Chapter 7 Meeting an Acquaintance in the Confinement Room
Yvette's POV
Hearing the words "trespassing in the forbidden zone," my mind went completely blank, and my body trembled uncontrollably from fear.
You have to understand, on the way to St. Daye Academy, Principal Wetherell had specifically explained to me about the forbidden zone, and I had also read about it in the school rules handbook.
If any student dared to break into the academy's forbidden zone, they would be expelled, because legend has it that an ancient evil spirit is buried there, and the evil spirit would descend during the freezing cold!
Besides that, there were too many mysteries and strange things hidden there. Even senior students were absolutely forbidden from going there!
Thinking about all this, my heart sank halfway. Was I going to be expelled so soon? Had my fate of causing trouble still not changed?
Wait! How did I end up in the school's forbidden zone? Wasn't I supposed to be sleeping in my dorm?
Was that dream just now real or fake? And who was that lion man?
Question after question flooded my mind, urgently waiting for answers.
The next moment, Hardwin pointed his wand, and golden chains bound me.
I tried to break free with all my strength, but found I couldn't move an inch: "Professor Hardwin! You've misunderstood. I didn't trespass in the forbidden zone on purpose. I'm innocent!"
"Innocent?" Hardwin sneered: "Even now, you still won't tell the truth? Looks like I need to teach you another lesson!"
The wand pointed at me again, and the golden chains instantly tightened, sending pain throughout my entire body.
"Ah!" I couldn't help but cry out.
Just then, a breeze swept by, and Wetherell's figure appeared in front of me.
Seeing him, I felt like I'd grabbed my last lifeline and shouted loudly: "Principal, save me! I'm really innocent!"
Wetherell turned to look at Hardwin: "Release your magic first and let her finish speaking."
Hardwin frowned: "What more is there to say? She clearly trespassed in the forbidden zone!"
Wetherell narrowed his eyes slightly: "Are you not even listening to me now?"
In the end, Wetherell withdrew his magic, and I temporarily saved my life, though my head still hurt like it was about to explode.
Wetherell asked: "Tell me, why did you come to the forbidden zone in the middle of the night?"
"I don't know!" I shook my head repeatedly: "I don't know why I appeared here either. All I know is that I was sleeping in my dorm, and when I woke up, I was here! Principal, please believe me. I'm really not lying to you. Everything I'm saying is true!"
"Shut up!" Hardwin pointed at me: "Principal, there's nothing to discuss with this kind of person. Just expel her!"
Wetherell frowned slightly but didn't respond.
Hardwin got anxious: "Principal! Are you going to break the academy's rules for her sake?"
At the mention of rules, Wetherell hesitated too. After thinking for a long time, he finally let out a heavy sigh: "Take her to the detention room first. This matter needs to be discussed in a meeting."
"But..."
"No buts. I make the decisions!" Wetherell left with a wave of his sleeve.
Hardwin came up to me and grabbed me like picking up a little chick.
Finally, I was thrown into a small dark room—this was St. Daye Academy's detention room.
Inside was only a simple iron bed, not even a table, and no windows. The room was pitch black. Staying here would instantly engulf you in loneliness and fear.
But I wasn't afraid, because from childhood, I had long been used to loneliness. Being locked in detention rooms was a regular occurrence for me.
Compared to loneliness and fear, what I feared more was being expelled from the academy.
Since coming to St. Daye Academy, I had made the first friend of my life, but before I could fully fall in love with this place, I had to leave. I wasn't willing to accept this!
And if I left here, where would I go? In this vast world, was there a place for me?
Thinking about all this, I fell into confusion again, curling up in a corner with my arms around my knees.
"Boom!"
Suddenly, a thunderous sound came from nearby, interrupting my thoughts.
The sound came from next door. I pressed my ear against the wall, wanting to hear more clearly.
The next second, another boom came, nearly shattering the wall!
"Who has such strength?"
"Let me out! I'm innocent. I didn't want to break the academy rules either, but I can't control it! Give me one more chance, please. I'll find a way to suppress the transformation as soon as possible. I won't lose control again!"
Hearing the shouting from next door, I frowned: "Why does this voice sound familiar? Wait! Isn't this the man with fire on his head and a giant tail?"
Since coming to the academy, I could count on one hand the people I'd talked to. There was no way I was wrong!
I asked tentatively: "Are you... are you the man who was on fire that day?"
"You're the one on fire! That was transformation!" The man's tone was somewhat displeased.
I quickly apologized: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. Don't be angry!"
"Who are you? You've seen me?" the man asked.
"Yes, that day I was with Professor Hardwin. You were trapped by his golden cage, but the punishment he gave you was just doing laundry. Why would he lock you in the detention room?"
"Don't even mention it." The man sighed: "Tonight, while I was looking up better ways to control transformation in the magic library, the power inside me became uncontrollable again, and I burned down half the library! Now look what happened. I don't know how long I'll be locked up, and I might even get expelled! By the way, how did you end up here?"
"I'm even more wronged..."
We talked about many things. During our conversation, I learned the man's name was Daniel, a second-year student, which made him my senior.
He could transform into a flame lizard and inherit its power, but he hadn't mastered controlling the power yet, so he kept causing trouble.
Additionally, he told me about the evil spirit legend of the forbidden zone, which was related to a catastrophic disaster at the magic academy a hundred years ago!
Thinking about all this, I could understand why trespassing in the forbidden zone meant expulsion.
"I'm done for!" I let out a long sigh, the light gone from my eyes: "Doesn't this mean I'm completely finished?"
Daniel comforted me: "Not necessarily. Didn't the principal say he'd decide in a meeting? Just wait. There might be good news."
"Thank you."
About an hour later, Milia came to the detention room, with only bars separating us.
Seeing her was like seeing family. I ran over: "How did you get here!"
"Don't be afraid." Milia held my hand: "I'll find someone to get you out!"
I was shocked: "You'll find someone to save me?"
Then I kept shaking my head: "You don't need to worry about me. Don't get yourself in trouble because of me!"
She was my only friend. I didn't want to see her punished by the academy.
"It's okay." Milia smiled slightly: "I know what I'm doing. Just wait for me."
Watching her leave, I felt warm inside. So this is what it feels like to have a friend who cares about you...
That night, just after I fell asleep, I heard that strange sound again in a daze.
That's right! It was the same sound I'd heard in the dorm before! Exactly the same!
