Chapter 5 Medical Drama Production
Standing in front of the ward, she turned to the media and said, "That's it for today, folks. Thanks for your time."
Working with Elora and getting to leave early was an unexpected treat for everyone.
As soon as she finished speaking, the crowd dispersed, leaving just the hospital staff behind.
Even though Elora and Gregory tried to keep their relationship under wraps, the hospital staff knew they were family. No one dared to slack off around her because of their career ambitions.
"Hey, everyone, since I'm here at the hospital today, might as well pitch in and help, right?" Elora raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly.
The doctors following her nodded in agreement.
She walked into Isabella's office, noticing Robert standing nearby, and a hint of admiration flashed in her eyes.
"Didn't expect to see you with a new assistant. But getting so cozy during work hours isn't exactly professional, especially since you're a mom now..." Elora remarked, glancing at Robert.
Before they could respond, Elora picked up Isabella's medical records from the desk, skimmed through them, and tossed them back onto the table.
"These records are a mess. This, this, and this—rewrite them all!"
There were about three hundred records on the desk.
"Ms. Harris, you're in the administrative department, right?" Isabella glanced at Elora's name badge. "Mr. Harris approved all these records. Are you saying he made mistakes in his work?"
Isabella smiled faintly and picked up the phone, dialing a number. "Medical department? We have a colleague here interested in our medical records. Isn't there a training program coming up? Maybe she could join."
She paused briefly before continuing, "Yes, her name is Elora."
The training program involved grueling daily sessions averaging over ten hours.
Elora was momentarily speechless, her face turning sour.
Laughter from the surrounding doctors filled the room.
Isabella assumed Elora would back down, but surprisingly, Elora stood her ground.
She tried to sow discord between Robert and Isabella. "Dr. Lopez, working with Dr. Garcia must be tough. Her bad temper must bring you a lot of trouble."
Robert's innocent eyes looked sincere as he smiled and replied, "Ms. Harris, it's an honor to learn from Dr. Garcia. Her strictness teaches me valuable experience and knowledge."
Robert's admiring tone and expression made Elora's face turn red with anger, her fists clenching involuntarily.
Three days later.
A major medical drama production contacted the hospital, seeking real doctors and interns for professional guidance.
Elora wouldn't miss this opportunity and used her connections to secure a preliminary spot.
Appearing in such a production was a once-in-a-lifetime chance.
On the day of the interview, Isabella was called in as the core expert, with Robert accompanying her as an assistant.
As they reached the door, Elora intercepted them.
"Dr. Garcia, could you sign my intern evaluation form? I have an interview with the production team soon, and didn't want to bother the hospital leadership, so I came directly to you." Elora handed the form to Isabella while admiring her freshly done nails.
Isabella looked at the form, her expression darkening. "Ms. Harris, today's production team will be live-streaming a surgery for patients. If I sign this form, you have to join us in the operating room!"
"So what? Just sign it. If it weren't for the extra camera time, do you think I'd come to you?" Elora felt entitled.
Isabella's reputation meant the production team would focus on her surgery, which Elora overheard during a meeting.
Isabella coldly threw the form aside. "Elora, your career might be important, but a patient's life is more important. Move aside!"
Her voice was low but carried undeniable authority and coldness.
The casting director of the production team happened to witness this scene. Known for being blunt in the industry, he immediately posted about Elora's behavior.
Unsurprisingly, Elora was dropped from the production due to her lack of professional ethics and compassion.
The production team preferred paying the breach of contract penalty over continuing to work with her.
Upon hearing the news, Elora broke down in her office, calling Terry in tears, blaming Abigail for ruining her career.
Soon, Terry hurried over, looking angrily at Isabella, who was explaining medical issues to interns in the hallway.
"Dr. Garcia." He struggled to contain his anger.
Terry quickly approached Isabella, speaking in a low voice. "Elora can be a bit impulsive, but she means well. This role was a hard-earned opportunity for her. Why did you have to target her and ruin her chance? Don't you think you went too far?"
Isabella looked at the man before her.
Indeed, Terry hadn't changed.
"Mr. Carter." Isabella's voice was calm and indifferent, as if addressing a mere annoyance. "In my eyes, a patient's life is paramount. Besides, I didn't know anyone was outside that day."
"Don't you think your explanation is too weak?" Terry raised his hand, pointing at Isabella. "We've had our differences, but I never expected you'd be so petty!"
Isabella ignored Terry's accusations, continuing with her work.
"Make a copy of this report for me, and we'll discuss the patient's condition with their family tomorrow."
Then, Isabella turned to head to the operating room, not acknowledging the two standing nearby.
"I didn't say you could leave." Terry hadn't planned to intervene, but hearing Abigail's name compelled him to come.
But she treated him like he was invisible!
This thought ignited Terry's anger.
Isabella didn't want to argue further, but Terry followed her.
"Mr. Carter, this matter has nothing to do with me. Do you think prioritizing patient safety is wrong? Should I apologize for that?"
