Chapter 6 I am here to kill Anita

The Lawson Estate

Calling it a mansion would have been a joke.

The Lawson Estate was practically a small kingdom standing in the middle of Boron City.

Tall walls surrounded the entire property. Armed guards stood everywhere. Security vehicles moved around nonstop. Cameras covered every angle.

Nobody got inside without permission.

But the real reason people feared this place was not the walls.

Victor Lawson.

A man whose name carried enough weight to make powerful businessmen lower their voices and government officials think carefully before choosing their words.

A man powerful enough to make businessmen bow their heads and politicians smile carefully before speaking his name.

The reason for the gathering was simple.

Tonight was Damien Lawson’s birthday.

And Anita Lawson had made sure the entire city knew it.

Politicians, business tycoons, military suppliers, entertainment investors, and powerful men whose real businesses were better left unspoken could all be seen entering the estate one after another.

At the outer gate, a black vehicle slowly rolled to a stop.

The guards immediately noticed it.

Several armed men approached without delay, their eyes sharp while one hand remained close to their weapons out of habit.

Inside the vehicle, Justin sat quietly.

He did not look at the approaching guards.

He did not look at the checkpoint.

His eyes remained fixed on the estate beyond the gates.

On that land.

On that building.

Slowly, his fingers tightened against his leg.

That place had once been home.

Long before the walls became higher and the guards became stronger, that piece of land belonged to the Ben family.

Right where the massive main building stood now, there used to be a house.

His house.

That was where his mother handled company work late into the night while pretending she was not exhausted.

That was where Christy used to run around the yard laughing until somebody carried her inside.

That was where life once felt ordinary.

Safe.

Real.

Then Elara Quinn died.

Anita Lawson took everything.

The company.

The houses.

The lands.

Every single thing connected to the Ben family disappeared piece by piece until nothing remained except memories and graves.

And after taking it all, she built her empire on top of what used to be his family’s home.

Justin opened the car door calmly.

“I’ll go in alone,” he said without taking his eyes away from the estate.

Kenneth immediately straightened his posture.

“Yes, General.”

Justin walked toward the main gate.

Two guards stood at the entrance, carrying guns around their chests.

One of them stepped forward and blocked the way, when they saw Justin coming,

“Invitation,” the guard said. “No invitation, no entry.”

“I’m here to see Anita Lawson,” Justin replied.

The two guards exchanged looks.

Then one of them laughed.

“You came to see Madam Lawson?” he said. “Do you think this place is some public office?”

He pointed toward the road behind Justin.

“Turn around and leave.”

Justin stayed where he was.

The guard's face became darkened.

“Did you not hear what I said?”

Still, Justin did not move.

The second guard lost patience. He pulled up his rifle and pressed the barrel against Justin’s forehead.

Some nearby guests noticed what was happening and slowed down, but nobody came closer.

“Alright, I’ll count to three. If you’re still standing here after that, I’ll put a bullet in your head.” the guard said.

Justin looked at him quietly.

“One.”

Nothing.

“Two.”

“Three—”

Steel flashed.

A scream cut through the entrance.

The rifle dropped onto the ground.

The guard stumbled backward.

Blood ran down his arm.

Before the other guard could react, Justin stepped forward and landed across the man's chest.

The guard crashed onto the ground.

Everything became quiet for a moment.

The guests stopped talking.

Several guards rushed over and raised their weapons.

Justin looked toward the estate beyond the gate.

“I came to see Anita Lawson,” he said. “Go tell her Justin Ben is here.”

One of the guards frowned.

“Justin… who?”

Justin started walking toward the gate again.

“My name is Justin Ben.”

Most of the people standing there looked confused.

The name meant nothing to them.

But inside the estate, there were people who would remember that name very well.

And once Anita Lawson heard it, the birthday party was not going to stay peaceful for long.

The guard’s severed wrist dropped to the ground.

“ARGHHHH!”

He fell to his knees and grabbed his arm as blood pouring onto the floor.

The second guard stared blankly for a second.

“I hate people pointing guns at me,” Justin said.

“What the hell!”

The second guard reacted instantly and pulled up his gun.

“You crazy bastard! Do you know where you are?”

