Chapter 3
Hearing this, Gaia almost died of anger, "Alexander! How did I end up with such a jerk for a grandson? Are you trying to make me die of anger? Let me tell you, if you can really bring yourself to kill your own child, then I'll make Celeste go down with him!"
"Grandma, Celeste saved my life. Is this how you treat your grandson's savior?"
"Whether she actually saved you or not is still up for debate. I've seen plenty of vicious women who take credit for things they didn't do, and I think Celeste is exactly that type."
Alexander stated firmly, "That's just your bias against her."
Gaia snorted dismissively, "Fine. Bring Lila home for lunch tomorrow at noon. Let the family meet her."
His expression darkened as he asked with displeasure, "Is that necessary?"
"Of course it's necessary. I finally have a granddaughter-in-law. Not setting off fireworks is already a huge regret - can't I at least introduce her to the family?"
Alexander's flat voice revealed no emotion, "Got it."
After ending the call, he sat back down in the single-seat sofa from before, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it.
If Gaia hadn't been lying in the hospital refusing to eat or drink, forcing him to marry Lila, he would never have gotten a marriage certificate with a stranger.
Now that they were married, Gaia was using Celeste's whereabouts as leverage, forcing him to have a child!
Thinking about this, Alexander's displeasure grew even stronger.
Just then, there was movement upstairs.
Lila had quickly packed up some things and felt thirsty. Thinking Alexander had already left the living room, she planned to go downstairs to get some water. But as soon as she stepped out, she felt that cold, blade-like gaze from downstairs and couldn't help but shiver.
The image of being choked still echoed in her mind, filling her with fear.
But suddenly going back to her room would be awkward, wouldn't it?
Besides, she was just going to get some water. As long as she didn't provoke Alexander, he probably wouldn't lose it again, right?
With this thought, Lila went downstairs.
The water dispenser was not far from the stairs.
Lila had originally wanted to find a disposable cup to quickly drink some water and quench her thirst, but she discovered there were no disposable cups here!
What to do?
Whatever, she'd just grab any cup, get some water, drink it, and leave quickly.
With this thought, she randomly picked up a cup.
After filling it with water, Lila was about to bring the cup to her lips when she unexpectedly noticed Alexander had somehow walked over.
Alexander was staring at her.
Lila could tell his expression was bad, but since he was right there, it would be rude not to acknowledge him, so she timidly greeted him, "Mr. Sinclair, you..."
Before she could finish, Alexander suddenly snatched the cup from her hand.
Because of the forceful motion, water splashed out and spilled on the floor.
Lila instinctively stepped back, looking at Alexander in confusion, "Why did you grab my cup?"
Alexander's eyes were contemptuous as he raised his tone to ask back, "Your cup?"
Lila looked at his frightening gaze and instinctively stepped back, "It's not mine, but can't I use it to drink some water?"
Alexander's gaze moved from her face to the cup. After staring at it for two seconds, his fingers released one by one until finally the cup fell into the trash can beside the water dispenser.
More accurately, Alexander threw it into the trash can.
Lila looked at him and asked cautiously, "What are you doing?"
"Things you've touched disgust me. Better to throw them away now and keep things clean." With that, Alexander brushed past her, and before going upstairs, he gave her an extremely disdainful sideways glance.
The master bedroom door on the second floor slammed shut loudly.
Lila's expressionless face finally showed a crack of emotion.
She bit her lip, feeling somewhat wronged.
Why did Alexander get to bully her like this?
It's not like she was dying to marry him either!
The more Lila thought about it, the more wronged she felt, and her eyes couldn't help but redden.
She looked at the red gemstone on the silver bracelet on her left wrist and gently touched it.
If she had married that person instead, she definitely wouldn't be treated like this, right?!
Nearly strangled to death and not even able to get a drink of water - Lila didn't want to stay in this villa any longer.
She contacted her best friend Elara Ginger and left the place that very night.
Ten minutes later.
Lila sat on the back of Elara's electric scooter, drinking sweet milk tea, her gloomy mood completely swept away.
"Lila, from what you're saying, this Alexander has someone he loves?"
"I think her name is Celeste or something."
The wind was loud on the street. Elara smiled and spoke loudly to her, "Even though he has someone he likes, Alexander married you now. You guys will definitely fall in love over time. By the time the person he likes comes back, you'll have already filled his heart. Then his first love will just have to hide and cry. Lila, go for it!"
