Chapter 6 She Wanted To Sleep With Me
She walked into the room and looked around. All the players were scattered across the room. She squatted down beside Kevin and grabbed him by the hair, pulling his head up so that she could look him in the eye.
“I asked you something. Are you sure I am the one you slept with?” she questioned with a warning tone.
Kevin stared with horror as she tightened her grip. “You… how are you—”
“Conscious?” Aurelia finished helpfully. “I didn’t drink enough of that drug to get knocked out,” she commented with a saccharine smile. “And it just so happens that I saved the bottle of water before you could get rid of it.”
She pointed to the bottle sitting on the nightstand with a menacing look.
“You—”
Aurelia slapped him across the face, stopping him from spouting any curses. She was not in the mood. She had long wanted to beat this man for what he had done to her. If she could, she would cut him open for taking advantage of her and then framing her.
“Shut up before I make you unable to speak.” She gripped his jaw, fully intending on dislocating it if she had to.
Kevin clamped his lips shut, knowing he was at a disadvantage.
“Yes! Yes!” Sarah howled. “I didn’t know anything about it!” she sobbed. “I really thought something was wrong, and I came inside to check. He pounced on me and tried to take advantage of me!” she pleaded.
Aurelia turned to Sarah. The other’s red-eyed stare did not affect her. The warning was clear, but Aurelia had no intention of outing Sarah for what she had done. This woman had more use than to be ruined in this sopping wet hotel room.
Aurelia pushed off her heels and tugged on the hem of her shirt to straighten it. “Luther, Sarah is traumatized. Putting her through this will only make things worse,” she advised softly.
Luther turned to her with a look of disbelief. “Have you lost your mind?” he hissed.
Aurelia shrugged. “I am not willing to see a girl explaining herself to you while she is naked and vulnerable. She said she was attacked, so she was attacked.” She stared back firmly, driving her point across.
Sarah bowed her head, her shoulders sagging with a mixture of disbelief and relief.
“No, she wanted to sleep with me! Don’t believe her!” Kevin screamed.
Aurelia picked up her feet and kicked him squarely at his side, making him grunt in pain and then fall silent.
Mathew pressed his lips together as he held Kevin down. At first, he was sure Aurelia would rip all of Kevin’s hair out. He already had the receding hairline gene, so he felt sorry, but then the subsequent hits really made him wonder if the things he had heard about Luther’s wife were true. She was quite the opposite of the rumors.
Luther pinched the bridge of his nose. He was quiet for a few moments before speaking, “It’s either that the two of you are lovers, or you took advantage of Sarah. Which one is it?”
While he asked this question, he eyed Aurelia suspiciously like she had the answer.
Of course, he had his suspicions, but he was too prejudiced to come to the right conclusion.
Sarah smirked.
“There is another way to find out—” an unwanted voice came out of nowhere. Aurelia looked over her shoulder and scoffed.
Casper had a look of pure disgust as his boots sank into the wet carpet. He picked one foot up and shook it, trying to rid the sole of wetness.
“Call the cops,” he announced.
Sarah leapt up. “No!” she screamed. “No cops!” she pleaded.
Aurelia shook her head. Of course, she knew this would be the case. She had been counting on it. “Okay, no cops,” she repeated. “But what should we do with him?” She pointed to Kevin’s prone form on the floor.
Sarah gulped and clutched at the blanket desperately. She looked between Aurelia and Luther and then shook her head. “I don’t know…”
Aurelia sighed and then walked around the bed to pick up the pieces of clothing scattered on the floor. She threw Kevin’s clothes at Sarah.
“Wear those.” She looked at the room full of men and added, “Let’s give her some privacy.”
She didn’t know how to handle this situation well. But she couldn’t help but feel guilty for putting Sarah through it. She had been on the other side of this, and the shame and fear she had felt still made her gasp for air whenever she thought about it.
While Sarah had plotted against her, she couldn’t bring herself to strip her and parade her around town with Kevin at her side.
She could have cleared her name, but she wanted to do worse to these people. She wanted them completely ruined.
“What about him?” Mathew asked helplessly. At first, he looked at Casper, but figuring his boss was just as clueless, stared bewildered at Aurelia.
“Take his boxers off and leave him in the hallway for everyone to see,” Casper commented mirthfully.
Aurelia pressed her lips together, trying to hide the laugh threatening to burst out. She was just about to say the same.
Kevin yelped as Mathew picked him up and threw him against the wall. She turned away as Mathew tugged at Kevin’s pants.
Luther brushed past her, muttering under her breath. Aurelia watched him disappear at the door, and her shoulders sank with relief. She followed hot on his heels, still keeping distance. Casper followed her out, and they waited for Mathew to drag Kevin out and drop him to the hallway floor.
Aurelia kept her eyes averted as she closed the door and leaned against it, waiting for Sarah to emerge.
“Niece-in-law, you’re really something,” Casper whispered.
Luther’s eyes lingered on Kevin’s naked body, and his mind turned with complicated thoughts. He glanced around and found the crowd had already dissipated. He knew for a fact it was his Uncle Casper who had scared them into retreating, but he felt a wave of humiliation.
He whipped around, ready to attack, and saw his exiled wife whispering and giggling with the man he loathed. His fists tightened at his side, and he lurched forward, grabbing her wrist and wrenching her away from Casper.
He leaned into her, his fingers digging into her skin. “What a good scheme you have come up with,” he whispered into her ear. “You’ll be punished for what you have done today.”
Aurelia trembled in his grip, her eyes widening with terror as she curled inwards. “I didn’t do anything!” she protested.
“I told you to lie low and not let me see you again,” he started. “But you had to make a fuss to grab my attention.” He pulled back, but still kept her close. “Do you know what happens to those who scheme against me?”
A shudder rolled through her body. Panic gripped her as she remembered those dreaded words.
“I warned you not to hurt her, but you never learn,” he sneered. “Do you know what happens to those who hurt my people?”
“You throw them in the basement and torture them to death,” the answer came out without her realizing. She had a faraway look in her eyes as she stared at him.
Luther gritted his teeth and gripped her shoulder. “Look at me, damn it.”
Aurelia snapped out of her reverie. “Luther, you’re always going to take someone else’s side, aren’t you?” she asked.
