Chapter 8 Then Let’s Get Married

“Mrs. Watson, please don’t worry,” the attending doctor said cheerfully. “Your baby is doing just fine—healthy and strong.”

Cora’s face went white.

Her eyes widened as she grabbed the doctor’s wrist, her voice trembling.

“W–what did you just say? Baby? You mean I’m… pregnant?”

Her mind blanked.

She’d always loved children—dreamed of having one someday.

But not like this.

Not with him.

The nightmare she thought she’d escaped had come back, dragging her deeper into its shadows.

Why? Why was fate so cruel as to remind her again of that night—of everything she’d tried to forget?

Outside, Julian was at his breaking point.

“No!” His voice thundered through the corridor. “I don’t care what anyone says—I will not marry her!”

His fury barely contained, he faced his grandmother. “I won’t marry a woman I don’t love!”

Madam Yoon’s eyes hardened, her voice like ice.

“Julian, you had better think carefully. The company is about to sign a major partnership with the Korean conglomerate. Their chairman and his wife will be visiting soon—and their entire philosophy revolves around family values.”

Her tone sharpened.

“If they find out you got a woman pregnant and abandoned her, what do you think that will do to the Watson name?”

Julian’s anger stalled.

He drew a slow breath, reached for a cigarette, and lit it.

By the time he finished, the fire in his expression had been replaced by something colder—controlled, calculating.

The infamous Mr. Watson was back.

Seeing this, Madam Yoon pressed on.

“My position is clear: you will marry her. I won’t allow you to hide her away and abandon the mother of this child. That would destroy our reputation and jeopardize the Korean contract. We’re talking about a ten-year alliance, Julian. Ten years of profit and influence—I won’t let anything ruin that.”

Her tone softened slightly, but the command behind it did not.

“And remember—without an heir, your uncles and cousins are already eyeing your seat. The moment you make one wrong move, everything you’ve built could crumble. You know what must be done.”

Julian’s hands clenched at his sides.

She was right—every word.

He held the CEO title because his grandmother had defied the board to put him there.

The rest of the family still hated him for it.

He’d silenced them with results, but power like his was fragile.

And after that hotel scandal a month ago, his reputation was already under scrutiny.

If this new incident wasn’t contained, it could destroy him—and the Korean partners probably already believed the woman in the tabloids was his “Mrs. Watson.”

He looked up at his grandmother at last, exhaustion written across his face.

“Fine,” he said quietly. “I’ll marry her. She can have the child.”

Madam Yoon smiled, proud and satisfied.

There was her grandson—the one who understood power, strategy, sacrifice.

She patted his shoulder. “Good boy. Go calm the girl down. I trust you know what to do.”

With that, she turned and left the room.

Julian watched her go, his eyes lowering to the polished floor.

The light in them was cold, unreadable.

He would marry her.

But he’d never live with her—not truly.

It would be a contract, nothing more.

And Julian Watson never lost a negotiation.

Inside the suite, Cora sat curled up on the bed, her knees pulled tightly to her chest as silent sobs shook her body.

The nurses and doctors glanced at one another, whispering.

How strange—most women would rejoice at carrying the Watson heir, but this one looked utterly broken.

The door opened.

Julian stepped inside, his long stride echoing against the marble floor.

He barely glanced at the staff.

“Leave us.”

“Mr. Watson… the young madam—” the doctor began.

“I said leave.”

The command in his voice made everyone scatter.

Cora lifted her head, startled by the sound.

And when she saw him—when she finally recognized the man standing before her—her tears spilled over again, uncontrollable, endless.

Now she understood who he was.

The man from that night.

The man who had changed everything.
