbons spread all over the house.
The maids had prepared breakfast for him a few minutes earlier and we're waiting for him but Silas had ushered them away. Nathan was already used to this as it wasn't the first time, he dug through his food calmly.
"What happened last night?"
"Where's Draven?"
"I sent him to do a few things, he'll be back before the next hour." Silas replied then continued "Over to you."
"Nothing much happened, I was out for a walk when I was attacked, I tried to defend but couldn't react fast enough to defend against the attacks."
"Oh, and how do you explain the knife's disappearance? And the wounds, the scars?" Silas didn't seem content with the rough explanation Nathan gave him, he pestered Nathan for more information till he was done with his food but Nathan refused to give away any information about the four men or the girl who was kidnapped.
"So annoying." He grumbled before returning to his room then followed up by crashing onto his bed with head raised, eyes fixated onto the ceiling.}
'They're still there, but they don't affect me in any way.' he thought, brushing his hands against the strands which cluttered around them and then splattered about once again, although he could see the movements he couldn't feel anything physically.
"Yeah right, I need to sleep. I'll think of this when I'm up but for now? I just need to sleep." Closing his eyes he fell asleep shortly after, ignoring the strands that cluttered about in his line of sight, forming incoherent lines, words and numbers but gradually closing up together.
---
Tik!
Tik!
The sound of dripping liquid woke Nathan up with a start, he opened his eyes then glanced round the room, feeling his heart throb with pain and a dull ache.
'What is wrong with me?!' he screamed internally then walked towards the window, pulled the blinds apart and gazed out towards the forest in the distance. The strands were still there, floating aimlessly but this time they had a seemingly unnatural pattern to them, clustering together to form chains that looked like they were trying to describe something to him.
The next moment he did something he would've never dared to do in his entire life, he placed a foot on the window sill, and leapt out from the mansion over thirty feet tall!
'What am I doing?!' his body moved on instinct without regarding his own opinions leaving him at a loss regarding what to do.
He crashed onto the ground then stood back up just seconds later, no broken bones, no strains or wounds, just a little bit of dirt at the edges of his cloth.
"Did I just do that?" He muttered in shock then turned towards the forest, the very same place he died the previous day, the same place the strands pointed towards and walked forward.
'Just what happened yesterday?'
After walking for over twenty minutes he finally arrived at the very same spot where he was killed the previous day.
'Was it really here? It can't be.' the trees that were pulled apart by Jack, the explosions caused by Aeric and the countless bursts of destruction caused by the young girl, none of them could be seen.
It felt like time was reversed back to the point where nothing happened to the forest in the first place.
"But it should be here--" The sounds of shuttling feet brought him out of his reverie, he turned back to find a figure covered in black cloak about 1.7 meters tall, nearly as tall as him with white hair and pale red eyes.
"You. Why are you still here? What do you want?" He stuttered in shock, his mind racing towards numerous possibilities fully aware of the destructive power she could unleash once she went fully berserk.
"I've been waiting for you, Nathan Frostmoon."
