Chapter 2 Episode two

Monalisa

Morning sunlight spilled through the curtains and landed directly on my face.

I groaned and turned to the other side of the bed, dragging the blanket with me, but the heat still followed. The brightness pierced through my closed eyes like it was determined to ruin my sleep.

With an irritated hiss, I finally sat up.

And there he was.

Alexander Lucas stood near the wardrobe, adjusting the cuff of his black suit while fixing his blue tie in the mirror. He looked like he had stepped out of a billionaire magazine cover. His cold expression, perfectly styled curly hair, broad shoulders, expensive watch glinted under the sunlight.

Annoyingly handsome.

I narrowed my eyes.

Jerk.

I thought allowing me to sleep on the bed while he used the couch last night meant he had at least a tiny strand of decency hiding somewhere inside him.

Clearly, I had overestimated him.

“Why did you open the curtains?” I snapped, shielding my eyes. “Are you blind? Can’t you see someone is still sleeping?”

He didn’t even look guilty.

“And can’t you see I’m getting dressed?” he shot back smoothly. “Why should I care if you’re sleeping?”

The arrogance in his voice made me want to throw a pillow at his head.

Instead, I glared at him silently while he bent down to wear his shoes.

Unfortunately for me, the silence only made it easier to notice things I didn’t want to notice.

Alexander was unfairly attractive.

His face still carried that soft boyish look despite the coldness in his eyes. His lips were naturally pink, his jaw sharp enough to cut glass, and his expensive suit hugged his body perfectly.

No wonder women practically threw themselves at him.

Still didn’t change the fact that he was insufferable.

He grabbed his briefcase and headed for the door.

"Finally. Peace at last" I exhaled.

Then he suddenly stopped and turned toward me. My heart skipped. Did he hear that?.

“I’m leaving for work,” he said flatly. “If you’re hungry, you can join everyone downstairs for breakfast.”

I blinked in surprise. Why was he acting normal?

Suspicious.

“Don’t misunderstand,” he added coldly. “I just don’t want people saying my wife looks starved and sick.”

There it is, as expected.

I folded my arms tightly. “What is that supposed to mean?”

“And one more thing,” he continued, completely ignoring my question. “Don’t cause trouble in this house.”

What?.

His eyes hardened slightly.“Because I won’t tolerate it.”

And with that, he walked out and the door shut behind him. I stared at it for two seconds before mocking him under my breath.

“Don’t cause trouble in this house,” I mimicked dramatically. “I won’t tolerate it.”

I rolled my eyes hard.“To hell with you and your stupid warnings.”

Honestly, the man behaved like he owned the entire planet.

I pushed my hair away from my face and inhaled slowly, forcing myself to calm down. There was no way I was going downstairs to eat breakfast with his family. I didn’t trust any of them enough for that. I’d rather buy food outside.

Getting off the bed, I grabbed a towel and headed into the bathroom.

A few minutes later, the tub was filled with warm water, bubbles, and rose petals floating gently on the surface. Alexander’s mother had gifted me the expensive bath products yesterday after the wedding.

Apparently they were supposed to make my skin glow brighter. Rich people and their strange obsessions.

I slipped into the bathtub slowly and nearly moaned at the sensation.

This felt heavenly.

Back home, I was used to standing for long minutes in a cramped bathroom, scooping water from a bucket until my back ached.

But here?

I was soaking in warm scented water like some spoiled princess.

I could get used to this. Way too easily.

After what felt like forever, I finally stepped out of the bathroom feeling refreshed.

I rubbed lotion over my skin while music blasted softly from my phone.

“You are my queen and I can’t wait to run into your arms.” I sang loudly, dancing badly around the room.

For the first time, I properly noticed the wardrobe Alex had arranged for me. My lips instantly pressed into a line.

His wardrobe was bigger.

Much bigger.

Excuse me?

I walked toward it with narrowed eyes. That man really gave himself more space.

The audacity.

“We’ll definitely discuss this tonight,” I muttered.

Opening the wardrobe, I scanned through the expensive clothes hanging neatly inside. Alexander had bought them all after forcing me to throw away my old clothes.

According to him, he refuse to let a “beggar” embarrass him publicly by dressing poorly.

Thinking about it still made my blood boil.

I eventually picked a short green gown and slipped into it.

Just as I adjusted the straps, the bedroom door suddenly opened and Alexander walked in.

I froze for half a second before glaring at him.

“Were you not taught to knock before entering a room?” I snapped. “Or are basic manners too difficult for you?”

He closed the door calmly.

“This isn’t just any room,” he said coolly. “It’s my room. I can walk in whenever I want.”

I scoffed.

Of course he would say that.

He loosened his tie with obvious irritation before walking toward the couch and dropping onto it heavily.

I frowned.

“Why are you sitting down? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?”

His eyes lifted lazily toward me.

“Why do I feel like you’re trying to chase me out?”

“Because I am,” I replied immediately. “The faster you leave, the faster I can breathe fresh air again.”

His jaw tightened slightly.

“Trust me, spending time with you isn’t exactly my favorite activity either.” He leaned back against the couch. “But my mother refuses to let me leave.”

I blinked.“What do you mean?”

“She thinks newly married couples should spend time together.”

I stared at him suspiciously. Then realization hit me.

“Wait… don’t tell me she’s planning a honeymoon.” I exclaimed with widened eyes.

“Exactly.” He looked completely horrified. “And the thought alone is exhausting.”

I rolled my eyes instantly. “Please, you’re not the only victim here.”

The last thing I wanted was to be trapped on some romantic vacation with Alex

ander Lucas. I walked over and sat on the opposite side of the couch as we both went quiet wondering how to get out of this mess.
