Chapter 5 Help Me Bring My Children Back
"Jason, help!"
Daisy was the first to react, dropping her paintbrush and bolting for the door.
As she ran, she couldn't control her panicked shouting.
"Don't run!"
Nathan's whole body jolted into action as he chased after her.
If he let this kid slip away under his nose, Charles would probably kill him.
Daisy looked back in terror at Nathan gaining on her, her little arms and legs pumping even faster.
She was afraid of being caught.
If Diana found out, she'd definitely be in trouble.
Jason had just finished using the restroom and was about to wash his hands when he vaguely heard Daisy's scream.
He frowned, muttering to himself, "Still haven't found the paintbrush? Didn't we bring one?"
Daisy loved to draw and took her paintbrushes everywhere.
After finishing their little dog drawing, they felt something was missing. It took them a while to realize they needed to color it in.
The two had agreed immediately, turning back to the lounge to get the paintbrush before heading to Charles's room.
But Jason really needed to use the bathroom.
So he let Daisy go back alone to get it, planning to find her in Charles's lounge afterward.
Despite having a million questions running through his mind, he still took his time washing his hands.
Just as he finished and stepped out, he saw Daisy running toward him at full speed.
He was about to call out when someone suddenly burst out from behind Daisy, grabbing her with lightning speed.
"Think you can run? Little troublemaker, you've got some nerve!" Nathan panted heavily while trying to control the squirming Daisy in his arms.
"Stop struggling! Now tell me, where's your accomplice?"
"You two are so young and already causing trouble—what'll you be like when you grow up!"
Nathan rambled on while handling Daisy roughly.
Daisy was already scared, and being treated this way by Nathan made her burst into heartbroken sobs.
Jason had never seen Daisy cry so pitifully. Feeling furious, he shot out like a cannonball and delivered a vicious kick to the unsuspecting Nathan.
Nathan stumbled painfully, nearly throwing Daisy off balance.
Just as he turned to see who had ambushed him, his leg was grabbed by small arms. "Let go of Daisy, you big meanie, or I'll kick you again!"
Jason was small—his punches didn't hurt much, but his kicks did!
He shouted threats while his feet kept moving, hugging Nathan's leg and delivering kick after kick.
"What are you all standing around for? Come help!"
The hallway erupted into chaos.
Inside the VIP lounge.
Crying echoed back and forth.
Charles sat with one hand supporting his chin, the other resting on his knee, fingers tapping rhythmically.
He watched with fascination as the two kids in front of him coordinated even their crying.
When one cried loudly, the other would cry softly.
When one got tired, they'd switch.
They eliminated any possibility of silence.
Jason hoped to annoy Charles enough to make him kick them out, but instead, Charles found himself increasingly intrigued.
Crying was exhausting work.
The two children were already small, and after all that crying, they felt completely drained.
Daisy couldn't cry anymore and tugged at Jason's shirt corner.
Jason quickly glanced at Daisy.
Her little eyes had turned completely red.
Gritting his teeth, he stopped wailing.
"We're sorry. We were wrong."
Jason apologized decisively, though internally he kept cursing Charles as a big meanie.
Daisy said nothing, gripping Jason's shirt tightly, her lips pouting involuntarily.
Children's eyes were bright and honest.
Both kids' gazes were filled with unspoken curses directed at him.
Charles raised an eyebrow and reached toward Daisy.
Daisy immediately shrank back in fear, and Jason quickly blocked her.
"Don't you dare hit Daisy, you big meanie!"
Charles ignored Jason and instead pulled Daisy into his arms.
His gaze swept over Daisy's somewhat dirty knees—the marks were fresh, suggesting she'd fallen recently.
Nathan watched Charles's actions with some surprise.
Charles didn't like children, especially dirty ones.
Daisy had cried herself into a mess, her face all smudged.
Yet Charles acted as if he didn't notice, holding her close.
Daisy was stunned, and her brain completely went blank as Charles held her.
It was... Daddy!
Daisy was young, and both physiologically and psychologically craved the concept of "Daddy."
Jason, however, was agitated. "Let go of my sister! Let her go right now!"
Jason lunged forward angrily, only to crash hard into Charles's chest.
His pupils immediately constricted.
Charles felt something strange stir in his heart as well.
Only Nathan remained deeply unsettled.
"Go find out whose children these are!" Charles commanded in a low voice.
Nathan immediately breathed a sigh of relief and quickly made the call to arrange it.
While the VIP lounge buzzed with activity, Diana stood in her private lounge as if trapped in an ice cave.
Looking at the empty space, Diana's heart lurched.
Panic crept up on her, and cold sweat beaded on her forehead.
The two children had always been independent.
And they knew Charles was their father.
These children loved her and were quite clever.
Diana feared they might go seek revenge on her behalf.
She didn't dare imagine...
Taking a deep breath, she quickly called Layla.
As soon as Layla entered, she could tell something was wrong with Diana.
Layla's heart sank.
"Zoey, what's wrong?"
"Layla, Jason, and Daisy are missing. They're gone."
Diana's eyes were red as she used Layla's support to stand up.
Layla was startled—Jason and Daisy were Diana's life.
"Zoey, don't panic. Maybe they just went out to play. There are security cameras in the hallways and rooms—we can check the footage."
"Right, and their watches! Their watches have GPS tracking."
Layla's words were like a revelation to Diana.
Taking a deep breath, she quickly grabbed her phone and opened the tracking app.
"Look, Zoey, both little red dots are on the map."
"Southeast corner, about a hundred feet away." Diana read the distance. "Where's the security room?"
"At the end of this floor."
Layla quickly helped support Diana as they headed to the security room.
When she saw the southeast corner room and learned who was inside, Diana's face stiffened, immediately turning pale.
Charles! How was this possible?
How could this happen so quickly?
"Zoey, are you okay?"
Layla caught Diana just in time.
"Jason and Daisy are in Mr. Windsor's lounge. At least they're not lost."
Layla had done her research and knew who Charles was.
"Let's go get the children back now."
It took Diana a long time to find her voice, and she suddenly grabbed Layla's wrist.
"No, you go!"
"Layla, I can't see Charles right now!"
She didn't want to see Charles.
She was afraid of being recognized.
Diana had spent five whole years trying to move on.
"Layla, please help me. I'm sorry to trouble you, but please help me bring the children back."
Diana couldn't go.
