Chapter 6 Trespassing into a Forbidden Area
Yvette's POV
This was also why I agreed to go with Principal Wetherell - staying at home would only be a burden to my parents. After all these years, they deserved a good rest.
After making the bed, Milia and I sat on the edge chatting.
Even though we'd just met, it felt like we had endless things to talk about, like old friends who hadn't seen each other in ages. Maybe this was fate.
"I wonder which house I'll be assigned to," Milia said to herself.
I didn't quite understand: "Assigned to houses? How exactly does that work?"
Milia explained: "I already asked around. At St. Daye Academy, they assign houses based on four elements - wind, fire, water, and earth."
"Even though my special ability is controlling wind, there are many wind houses. I don't know where I'll end up."
She smiled at me: "Actually, I hope we get assigned to the same house so we can learn magic together."
"That's probably not going to happen," I said with a bitter smile, shaking my head.
"What do you mean?" Milia frowned. "Don't you want to learn magic with me?"
I sighed: "I do, but honestly, even now I still don't know what element I belong to. All these years, I haven't sensed any special abilities in myself."
I could feel that Milia meant me no harm, so it was fine to tell her the truth.
"It's okay," Milia patted my shoulder gently. "You'll find out eventually, and the academy has many top magic professors who will help you."
I nodded slightly: "I hope so."
Then Milia took my hand and led me outside to the field: "Look, when I first got here, I noticed some students learning to transform!"
"Transform?"
"Yeah! Besides the abilities of the four elements - wind, fire, water, and earth - there's also transformation. After transforming, you can have the speed and strength of wild beasts. So cool!"
Milia was super excited, but I really couldn't smile.
On the lawn ahead, some students had transformed into huge rhinos - just looking at those sharp horns felt overwhelming.
Others had become masters of the sky - eagles! Though they weren't very skilled yet, not even having fully mastered flying techniques, stumbling around clumsily.
I felt troubled inside because I didn't want to transform, especially not into these fierce and ugly beasts!
"Maybe your ability is transforming into beasts!" Milia said with a laugh. "If that's true, you better remember to take me out for a ride - don't be stingy!"
"No, no, no!" I shook my head repeatedly. "I don't want to transform into beasts - they're too ugly!"
As soon as I said that, several people on the lawn immediately turned their heads, and my heart jumped into my throat.
"Run!" Milia grabbed my hand and we took off.
The people behind us chased relentlessly. If they caught us, we'd definitely get taught a harsh lesson!
Luckily, at the last second, we made it into the academic building where magic was forbidden, and I escaped disaster.
Milia gasped for breath: "Be careful! These people have bad tempers - you can't just say whatever you want!"
I nodded. Even if someone asked me to speak up in the future, I wouldn't.
That night, I lay in bed tossing and turning, unable to sleep, my mind full of scenes from years ago living with my parents.
Warm and harmonious - though there were quite a few incidents along the way, they didn't stop us from enjoying our happiness.
Then there was my mysterious mother. I wondered when we'd meet? If we did meet, what would I say? How would I face this mother I'd never met?
Before I knew it, I drifted off to sleep, but had a nightmare unlike any I'd had before!
The next moment, I jolted awake to strange sounds in my ears - they sounded like the low growls of beasts!
"Oh no! Could it be those people I angered during the day coming to settle the score?" I instinctively wanted to wake Milia beside me, but found she wasn't in her bed at all!
I wanted to leave the dorm - after all, staying here made me a sitting duck. If these beasts burst in, they'd tear me apart!
But as soon as I opened the door, I fell straight into the ocean. The biting sea wind hurt my face, the freezing water nearly made me pass out, and cold seeped from my very bones.
"Ahhh!!!"
Just when I was about to give up, the scene around me changed again!
It was a frozen wasteland, white snow stretching endlessly as far as the eye could see!
"Am I dreaming?" I slapped my head, trying to make myself leave this dream.
But the scenery around me didn't change, and my head throbbed with pain from the slapping.
This wasn't a dream!
A bold and terrifying thought rose in my mind.
Why was I here? Where was this place?
Question after question surfaced in my mind, desperately needing answers.
Suddenly, wolf howls came from the distance. Soon, over a hundred strong wolves surrounded me, their gray manes and green-glowing eyes terrifying, looking at me like prey already in their mouths!
I swallowed hard and stumbled to my feet, wanting to run, but the wolves had already blocked all sides. There was no escape!
I could already predict my fate - being torn apart and eaten by the wolf pack, dying without an intact body!
"Is this my ending and destiny?" I muttered to myself, somewhat resigned to my fate.
"Aooo!"
Suddenly! Over a hundred wolves charged at once, the ground trembling as if a small earthquake had struck.
At this critical moment, a lion with a golden mane came rushing from the distance. Wherever it passed, cries of pain filled the air!
Even though there were over a hundred wolves, the battle was completely one-sided. With each swipe of the lion's paw, several wolves fell.
Combined with its earth-shaking roar, all the wolves instantly lost their nerve and scattered in all directions!
The next second, the golden lion transformed into human form - a man wearing golden robes, tall and imposing, with deep amber eyes and a natural air of royalty.
Just standing there, he made everything else lose its color.
I was completely stunned: What a commanding man! A born king!
The man helped me up from the ground. I quickly nodded and apologized: "Thank you for saving me!"
He didn't speak, just stared at me with deep eyes, thinking about something unknown.
"Hello, can you tell me where this is? Why am I here?" I asked.
The man still didn't reply. His form transformed back into a lion, and soon he disappeared from sight.
"Wait! You haven't told me yet!" I jogged after him, because he was the only one who might help me figure out the truth!
Watching the distance grow, I was almost in tears.
Suddenly, I opened my eyes wide and was back at school: "I... did I wake up from the dream? No! This isn't the dorm!"
I realized belatedly, turning to look around, and soon met Hardwin's cold gaze: "Professor Hardwin!"
Have you ever experienced the feeling of finishing a nightmare and seeing someone you know? It couldn't be better.
Suddenly, a blast of air hit me, knocking me to the ground, my whole body aching.
Hardwin's eyes were ice cold: "Trespassing in a forbidden area! Do you know your crime!"
