Chapter 11 Oswald Family's Highest Guest Card (2)

Inside his heart, Owen Jasper was shocked to see the card.

The chairman had personally called him this morning. The chairman had told him Oliver Brown had informed him that a representative carrying the Oswald Family's highest guest card might arrive any day soon.

The Oswald Family!

One of the most powerful families in the country! Their influence alone reached every corner of society.

The chairman had specifically warned him that the card holder would likely appear very ordinary.

So when Owen saw Byron dressed in luxury brands and then saw Roy's worn clothes he wasn't confused at all. His attention immediately locked onto Roy.

Holding the black card respectfully in both hands, Owen spoke with a serious tone that made everyone's hearts tighten. "May I ask who presented this card?"

Jeffrey immediately pointed at Roy, "It's him!"

"That's right!"

"Roy West brought it out!"

Several others quickly followed, pointing their fingers at Roy.

Roy slowly raised his head.

"That would be me," he answered for himself.

The entire room waited for what would happen next. Some were expecting Roy to be thrown out immediately. They expected security guards to rush in by now.

Instead, Owen walked directly toward Roy then respectfully handed the card back.

"Mr. West," his voice contained obvious respect. "The card has been verified."

"..."

The room froze. Verified? What did that mean?

Before anyone could react, Owen turned toward the female manager. "Is Mr. West covering all the bills?"

The manager hurriedly shook her head, answering. "No, sir. Mr. West and Mr. Paul had an agreement to split the bill. Mr. West's portion is Eighty-one thousand seven hundred dollars, sir."

Owen nodded. "$81,700. Good."

Then he looked back at Roy. "Mr. West, your bill has already been settled."

The entire private room went silent. It looked like a photograph because nobody moved or even spoke.

Valerie's eyes widened and Taylor's mouth slowly fell open..Even Jay and Jacob stared blankly at Roy.

Settled? Just like that? Roy's eighty-thousand-dollar bill was settled? Jeffrey felt his scalp go numb. The terrifying thought of that bet instantly surfaced in his mind. The bet! His face immediately turned pale.

Under the table, he subconsciously glanced toward Roy's worn shoes. Cold sweat instantly dripped down Jeffery's neck imagining how ugly Roy's feet could be.

And what if someone recorded him licking Roy's feet and uploaded it online, then his father would kill him. His father was a prideful inspector general!

The thought alone made his stomach twist.

Meanwhile, Owen respectfully lowered his head. "Mr. West, is there anything else I can assist you with?"

Roy calmly looked at him, then crooked a finger telling him to come closer.

Owen immediately stepped forward. Roy whispered a few words into his ear and Owen listened. As he listened, his gaze slowly shifted towards the expensive watch on Byron's wrist.

A moment later, Owen nodded.

"I understand." Then he straightened his back and turned toward Byron. His face became cold and professional once again. "Mr. Paul..You may proceed with settling your portion of the bill now."

Roy quickly tapped his friends, it was time to leave.

Immediately Roy, Jacob and Jay were leaving, Lisa followed behind. She was starting to like Roy. Or maybe his new behavior. She liked how he stood up for himself.

"Hey, Roy West," she stopped him outside the door.

Roy turned back and saw her then turned to his friends again. Waving them off, he said, "Jay, please take Jacob home. We will talk later."

Jay, who had been quiet after that manager bowed to Roy, just nodded. He was ashamed to even speak.

He wanted to ask Roy how he got that card, but the way he joined the others to mock Roy inside that room kept replaying in his head, making him feel guilty.

He just held drunk Jacob and led him to the elevator. When next he met Roy, he would ask about the card. Hopefully, Roy would confess he stole it, because that's what Jay had in mind. How else would a Walmart guy get such a card, if not that he picked it?

Roy then turned back again to Lisa. "Yes?"

Lisa's face flushed with embarrassment as she remembered how she used to ridicule him in college. Now, here she was, anxious in front of him.

"Actually," she brought out her phone from her purse and gave it to Roy. "Can you give me your number?"

Roy's eyes widened.

Roy was beyond shocked. Lisa was a pretty girl and if it wasn't for her bad mouth and useless friend Taylor, she would have been a good girl with a sharp face card.

Maybe her face was the reason why Jacob liked her back then in college.

But she was such a bully, Jacob was scared to ask her out.

Meanwhile, he didn't want anything to do with her.

"My phone was taken away from me yesterday night and the SIM card was roasted to ashes. I don't have one right now."

Well, the first one wasn't a lie. He had gotten himself a new phone though, he just wanted to avoid anyone connected closely to Valerie.

Lisa's face burned with embarrassment. Her hands shook as she pouted sadly.

Roy was making her taste a feeling she had never tasted before.

Shame!

"But," Roy handed the phone back to her. "If you have Jacob's number then text him and make sure you keep in touch with him. If I get a new phone, he'd be the first to know and he'd give you my number."

Tactics!

His friend too deserved the attention of a pretty girl like Lisa.

Lisa's face quickly lit up, then darkened immediately. She didn't have Jacob's number.

"What?" Roy asked.

Lisa shook her head. "Nothing. I will text Jacob."

She feigned a smile. She could just get Jacob's number from Clark.

Roy then walked away without even saying a goodbye.
