Chapter 7 Disturb
Kaela's POV
I didn't need to look at his face to know who owned that rogue voice.
Steven.
To be honest, I knew this would happen, but not today. He was much more stupid than I thought.
He didn't even wait for things to settle.
I looked at Alpha Gabriel, but he was so unbothered. His focus was on his food like it was the most important thing right now... Like Steven wasn't in existence.
“Where is that snitch!"
“That leech!"
My jaw clenched. Eyes flashed with rage.
Who is the idiot calling a leech?
I dropped my fork, folded my arms and waited for him to find his way to the dining room.
He barged in. I turned my head to look at him, from top to bottom. He was still in his wedding suit, sweating like someone who had been beaten back and forth.
“You…!” Steven barked the moment he saw me. His finger pointed towards me.
I lifted a brow at him.
What happened to me?
“You have the guts to actually step your feet into my house?!"
You mean Alpha Gabriel’s house.
I cocked my head to the side, listening to his rubbish.
" I want you to take your dirty self and get out of here.”
I stared at Alpha Gabriel from the corner of my eyes. He was eating—quietly.
Since Alpha Gabriel was ignoring him, should I ignore him as well?
I tried to.
I picked up my fork but I just couldn't eat. I had lost my appetite just being in his presence.
“Did you hear me?!" He barked, his fingers clenched to the side.
This action caused a scene to flash before my eyes.
How I kept screaming when I saw him and my step sister fucking.
They couldn't hear me… their silence felt like they were ignoring me. That I wasn't worth listening to.
My fingers around the fork tightened but I remained focus on the meal before me. Just like Alpha Gabriel.
Steven switched.
" Father, I can't believe you're actually allowing this… thing… eat with you.”
His attention was now on his father.
No response.
“Can't you see she is using you?"
Silence.
“She doesn't even care, let alone love you." He turned to me, “Are you so desperate to get into the royal family?”
I could hear the pain in his voice.
His ego just got bruised.
Of course, he is hurt.
" You never loved me and acted all that so you could get close to my father and choose him. You stained the royal family's name in front of everyone!”
Alpha Gabriel was so unconcerned that I wondered if the food was really that delicious while Steven look like he was going to explode.
" Father, are you ignoring me too?” He asked in shock.
Are you just noticing?
I rolled my eyes.
“Can't you see that she's a snake. A fake.”
Still, no one answered him.
His patience was running thin. I could see it. I could feel it.
" I loved you, Kaela. I trusted you.” He hissed. " And this is how you repay me? All for what? Power? Money? I could have given all these to you. Do you have to go to such lengths?!"
“Aren’t you tired of yapping?" I asked with sincere concern, “No one's answering you. Can you allow your father and YOUR STEPMOTHER to eat in peace?"
Steven’s eyes widened
“W–ehat?" He stuttered, “What did you say?"
“You heard me, SON." I smirked.
Steven turned his gaze to his father, “D–did you hear that?” He asked, shaking in anger as he pointed his finger at me, "She even has the guts to refer to herself as my step mother. How dare you, Kaela. I swear to the goddess, you're leaving this house this minute."
Alpha Gabriel’s fingers paused… only slightly.
He began to eat again.
“The last time I checked, your father asked you to leave at the ceremony. What are you even doing here?”
" Oh, you…!" He gritted his teeth, walking closer to me.
Then paused.
His eyes flashed mischievously. My stomach churned as I watched him turned back to his father.
" Are you really sure you want to choose this slut over your son?"
My heart began to race.
What is he up to now?
But Alpha Gabriel didn't even pay him the slightest attention.
" Do you know that your dearest wife is carrying my child?”
My heart dropped.
No!
My desperate eyes snapped to Alpha Gabriel. He didn't seem affected one bit.
Was he deaf as well? I wondered.
I was carrying his son's child and married to him. Does that not strike a cord?
Or did he not hear what Steven had just said?
These same thought filled Steven’s mind. He walked towards his father again,
" Did you hear what I said? That bitch is carrying my child and is married to you."
Alpha Gabriel's fork paused mid-air.
My heart began to beat faster.
I swallowed.
" Exactly, Father.” Steven hissed, “I'll send her away this instant. She isn't fit to be in your presence."
Steven marched towards me, his steps faster and deliberate.
My gaze were fixed on Alpha Gabriel
Was he going to let Steven actually send me out?
Was he going to stay mute and allow his new Luna be discarded like that?
The moment Steven gripped my upper arm, I heard an authoritative voice that sent chills down my spine,
" Take your filthy hands off my wife this second.”
It wasn't loud.
But it held power and aura that even I shivered.
‘My wife’ echoed again and again in my head.
Steven let go of my arm like it was hot iron.
“Father, as the Alpha, you can't let her stay here. She has to be banished! The council wouldn't accept this.”
" Get out.”
His voice was firmer now.
I looked up.
I or Steven?
Before I could ask, Alpha Gabriel’s voice rang out,
“Guards!"
Two guards rushed into the dinning room in seconds.
“Walk Steven out." He said without looking at him. “And if he refuses, use force."
Steven's eyes widened.
" W–what?!”
His stared at his father in disbelief.
“Are you—"
“Yes. I am." Alpha Gabriel cut him off.
" Sir,” one of the guards said to Steven.
The other reached to him but Steven shoved his arm away,
“I can walk on my own!" He snapped, then spat through gritted teeth,
“You'll regret this, Kaela."
" Eat.” Alpha Gabriel said to me, completely ignoring Steven like his words didn't mean anything.
I picked up my fork again.
With the corner of my eyes, I watched Steven walk out of the dinning room.
I forced myself to chew my food. My mind was a mess.
What do I tell him about the pregnancy?
Will he send me away in private so not to embarrass me or will he request I abort the pregnancy?
