Chapter 4 The Hayes Heir Turns Out to Be Mentally Disabled

Grace stubbornly denied it. "I've never had a child."

Alexander's cold eyes narrowed dangerously. "You're still trying to lie to me?"

Grace shot back, "Alexander, I said I never gave birth, and I mean it. You kidnapped me and brought me here, demanding a child—if you want children, there are plenty of women lining up to have them for you! Why come looking for me?"

Alexander had no patience for her evasions.

He said coldly, "Everyone out."

All the staff retreated immediately.

The door closed behind him.

Alexander's gaze fell on her again, his imposing aura so overwhelming that even from several feet away, it felt suffocating.

Grace instinctively stepped back, pressing herself firmly against the wall.

Alexander interrogated her while his eyes swept over her body. "Natural birth or C-section?"

Grace nervously caught her breath. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Alexander suddenly approached her. "Whether you've had children or not, an examination will tell us everything."

At 6'4", his presence was intimidating.

He glanced at her and stepped closer, making her spine stiffen.

With each step forward, she retreated toward the bed until she had nowhere left to go and tumbled backward onto the mattress.

In an instant, Alexander was at the bedside, gripping her chin firmly and demanding coldly, "This is your last chance. Tell me about the child, and I'll let you go."

He was far too close.

So close that with just a light breath, she could catch his distinctive masculine scent.

Grace suddenly felt an urgent sense of threat.

Alexander must have investigated her background and discovered she'd never remarried. Perhaps he'd also looked into Max, but she wasn't certain and didn't dare mention Max casually—wouldn't that be a confession?

She had no way to explain Max's origins, so she clung to false hope and insisted, "I told you I never gave birth, and I mean it!"

"Won't talk?" The man's towering frame pressed closer as he suddenly grabbed both her hands, pinning them behind her back.

"It hurts... Alexander, let go!" Taking advantage of the man's distraction as he stared at her abdomen, Grace desperately bit down on his neck.

Alexander jerked back in pain.

Grace struggled to flip over and jump off the bed, but Alexander reacted faster, grabbing her slender legs and pulling her back beneath him.

He pinned her down on the bed, warning coldly, "Do you think you can escape?"

Grace fought and struggled desperately, her small hands beating against his immovable body like scratching an itch.

He didn't budge an inch.

Grace screamed in terror, "What are you doing?"

"Whether you've had children or not—an examination will tell us."

Alexander's large hand yanked, tearing her clothing and exposing her flat, smooth abdomen.

Grace shouted in humiliation, "Alexander, you've lost your mind!" She felt violated and degraded.

Alexander ignored her struggles, his gaze examining every inch of her stomach until it stopped at what appeared to be a faint surgical scar from a C-section.

His fingertip gently traced the scar.

Though the mark was so faded it was barely visible, his keen observation skills immediately aroused suspicion, his eyes full of scrutiny. "What's this?"

Grace quickly said, "That's a surgical scar."

Alexander narrowed his eyes. "From a C-section?"

Grace explained, "That's from my appendectomy."

This explanation clearly didn't dispel his doubts.

Alexander moved to examine further, but she frantically grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him, cursing furiously, "Bastard! Alexander, you bastard!"

The pillow flew toward him.

Alexander easily dodged it.

The pillow knocked over an $800,000 crystal vase behind him, shattering it across the floor.

Grace gritted her teeth. "You maniac!" What the hell was he trying to do?

Alexander's expression froze. "You dare curse at me?"

Seeing her torn clothing, the matching parent-child outfit she shared with Max, Grace felt heartbroken and furious. She slapped him hard across the face. "So what if I curse at you? Psycho! Bastard!"

At that moment, the doctor, butler, and bodyguards who'd heard the commotion burst through the door just in time to witness Grace repeatedly cursing at Alexander. They collectively gasped and covered their mouths in shock!

This woman actually dared to slap Alexander?

Alexander slightly furrowed his brow, his large hand touching where she'd struck him, a hint of anger brewing in his phoenix eyes.

He turned around to see the stunned crowd, his gaze growing even colder.

Everyone immediately lowered their heads, not daring to meet his eyes.

Alexander ordered, "Bring the child!"

Five minutes later, Liam was carried in by a nanny.

Grace froze the moment she saw Liam.

The little boy looked exactly like Alexander—as if they'd been carved from the same mold.

This was Alexander's child?

One he'd had with another woman?

Seeing Grace staring blankly in confusion, Alexander questioned, "The child you gave birth to—don't you recognize him?"

Grace said in shock, "My child?"

Alexander pressed, "Are you pretending not to recognize him, or is it because Liam was born with intellectual disabilities that you don't want to acknowledge him? You just gave birth and abandoned all responsibility?"

Grace replied, "I'm not that kind of heartless woman. If this were my child, I wouldn't abandon him because of intellectual disabilities!"

She'd only given birth to two children—the older one died, and the younger one was named Max Foster, whom she'd raised alone all these years.

But she had to keep Max's existence strictly secret.

Alexander held Liam and demanded, "Then how do you explain your pregnancy history?"

Grace said urgently, "I really never had children!" At least this child definitely wasn't hers.

Alexander didn't want to waste more time talking. He ordered his subordinates, "Draw her blood for a paternity test!"

With that, he carried Liam and left.

"Alexander!" Grace chased to the doorway but was restrained by bodyguards. She struggled briefly, then said through gritted teeth, "This is illegal detention! I can sue you!"

A nearby bodyguard chuckled coldly. "Ms. Foster, save your energy. Do you want to bankrupt yourself with legal fees?"

Fighting a lawsuit against Alexander would literally cost her everything!

Grace felt somewhat defeated!

Outside the door, two doctors entered.

Grace was quickly pinned to the bed as a doctor approached, tied a rubber band around her arm, and prepared to draw blood.

Grace watched the sterilized needle slowly pierce her skin, blood steadily flowing into the collection tube. She could only watch helplessly as her blood was drawn, powerless to resist.

In the cozy nursery.

The nanny gently placed Liam on the bed and tucked him under the covers.

Alexander stood in the doorway. Behind him, a bodyguard approached and reported, "Mr. Hayes, the doctor has drawn the blood and sent it for testing. Results should be ready in about three days."
