Chapter 3 Approaches To Revenge

“Julian Smith?” I asked, and Jessie nodded confidently.

I tried to remember that name, but there was no memory of a man named Julian Smith in my mind.

The only possibility was that he might be Jade Mason’s enemy, trying to bring him down by using my name. It was clear that his post was trying to corner Jade.

“Could you please arrange a meeting with that man?” I asked Jessie.

“For what? You cannot interfere in other people’s affairs, Miss. Please focus on Leander Group.” Jessie stopped me. She did not like me getting involved in what was going viral on social media about Nadine Myer’s death.

In truth, what I was feeling now was not the emotion of a fan, but because that person was me.

If I told everyone that I was living inside Viona Leander’s body, they would think I was insane.

“Are you really this bold, Jessie? Please do not forget that you are my subordinate.” I had only known Jessie for the past month. She was the first face I saw when I first opened my eyes as Viona.

And I did not truly know her, only that she was far too controlling.

“We have always been like this. You always told me to remind you whenever you started drifting away from your work. Your top priority has always been Leander Group.” Jessie reminded me of how professional and perfectionistic Viona was, though I remembered nothing about it.

“Instead of arranging a meeting with Julian Smith, how about we arrange one with Jade Mason?” Jessie smiled at me.

“Are you a fan of Jade Mason?” I asked, amused.

“Not for my own interests, but for the interests of our company,” Jessie said with a hopeful expression.

“How ridiculous. As if Leander Group cannot launch this product without them. Why must we make this product when we can create something else? Healthy noodles for the elderly, for example?” I said in disbelief.

“We have already made that before, Miss. Why have you been forgetting so many things lately?” Jessie asked, making me desperately hide my shock upon learning that we had once made such a product.

“Ah yes, I forgot,” I said briefly.

“I will call Jade Mason’s assistant right now and arrange a meeting immediately.” Jessie hurriedly took out her phone with excitement, making me roll my eyes in annoyance.

“Hello, this is Jessie from Leander Group. We are planning to propose a collaboration with Mason Group for our latest product. May we arrange a meeting to discuss it further?” Jessie spoke gently and politely.

They then talked for several minutes. I did not pay close attention and only waited for the final result.

But honestly, I hoped Jade was too busy to meet with us.

“Miss, they said you may come directly to Mason Group’s office tomorrow and meet Jade Mason personally,” Jessie said, and unfortunately everything went against my hopes.

“They said your name carries great weight, and they would not waste the opportunity to collaborate with you.”

Right. I had forgotten that I was inside the body of Viona Leander, a woman famous for her business talent. And that made many people unwilling to waste the chance to collaborate with me, or even simply meet me to build connections.

The next morning, Jessie asked me to wear something attractive for my meeting with Jade. I even thought Jessie was trying to matchmake me with that bastard, but she kept insisting it was for the sake of our company.

When we arrived in front of the Mason Group building, all my past memories began spinning through my mind.

I had once entered this office and become the center of attention for many people, especially the women.

Most of them had shot sharp glances at me, whispering among themselves and gossiping as though I was unworthy of being Jade Mason’s lover.

Since then, I had never wanted to meet him at the office again.

Now I walked in calmly. Some people who recognized me as Viona Leander immediately lowered their heads respectfully, as though Jade and I were equals. Shameless bootlickers—I could not stop cursing them in my heart.

When the door to Jade’s office was opened and we were invited inside by his assistant named Jimmy, my heart pounded loudly.

And when I saw Jade in his chair, busy with the documents on his desk, a longing I desperately denied suddenly rose inside me.

I wanted to hug that bastard, yet at the same time I wanted to pound on his chest and ask how he could betray me so cruelly.

“Miss, please come in.” Jimmy pulled me out of my thoughts.

I entered Jade’s office and sat on a sofa while waiting for him to finish his work.

Jessie remained calm beside me. From time to time, she whispered and praised how handsome Jade Mason was.

“I think Jade is very handsome. Maybe he could become—”

“Stop, Jessie. I already told you he is a traitor. He betrayed Nadine Myer and cheated on her until that accident happened,” I said, cutting Jessie off.

“You speak as if Nadine were you,” Jessie said sadly.

“He may be cruel to one person, but kind to another. Is that not how all humans are? Perhaps you would be the lucky one who receives his kindness,” Jessie continued, making me immediately step on her foot under the table.

While we were busy talking about such unimportant things, suddenly someone’s voice could be heard outside Jade’s office.

“Mr. Jade, I have brought today’s meeting schedule.”

It was a woman’s voice. She seemed to be Jade’s new secretary because her voice sounded unfamiliar.

And when the door opened, Irene walked into the room.

At once, the memory inside the car that caused my accident replayed in my mind. The same heartbreak as back then, and the same swelling urge to confront them that I felt now.

I gripped the handbag on my lap tightly, trying to channel my anger toward her.

“Ah, I did not know you had guests.” Irene apologized, but her eyes were full of suspicion as she looked at me. She was probably on guard when she saw a beautiful woman like Viona inside Jade’s office.

“She is Jade’s mistress,” I said quietly, but loudly enough for Jessie to hear.

“How do you know?” Jessie asked.

Before I could answer Jessie’s question, Jade had already risen from his chair and invited Irene to join us in discussing the collaboration Leander Group wished to propose.

As Irene and Jade sat down, I could not resist provoking them.

“Should a secretary dress this sexy?” My question confused both Jade and Irene.

“How pitiful for Nadine Myer if she knew her lover had a sexy woman working for him.” My words shocked not only them, but also Jessie and Jimmy, who were still in the room.

“I think Nadine really should come back to life and see this.”

“Miss, what are you talking about?” Jessie scolded me.

And Jade looked at me with one eyebrow raised.
