Chapter 3 (3) - Leslie's POV
I knew trying to get along with Maddox Gordon would be hard. No, it's difficult. How do I answer to this foolery?
Did it hurt? Yeah, it did. It was my first time being fucked with a puck. But how do I, a grown ass man aged 34, tell that to a 19-year-old?
We don’t need to talk about it.
We both know that was, and will ever be a one time thing.
The sound of his heartbeat, it races rapidly as he places his hand on mine. It's funny how his palm are a bit larger and stronger than mine.
My heart thumps a bit more faster than it's usual rhythm but I'm good at hiding.
He smells like dominance.
His dominance reminds me of that night. He had no restraint at all. Bold, commanding, wild.
Before him, I’d only dated two betas, and neither could ever satisfy my wild hunger and need to be forced into submission.
He…he gave me what I wanted. He was the very solution to my wild heat that night.
“How old are you?”
"What?" I blurt out.
“How old are you?” he asks again.
I wring my hands out of his hold. “You should have asked this four months ago.” I sigh. "Thirty four."
“Fuck,” he mutters, and I’m sure more than he’s rethinking his choices. He must be regretting that night. I mean, I don't but...
I'm fifteen years his senior, I'm too old for him. I'm much much more experienced.
"I don’t care," he shocks me the steps toward me, reaching out and fitting my slender fingers into his fat ones once again. “Can we fuck again?”
My breath is stolen from my lungs when those four
words come hitting at me. I feel my nipples hit my shirt so shamelessly. “W-what did you just say to me?”
“I said, I want.....”
He's suddenly cut off by the sharp ringing of my phone.
With a sigh, I quickly pick it up as the name 'Mr. Barry' blares on the screen.
"Mr. Barry?"
"Vice President Singerr, I don't see Master Maddox on the ice."
I glare shots at the devil right in front of me. "He's right here with me. He wouldn't be joining the match today," I say with so much conviction.
I try to summon authority as I speak, but my attempt earns me a chuckle from Maddox.
"What are you laughing at?" I mouth without a sound.
I feel Maddox squeeze my hand. It's then I realize our hands are still intertwined. I quickly retract what belongs to me away from that firm grip.
How can a kid be so firm with his hold?
"Okay then. Just a reminder, vice president Singerr, he's the chairman's nephew. Don't go doing things you shouldn't do."
My heart thumps.
Barry definitely wasn't talking about doing things inappropriate. But I am guilty still.
"Noted," with that I put an end to the call. "Now, back to you."
Maddox nods. "Yes."
There's something about his eyes when they meet mine this time. Those yellow orbs were so dark now. I can tell he's plotting something.
But I have no time for games.
There's a reason why I don't approve of doing anything with younger men. They are just too... young!
I have no time to cradle egos, babysit feelings. And a text from my father absolutely saves me from that.
"I have to go now, Maddox Gordon. But here," I hand him my card. "Call me if anything. And don't you dare go on the ice to play. Not today. That's your punishment for having a loose priority."
I leave as soon as I can. I don't wait for his response.
I'm barely into my car when my father calls. My breath shallows as I stare at the glowing screen.
For five seconds, I hesitate, contemplating turning the phone off. But then work. My phone needs to be on at all times. Who knows when the chairman would call? Or when an emergency would occur?
And if I don't answer, the calls will only become more relentless, escalating into unannounced visits or threats left on voicemails.
My hand trembles as I swipe right and press the phone to my ear. "Owen."
A booming, gravelly baritone, instantly fills my car when he speaks. "Took you long enough. What, you too busy for your own flesh and blood now?"
My free hand grips the steering so tightly my knuckles turn white. Flesh and blood? Tsk.
I can loudly hear the memory of this man beating the hell out of me with a belt coated with lime thorns, as he screamed repeatedly 'Do not call me father! I am not your father! I am Owen.'
It haunts me.
"Come to greet your mother tonight and stay for dinner." He urges. He doesn't ask, he orders. "I have also invited Katia. Stop at the powder house and get the AB powder. Pack some extra clothes."
The casual cruelty stings just as it always did.
AB powder? That's a powder that makes a man want to fuck a woman. Powders like that are meant for Alphas and Betas with feral sexual dysfunction.
"Owen, I am not like that. I am a Sigma," I explain again, something he already knows about being my father but fails to accept. "I am merely an overpowered Omega, I still see heat and not rut. I can't give what I do not have."
"Oh, shut your fucking sissy mouth Leslie!" He barks.
I instantly feel the familiar urge to shrink, to apologize, to wish I was born Alpha.
Maybe if I was born an alpha, my father would have let me call him Dad. Maybe he wouldn't have to use my mother as an excuse to call me back home. Maybe he would have let me be 'Leslie Owen' and not 'Leslie Singerr'—not having me bear my mother's maiden name.
Maybe I wouldn't have to prove myself in life. Maybe I wouldn't have to hide in a restricted room when I'm in heat. No, maybe there wouldn't be no heat at all.
"...just as useless as your mother. She can't bear an alpha, and you can't be helpful to the man who gave you life! Do you know how hard it is to find an alpha born woman who is willing to grace your bloodline with an alpha? If you could have six kids with her, maybe one or two would be alphas. But no, you rather let an alpha fuck your worthless ass—"
I close my eyes. I am as hell exhausted.
I lower the phone until it drops to the passenger seat. I stop listening to the specific insults. I let the venom wash over me like white noise.
I detach, I mentally retreat into a safe space in my mind, waiting for it to end. This is my survival tactic.
Even when it ends, I remain zoned out. But not for long, because someone suddenly comes knocking at my window.
"Maddox?"
"Hey, Mr. Leslie," he looks worried, saying my name with so much concern. "You okay? I've been knocking for a while now."
Dammit! Shit! SHIT!
I come back to my senses in time to realize my body has gone into a fever. An intense fever that I am quite familiar with! It's that time of the month again.
It is almost dusk, the sun is gone but it's still bright. This is a public space and I dare not wind down my car windows.
I quickly reach into my car's cupholder and take out some medicines.
There are various medicines on my palm and I'm shaking a lot.. these are all inhibitors. These are the one of the reasons why I need a big pay.
My eyes are clouded from the uncontrollable fever and I can't tell what medicine works best for an instant heat suppression.
I randomly swallow the first and return the rest.
"Mr. Leslie?" Maddox calls again from outside, this time with a panicking voice.
But I just need ten seconds. That's it. If it's the right medicine then, just ten.
Six... Seven... Eight...
"I'm unlocking this door if you don't open it now," Maddox is mad worried now. These darn Alphas—of course they could unlock locks!
Nine.. and ten!
On the contrary, the medicine was the wrong one. Some times I love to enjoy my heat when I'm all alone and fuck myself with a dildo. So, yeah, I have medicines that take an hour or two before it suppresses shit.
My heat flows through my body, it becomes naturally intense.
"Ah ... ah! Fuck!"
I need to keep trying. I need to take another till I find the right one. But before I could reach into the cupholder again, I hear the unlocking click of my door.
A slight opening of my car's door and my pheromones are spilling out. God! No!
I grab my car doorknob and shut the door.
I know, I know I shouldn't be competing with an Alpha over a door, but this is my car door. And I'm only taking precautions.
Omegas smell annoyingly good when in heat, but I'm a sigma. My pheromones are stinky and intoxicating. If omegas smell like sweet pineapple, I reek of durian.
I'm worried that one of the Alpha boys around here would notice and then the whole world would come to know that I'm not as tough as I seem.
I look up, out the window to Maddox and see a big frown on his face.
