Chapter 9

"Gab, where have you been hiding out? What happened to make you look like you were hit by a hurricane? What exactly took place with you?" As I entered our room, Eury immediately started firing off questions at me.

I just responded to her by saying, "Prince Javier commanded me to find his pet in the forest."

"What?" She was really taken aback by what I said.

She asked me, "How many hours have you been missing, and you're in the woods hunting for Prince Javier's pet?" She confirmed to me that I was in the woods looking for the animal.

I told her, "I can do nothing but fulfill Prince Javier's commands to me, Eury," as there was nothing else I could possibly do.

She let out a long sigh and closed her eyes as she said, "I wish I could say that you need to relax even for a few minutes, but all maids need inside the palace, Gab."

She told me, "So hurry up and prepare yourself because Prince Javier's Luna is coming!" and I immediately went into action.

She continued before she left me by saying, "I'll be going first to go to the dining room, we need to set their dinner before she arrives," adding that she would be going first.

When Eury came out of our room, I drew a long breath in preparation. Before going into the dining area, I showered myself and changed into a fresh set of clothes. Even though I was completely spent, I had no choice but to continue working.

As I entered the palace, I saw that all of the maids were hard at work. There were cooks, people who arranged the dinner table, and those who placed food on the table.

Soon enough, we had accomplished everything that was within our power, but Veronica admonished us not to leave.

The first to arrive were Alpha Bernard and Luna Gladys. Both of them sat down in their seats and awaited the arrival of Prince Javier, who, as far as I am aware, was on his way to pick up Amanda, the Luna that he had selected.

At seven-thirty in the evening, Prince Javier arrived beaming, accompanied by a very gorgeous woman whose name was Amanda!

Amanda showed her reverence for Prince Javier's family by bending her head in their direction.

Amanda was greeted by Alpha Bernard and Luna Gladys when she arrived.

Alpha Bernard extended a warm greeting, saying, "Welcome to the Bloodlust Pack, Princess Amanda."

Luna Gladys greeted her also by saying, "It's finally great to see you," as she planted a kiss on Amanda's cheek.

Amanda gave them a friendly smile and said, "Thank you, Alpha Bernard and Luna Gladys, for accepting me."

"Kindly eliminate the need for the formality, Amanda, since you are going to be the next Luna in our pack and you can now refer to us as your parents, "Luna Gladys remarked.

There is no way to conceal the fact that Amanda is Alpha's daughter and that she hails from a prominent family. The blue gown she wore, the way her hair was styled and the soft expression on her face, her porcelain complexion, the almost perfect form of her face, her nose, and her lips — in short, everything about her physical appearance was nearly flawless.

Because of what I observed, I had a feeling of insecurity. If I were to dress like her, I am confident that I would be able to withstand her beauty; nevertheless, I am merely a maid here in the palace and I am expected to serve them.

I turned my attention to Prince Javier. While he was looking at Amanda, I caught a glimpse of that grin. I have never seen before Prince Javier smile. This is the first time I've seen him do so. When we are in the same place together, all he does is give me an angry look.

"Come and spend some time with us, Amanda. I am aware that you are currently starving," After being invited by Luna Gladys, she joined them as they sat down in front of the dining table.

"Gab!" when I turned to look at Eury, who was standing next to me, she indicated that she wanted me to take action in order to serve them.

I hastened to get in a position to be of service to them. I filled their glasses with juice using the pouring spout. I stared at Prince Javier when it was his turn to serve him a drink because I was curious to see what he would do. After casting a sinister glance in my direction for a brief period, he then shifted his focus to Amanda, who was sitting next to him.

After I had completed filling all of the glasses with drink, I returned to my place and watched the four of them consume their meal. I am certain that Prince Javier was aware that I was looking at him, but he chose to disregard my presence.

The four of them had a conversation while they were eating, and it was during that conversation that I learned about Amanda.

She will be twenty years old this year. The sole child of the Alpha and Luna of the White Moon Pack, she is their only daughter. She had already attended classes in a different Kingdom, and the first time she and Javier met was at a party hosted by their Pack. At that location, I also learned that the White Moon Pack is the third-ranked Pack in this Kingdom and that the Bloodlust Pack is the second-ranked Pack in this Kingdom.