He pointed the weapon straight at Justin.

“You want to die?!”

His finger pulled the trigger.

But Justin was already gone.

The guard's face changed.

He looked around quickly.

Too late.

A flash of steel crossed the air.

Then another one followed immediately.

The guard suddenly stopped moving.

The gun slipped from his hand.

He looked down at his chest.

Two long cuts had appeared across his body.

Blood quickly soaked his clothes.

He tried to move.

His legs gave out.

His body crashed onto the ground.

The entrance became quiet.

The scream had already attracted other guards.

Several armed men rushed over but slowed down when they saw the two bodies at the gate.

Nobody expected this.

Nobody expected someone to attack the Lawson Estate openly.

Justin shook the blood from his dagger and looked toward the building inside.

“I came for Anita Lawson,” he said. “Go tell her Justin Ben is here.”

The guards held their weapons tightly but nobody moved first.

The name meant nothing to some of them.

But after seeing what happened at the gate, nobody was eager to test him next.

Justin straightened, turning toward the remaining guard. “You should've listened to what I said to you earlier."

The guard holds his injured arm. The moment Justin looked at him, he quickly lowered his head.

“Please… don’t kill me,” he said hurriedly. “I was only hired to guard this place. I’m just doing my job.”

Justin stood before him without speaking.

“What do you want?” the guard continued quickly. “Money? I can get money for you. Whatever you need, just say it.”

“Where is Anita?” Justin asked.

The guard answered immediately.

“The Lawsons are at the last checkpoint near the main hall. Please believe me, I’m only a worker here.”

Justin nodded once.

“Thanks for the information,” he said. “I’ll spare you.”

The guard released a breath and watched Justin turn around and walk away.

Then his eyes suddenly changed.

His remaining hand shot toward the rifle lying nearby.

He grabbed it, raised it toward Justin’s back, and pulled the trigger.

But Justin had already reacted.

His arm moved sharply.

The dagger left his hand and cut through the air before striking the guard.

The gun dropped from the man’s hand and screamed in pain.

He fell sideways onto the floor, rolling in pain.

Justin walked back to him.

“I shouldn’t have given you that chance,” he said.

The guard dragged himself backward desperately.

“Stay back!”  he shouted.

Justin kept walking.

The guard hurriedly pointed toward the estate behind them.

“This place belongs to the Lawsons! Elder Kane is here tonight!”

Justin finally stopped.

Seeing that, the guard quickly continued speaking.

“Elder Kane is the Lawson family's chief enforcer. He’s a martial arts master. Nobody in Boron City dares challenge him. People kneel when they hear his name. If you keep going, he’ll destroy you!”

Justin listened quietly.

After a few seconds, he gave a small nod.

“Elder Kane?” he said.

Kane.

One of the Lawson family’s main enforcers.

He was known across Boron City as a fighter who never lost a battle and never left a target alive once he decided to move.

The guard who was left on the ground thought mentioning that name would be enough to stop Justin immediately. In his mind, anyone hearing “Kane” was supposed to hesitate, because that name alone carried weight.

But Justin did not react the way he expected.

“I don’t care who sent you,” Justin said calmly. “I don’t care who is protecting this place.”

He lifted his blade slightly.

“I came here to kill Anita Lawson.”

The guard’s face went pale in an instant.

Before he could say another word, Justin moved.

The blade came down once, clean and final, and the guard’s voice stopped completely.

Justin did not look back.

He stepped forward once, then his body launched into motion.

With a single leap and crossed the big gate and landed inside the inner compound.

Fifty-armed guards stood in position across the area, all of them trained and prepared for security duty, yet none of them reacted fast enough to understand what they were seeing.

A man had just jumped over their strongest gate like it was nothing.

Weapons slowly came up.

Eyes locked onto him.

Confusion spread first, then alarm.

“Where did he come from?”

“Is he alone?”

“No one gets past the outer gate like that…”

Justin stood straight where he landed, his gaze moving across them without rush.

“I am here for Anita Lawson,” he said simply.

No shouting.

No threat.

Just a statement.

Then one of them stepped forward.

“You don’t understand where you are,” the man said firmly. “You are inside Lawson territory now. Drop your weapon and surrender.”
