Chapter 2 I'll boost her a bit

Arabella felt meeting Lincoln Bei was the luckiest thing that could happen to her. 

He had no reason to deceive her or lie to her, he had no reason to fall in love with her, he was not short of women. 

The wedding procedures were processed quickly and In just thirty minutes, Arabella held their marriage certificate. 

From now on, she was Arabella Bei, a married woman.

“President Bei…” 

“Lincoln” he cut her off. Arabella smiled calmly. 

“Lincoln, may I have a few words with you?” 

“Get in the car” he ordered as he moved back to the parking lot. 

Arabella wanted to know why he accepted the proposal without any issues. 

She should know if she wasn't falling Into her enemy's trap. 

He entered his Tesla Cybertruck and she followed closely after him. 

She looked at him nervously, this man was her husband now. 

“Thank you for agreeing to marry me. You've saved me, if you need anything in return, tell me. I'll gladly do it” 

“However, I have few requests from you…if you'll do it” 

“Say them” Lincoln urged gently as he loosened his collar and reclined in his car, tiredness was evident in his eyes. 

She knew a lot was on his shoulders, a star player, an heir and it must be tiring, she wished she could help.

“But can I ask why you agreed to marry me?” Arabella stared at him nervously. 

“Because you're an heiress…I like your family's company…” 

Arabella almost choked. How could he be so straightforward and shameless at the same time? 

“I don't want this marriage public…I'm not ready to face the public yet. I don't want you to interfere with my private matters. I wouldn't cross boundaries with other men either. I have an unfinished business I need to handle, I don't want you to render any help…I need to do everything myself and fight every obstacle by myself” 

She dropped all the rules quickly, she hoped he wouldn't turn them down. She knew he wasn't going to pretend. 

“That's good,” Lincoln Bei sighed. “I'll not disturb you but I have my rules too” 

“What are they?” Arabella asked nervously, she hoped it wouldn't be too difficult for her. 

“I'll give you time to clear up your past without interfering. I don't believe married couples should live alone so you're moving in tonight…I'll not break any of your rules but I'm only giving you one month. We should have a trial marriage for one month” 

Arabella thought it was a nice idea too, trial marriage and they decide what they both want after one month. 

“After one month, I'll make it public and claim you publicly” Lincoln finished. 

Arabella almost choked, she had other thoughts in mind. She thought it was those books that the couples would split up after the trial. 

She nodded her head obediently, “I'll move in. I agree” 

After their agreements, Arabella got down from his car and moved to hers. She drove off. 

Lincoln's manager entered the car, “Master Bei, would you like to return to the estate to tell the old man the good news?” 

“Send a guard to follow her movement and report it to me…you follow her personally instead” 

He wasn't the media type so he didn't know Arabella but checking her information was impressive. 

His little sister was a tech lady before her death a few years back, he wanted to help her create her dream. 

His little sister had always wanted to create an app for the economic market and Arabella was the first step. 

He also wanted Arabella to help find the hacker that hacked his sister's software that made her commit suicide. 

He needed a lot of things from Arabella. God had a funny way of making things work because without doing anything, Arabella brought herself to him.

In her twenty four years of living, Arabella had always known she was brave but she never knew her bravery had exceeded minimal level.

She had actually married a stranger. What had she done? 

Just as she got home about to enter her apartment, she received a text from Lane. 

Hey, Bella, where are you currently? 

I'm at the civil affairs office about to go back home.

Her phone rang for a few seconds, “Bella” Lane said over the phone. 

Arabella clenched her fist trying to put her emotions in check. 

Did he regret what he did and wanted to apologize? Did he want them to get married today? 

“Cindy has a very important show tonight…she can't present because of her so you need to step in for her” 

Arabella let out a low mocking laugh, she thought he called to apologize. 

“She needs this show, it is important in her career. Her manger will be there, you'll use a mask and the make up artist will make your skin look pale so they wouldn't be able to tell the difference” 

Lane was so shameless, Arabella almost spat out in disgust. 

“If Cindy is sick…let the media and the company know she's sick…you don't have to use me as a substitute” she declared. 

“After all, you announced to the media Cindy got injured.” 

“But I already told the media she was going to attend despite her injury”

In the past, Arabella had done a lot of substitution for Cindy because she felt she was helping Lane. 

She would read slides over the night, she would add weight to match up Cindy's weight, she would try out a lot of dangerous hacking just because of Lane. 

But it turned out she was being used, she knew she had to put a stop to this. 

“Send the address and time. My manager would pick me up” 

“Thank you Bella. I know you love me most. We'll fix another date to sign our marriage certificate” 

“Okay” 

“Help me boost Cindy a bit,” Lane pleaded. 

“Of course I will…I will boost Cindy a bit” Arabella replied but they both had different meanings to their words.