"So, Javier, what are your plans for the foreseeable future?" Alpha Bernard posed the question to his son.

My eyes widened in response to the last part of what Prince Javier said as he grasped Amanda's right hand and said, "We agreed that Amanda will stay here until our wedding." Amanda was looking at Prince Javier.

Will Amanda stay here in the palace?

I have no idea what to make of this. The words that I heard Prince Javier say caused every muscle in my body to tense up. Is he absolutely certain about his decision that Amanda will be his Luna? What about me? What do I need to do to be his Mate?

"In such a case, it's imperative that everyone become familiar with Amanda, Javier! We are going to throw a party to introduce her to every member of the Bloodlust Pack!" Alpha Bernard said while smiling about it.

"I am overjoyed to learn that you have, at long last, found your Luna, Javier. In no time at all, you'll be in charge of the Bloodlust Pack, and Bernard and I will be traveling all over the world!" Luna Gladys shared her opinions with the group.

"Don't worry, Dad and Mom, all the Packs will recognize the White Moon Pack and Bloodlust Pack cooperation when Amanda and I get married!" Prince Javier gave his mother and father his word.

Luna Gladys made a suggestion that they find someone to look after Amanda while she is staying with the Bloodlust Pack. "In that case," Luna Gladys said, "she needs someone to take care of her."

Luna Gladys stared at the maids smiling. She took each of us in turn while she surveyed the group, and then she announced the winners.

"Gwen," Luna Gladys called to Gwen.

Gwen approached Luna Gladys' place.

The next thing that Luna Gladys said to be Gwen's companion was, "Eury."

Eury moved over to Gwen's side with a cheerful expression.

"And ... Gabriella!"

When I heard my name, I gagged slightly.

It has been decided that I shall serve as one of Amanda's personal maids!

"I don't want Gabriella, Mom!" Prince Javier exclaimed to protest Luna Gladys's decision.

She stared at Prince Javier and questioned, "Why?" Luna Gladys was curious.

"Why don't we make Amanda's personal maids out of higher maids?" The viewpoint of Prince Javier.

"Javier, the higher maids are going to be quite busy, and we really need them here. If Amanda wants the three of them to be her personal maids, that won't be an issue at all," Luna Gladys responded.

"In addition, I am confident that they will carry out their duties. I am familiar with them, and I am aware that Amanda is fortunate to have such conscientious and effective personal maids for her here at the Bloodlust Pack," was described Luna Gladys.

"Amanda, do you mind if I ask your opinion on that?"

Amanda gave Luna Gladys a reassuring smile before responding, "There is no problem about that, Mom." Amanda answered.

As I made my way closer to where Eury and Gwen were, Prince Javier stared at me as I passed him. However, Luna Gladys was the one who made the decision, and I had no intention of serving Amanda if I have the power to not follow Luna Gladys's decision.

Alpha Bernard concluded, "Okay, I guess we're done with it."

"Amanda, you can rest now, and Gladys and I will begin preparing for the party for you," he said after telling her that.

Alpha Bernard issued the following command: "Take Amanda to her room, and Javier, we need to talk."

As soon as Amanda got to her feet, we went up to her and led her to her room.

"I'll be the first one to leave if you don't mind, Mom and Dad. Because of the travel I took to get here, I'm worn out," Amanda said farewell.

"Take your rest, Amanda. I have high hopes that your time spent in the Bloodlust Pack will be enjoyable."

Gwen extended an invitation to Princess Amanda, saying, "Please follow us."

We set off in the direction of Amanda's room and began walking. Gwen was in the lead, and Eury and I were following closely behind.

Her eyes wander as she smiles and looks about while we stroll together. I cannot point out a single bad quality about her. She exudes an air of gentleness and authenticity.

How am I going to compete with someone like her for the hand of Prince Javier?

Should I just give up and come to terms with the fact that Prince Javier's Luna won't be me?

No! It is not going to happen! Because I am Prince Javier's Mate, I have the rights to him. No matter what the outcome may be, I will fight!
