Chapter 4 Chapter 4
I felt my heard pounding in my chest as soon as got to my house house….
What in God's name did I just do?
“Oh my God” I whispered to myself
How did I end up in bed with a stranger?
“I knew I shouldn't have drank last night” I'm even late for work!
“Holy shit!”
I bolted upstairs, almost tripping on my way as I storm into the bathroom to get ready.
It's my first day and I'm already late.

Declan turned to his side as the sound from his ringing phone disrupted his sleep. He stirred before opening up his eyes to find himself in his car.
“Oh my….” He groaned as he sat up straight.
He picked up his phone to Rick blowing up his phone.
“Hello?” His voice came out deep and still full of sleep.
“You're still in bed?”
He looked around…..
Wait, what happened last night?
The memories slowly fill his mind, causing him to shut his eyes with a sigh.
“Shit” he whispered
“I'm at your house but you're nowhere in sight. Where exactly did you sleep?”
He picked up his shirt from the seat “I'm on my way, Rick” he hung up.
He couldn't believe he allowed himself spend the night a drunk lady. She must have woken up to think he was an abuser or something.
“Have to get out of here” he decided to push the memory away, starting up his car and speeding off.

I stared myself in the mirror as I brushed my hair out….I felt absolutely disgusted on the inside.
How drunk was I?
“Oh God, how do I tell Jake?” I ran my fingers through my hair as I dropped the brush in frustration.
This was so unlike me.
I shook the thought of and picked up my bag, there's no time to ponder on this —i had work to do.
I picked up my bag and e everything else needed before dashing out and heading straight for work.
….
I felt goosebumps all over my body the moment I stepped into Norex…..I was so late.
The building could be seen from a mile away as it's top almost reached the sky. It was located at one of the most busiest parts of Florida and surrounded with people of class and top financial status.
I hesitantly walk into the building, approaching the receptionist.
“Hi, good morning” I manges to force a smile “I'm the new assistant operations coordinator”
She frowned, looking up at the clock “Ma'am, you're really late”
“I'm so sorry, I can't even begin to explain what happened” even I can't understand.
“Good thing the boss isn't here yet. Just wait a bit for him please, it's better he meets you here than get here before you”
I nodded “alright, I'll wait. Thank you”

“Rick, please” Declan picked up my car key, heading out my house.
“We have a meeting this morning, where did you disappear to?”
He ignored him.
How does he explain ended up with a drunk lady? He can't even understand how it happened.
“I told you I spent the night out” he started his car and Rick joined in on the passengers seat.
“That's unlike you” he pointed out
“Can we drop it?”
Rick raised his hands in defense, picking up his phone to kill the conversation.
“Has the new staff resumed?” He turned to Rick
“I'm assuming she has. I haven't been to the office this morning”
“Well you better find out if she's there, I'm not working with someone who can't be on time”
……
Not too long after, they pull up at the office. He stepped out from the car, some of his employees waiting outside for his arrival.
“Good Morning, Sir” they all greeted in sync as they accompanied him into the building.
“Sir, your meeting for this morning has been moved” one of them said, trailing behind him.
He nodded, turning to Rick “please, schedule it for today. We can't postpone it”
“What time?” Rick asked, scrolling through his phone
He looked at his watch “between 12 to 2” he then arrives at the reception
“Good morning, Linda. Is the new employee here? I need to speak with her now”
“Yes, Sir. She's been waiting for you” she gestured to the seating area where a lady sat silently.
His brows lowered as he tried to observe the lady properly….
Why did she look familiar?
He took small steps towards her, his shoe clicking on the floor as he approached her
“Miss Blake?”
She immediately jolted up, holding on to her purse like her life depended on it.
“Good morning…..” she immediately falls quiet, her eyes slowly widening.
He felt goosebumps as he recognized the face of the woman standing before him—the same woman he had spent a passionate night with just last night.
“You’re….the new employee?” He stuttered as he stared at her in surprise, his workers standing in confusion behind him.
“You're my….boss?” But then it suddenly clicked to her….she knew him “Declan Harris” she whispered as her purse slipped off her hand.
Declan felt his face hit up a bit as he looked at the woman he tried to push memories about to the back of his head.
“Give me a second” he said to his staffs standing behind him without breaking his gaze from the lady.
Immediately they were out of sight, he asked
“Did you know I was your boss last night?”
She shook her head embarrassed, her head hanging low as her cheeks hit up.
He noticed her embarrassed face and her unwi
llingness to look at him so he decided to drop the topic.
“I'll have someone show you to your office and I'll get my assistant to address you. Please, excuse me”
And with that, he walked away.
She watched him as he walked into the elevator while she stood glued the floor, embarrassment eating her up from the inside.
How did she get into this mess?
