Chapter 4: The Final Struggle

As soon as Victor finished speaking.

Outside the operating room, in the corridor.

"Send them to meet God!"

The commander of the guards raised his hand, about to give the order to fire.

The ventilation ducts overhead and the bulletproof glass on both sides shattered simultaneously.

Dense suppressed gunfire came from all directions.

Over a dozen black figures burst through the holes in the ceiling and from the end of the corridor.

They were fully armed, wearing black masks and carrying short assault rifles.

These were The Umbral Covenant's people.

Before the guards in the front row could pull their triggers, their foreheads exploded in sprays of blood.

"Damn it, what's going on!!"

The commanding officer was about to turn and run.

A black combat knife struck like a venomous snake, slicing through his throat.

Throat slit, followed by a finishing shot.

Ten seconds.

Over a hundred of the Caldea family's most elite guards in the corridor were completely wiped out.

Bodies piled up on the floor tiles, blood flowing like water.

One of Victor's men shook the blood off his knife, walked to the operating room door, and knelt on one knee.

"Boss, obstacles cleared."

Victor's face showed no expression.

"Let's go."

Inside the door, Brown lay on the ground, clutching his thigh, breathing heavily, his pants soaked through.

His ace troops, which he was so proud of, hadn't lasted even ten seconds.

The Caldea family's guards were elite among elites, but before these people, they were just sheep in military uniforms.

And those dozen black figures were true wolves.

Victor wrapped his black coat tightly around Lily, held her against his left chest with one arm, and picked up Elena from the ground with his right.

"Close your eyes, Lily."

Lily buried her face in Victor's neck, squeezing her eyes shut.

"Victor, can you tell me what's going on?"

Elena looked at Victor curiously.

"No time to explain, Elena."

Victor, holding his wife and daughter, walked out of the operating room door, stepping over broken glass and pools of blood.

Elena didn't ask more questions.

She leaned against Victor's chest, eyes wide as she took in the scene before her.

Inside the corridor.

Those well-equipped guards had all become corpses on the ground.

Twelve of Victor's men stood like javelins in the blood, bowing their heads in respect as Victor emerged.

"Chase."

Chase, who had been waiting on the helicopter, quickly ran over with his team carrying an emergency stretcher.

"Boss, your wife and daughter?"

Victor's lips moved.

"Get them on the plane, use the best medical cabin. Keep them safe."

"Yes!"

Chase took Elena and placed her on the stretcher.

Two medics immediately came forward to put splints on her legs.

"Victor, where are you going?" Before leaving, Elena grabbed his sleeve, her face full of worry.

Victor patted the back of her hand, his cold face finally showing a hint of a smile.

"You and Lily wait for me on the plane. I'm going to end all this. Trust me, it'll be quick."

......

Fifty feet underground.

Mason sat in front of the screens, trembling all over.

The screen was divided into dozens of squares, showing surveillance from various floors of the castle.

Now, half the screens had turned to static.

The other half showed nothing but corpses.

The defense line he'd spent a fortune building had been torn apart in an instant by a group of black-clad men who appeared out of nowhere.

"Mr. Caldea, we've lost contact with the second and third squads!"

"The underground level two door has been breached!"

"First squad completely wiped out!"

"Oh no! They're coming down!"

Reports kept coming through the communicator, followed by bloodcurdling screams.

Mason's eyes were fixed on the largest screen in the center.

Fine beads of sweat seeped from his palms.

He roared at the screen.

"Everyone left, stop them! Don't let them reach underground level two!"

"Hold the stairway! Don't let a single shot through!"

"Can't let him come down!! Listen! Absolutely cannot let that man come down!"

On the screen, Victor was walking down the stairs, floor by floor.

With each floor he passed, countless black-clad knights would surge around him, clearing out all the guards along the way.

"Who the hell is he!"

Mason slammed his fist on the table.

No one answered him.

The few bodyguards in the bunker were already pale with fear, their gun-holding hands shaking.

"Seal the alloy door! Activate maximum defense protocol!"

The three-foot-thick titanium alloy door closed.

Mason pulled open a drawer and grabbed a red detonator.

This was his final trump card.

On the screen, Victor arrived outside the alloy door.

"Victor!"

Mason grabbed the microphone, his voice hoarse as he shouted.

"I know you're out there! You win! I admit your strength!"

Victor said nothing.

"But you can't get through this door! This is military-grade titanium alloy, it can even withstand missiles!"

"And in the foundation of this castle, there are two tons of high-explosive C4!"

Mason held up the detonator in his hand.

"If I press this button, the entire hilltop will be leveled!"

"You and your wife and kid will all be blown to ashes!"

"Make your people back off! Get me a fully fueled helicopter right now and let me go! Once I'm safely out of England, I'll give you the disarm code! Otherwise, we all die together!"

A threat.

This was Mason's trump card that had kept him alive in both the business world and the underground for years.

He didn't believe anyone wasn't afraid of death, and even less that anyone would disregard their wife and daughter's lives.

On the screen, Victor raised his hand and said something into his earpiece.

"Open the door."

"Are you crazy! You think I won't press it!" Mason screamed.

Suddenly, a high-frequency electrical sound came from outside the door.

Two of Victor's men stepped forward and attached two palm-sized black discs to the titanium alloy door.

"What is that... stop right now!"

Mason roared, veins bulging on his face.

A dull explosion.

The titanium alloy door was blown open with a large hole.

Thick smoke billowed.

Metal fragments crashed onto the floor of the bunker.

The bodyguards in the bunker were about to shoot when several flashbangs were thrown in.

White light flared, followed by several crisp gunshots.

All the bodyguards fell, killed with single shots.

As the smoke cleared, Victor walked into the bunker, stepping over metal fragments.

Mason slumped in his chair, holding the detonator.

To him, Victor wasn't human.

He was a demon!

"You... don't come any closer!"

Mason watched Victor approach, his thumb pressing on the red button.

"I'm going to press it! The explosives will detonate immediately! You'll all die!"

Victor walked up to him and stopped, his face cold.

"Press it harder."

The Duke froze.

He looked at the detonator in his hand, then around him.

His elite forces were all down, his defenses had collapsed, and there was no escape route left.

"If I can't escape... then let's all go meet God together!!"

Mason's face twisted into a savage grin, his eyes reddening as he immediately pressed the button...
