Chapter 6 Awakening
"Nathan!"
"Nathan!!
"Nathan, wake up!"
Nathan stood up with a start, huffing and panting with eyes darting around in shock, he raised his hands and glanced over them to find it filled with fat and texture like that of a child's, even his height.
"Nathan, come for breakfast!"
"Mother?" He called out slowly, recognizing the voice that called out to him, the same voice he failed to forget for years.
He stepped away from the bed, feeling his short height and chubby cheeks he couldn't believe what was happening to him.
"Is this a dream? Or did I go back in time after my death?" He muttered in shock but still proceeded to the diner where his mother was waiting with a wide smile on her face.
"Son, how was your night?" She asked with a calm and gentle smile on her face while patting his head gently with her right hand.
She had white hair similar to Nathan's paired along with white eyes, this characteristic was unique to her alone as Nathan had yet to see anyone else possess white eyes like hers and he inherited his from her also.
"Mother?" He muttered with eyes trembling incessantly, a drop of tear slid down the edge of his eye as he couldn't believe the feeling being passed across to him. His very own mother, dead for countless years, was right before him, patting his head with that warm smile he yearned for so much.
"Mhmm? Is anything wrong?" Vivian asked, gently brushing Nathan's head.
"Mother I-- argh!" A rush of pain swept across his vision, resonating in his head with such intensity it felt like his head was about to split apart.
"Nathan! What's wrong with you?"
"Mother I- please stay with me mother." He muttered, his eyes clouded with tears.
"What do you mean? I'm right here with you my love, stay calm and steady, why are you fretting so much?" She said then pulled his head into her chest, giving him a tight hug with her hand on his head.
After a few minutes he slowly pulled out from her embrace then glanced over her face once again, his gaze swept towards her arm where he found the same scar she always had, the scar was there for as long as he had known her, it cut across her right arm straight up to her calf but that did nothing to hide her resplendent beauty and radiance.
"Mother, how did you get this scar? It looks hideous." Nathan asked, gently brushing his tiny fingers over it.
"This scar? I've always had it for as long as I can remember." Vivian replied with a smile then continued "Your father Kingsley saved me from death, before that I have no recollection of what happened."
"Father, he never comes to visit does he? He does whatever he wants, does he even remember you exist?" Nathan blared out in annoyance and anger at his father.
"Don't mind him, he's just too busy, he'll come over when he's free okay? You just be a good boy and it will be fine."
"Come eat, you're still growing, you need it." She said then pulled him over to the table where rows of dishes were arranged for the two. Nathan picked up a spoon, preparing to dig in when a voice suddenly called out to him.
"Young Master Nathan."
"Who's that?"
"Young Master Nathan!"
Turning his head he could see his mother had vanished, the world around him blurred out into the background as his eyes grew dim.
"Young Master Nathan!" This time he could hear the voice sound and clear as well as recognize it. It belonged to none other than his reputable butler and bodyguard Silas who was patting him up with a rigid look on his face.
"Young Master Nathan you're up! That's great, I would suggest we move out immediately as we are already delayed for today's plans, please get out of bed so we can commence with the preparations." Silas said in his classical monotone voice which only meant one thing to Nathan.
"Oh no, not this, not now." He mumbled then turned over, pulling his blanket over his body.
"Young Master Nathan, I would advise you to get out of bed and prepare for your classes or I would be compelled to call home and complain to Lord Kingsley about your recent uncooperative attitude."
"That old man probably doesn't even care about whatever happens to me." Nathan said with a groan.
"He does."
"Yeah sure, I heard you, can I go to bed now?"
"You are literally on the bed already, I'm telling you to get the fuck up and get ready for classes, get up now before I make you get up myself." Silas said with his right hand raised slightly, a light blue trail lit up along his arms followed by a low whirring sound which sent a chill through Nathan's spine.
"Wait wait wait wait, why are you being so grumpy? You're not that old yet, I'm up okay? I'm up man, I'm here." Nathan said with arms raised, the blanket already flung across the room, Nathan had ditched it without a moment's thought!
'Better than getting another mind blowing morning electrocution moment, hell nah I'm not going through that again.'
"Grumpy? You dare say I'm grumpy Nathan? I warned you not to go out at night but you insisted okay fine, I can't stop you but look at what you've gotten yourself into?!"
"Stop just living for the sake of living, stop this reckless behaviour Nathan. Lives are in your hand, the lives of everyone in this very mansion lies in your hands, the moment you die no one in this mansion will go Scot free including even me, the Frostmoon family cannot be crossed Nathan, stick that in." Silas said then turned to leave the room.
"Take a break for today and rest, heal your wounds and the scabs. When you're done with that we will resume with school activities." His words reminded Nathan of the one sore fact his mind had skipped ever since he woke up.
'That's right, how am I still alive?’
