Chapter 5

Aaron's eyes darkened, "You knew she was at home?"

"Yes." My tone was flat, my face showing no emotion.

"You're not angry?" Aaron was surprised.

If this were before, I would definitely have gone crazy like a shrew.

I would have forced him to make a choice—either divorce or send Anna away.

Now, it didn't matter anymore.

"I'm not angry. I told you, it's up to you."

I looked up and met Aaron's gaze, "Aaron, have you ever regretted it? If you had agreed to divorce me two years ago, your wife today could be Anna. I can tell you really like her, and I think you two are perfect for each other."

Aaron suddenly smiled and naturally pulled me into his arms, "Sophia, I only have one wife, and that's you."

"I really shouldn't have lost my temper with you like that because of Anna. So I won't hold it against you for exposing what happened between me and her."

"We've been married for two years now. You should know that all those friends of mine have several mistresses on the side."

"You need to learn from their wives—learn to be understanding, learn to accept me, learn to accept other women."

After hearing Aaron's words, I stood there frozen.

How could he talk about cheating in marriage as if it were so natural?

When men cheat and women get angry—does that mean they don't understand men?

Does that mean they're not being reasonable?

Aaron wanted me to turn a blind eye.

But I couldn't stand this kind of filth.

I took a deep breath and pushed him away with all my strength, "You're right. All the rich men in Emerald City are like this, and you're no exception."

Aaron paused, "So you can accept it?"

"Of course."

He wouldn't be my husband much longer anyway, so I could accept anything.

"Go keep Ms. Sarah company. I'm tired and want to rest."

I pushed him out of the bedroom, and out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of a figure at the corner.

Though it was just a flash, I knew it was Anna.

I didn't think much of it, closed the bedroom door, and started packing my luggage.

When I tried to get a divorce last time, I had already thrown away everything I needed to throw away.

Now, I just needed to take my passport with me.

That night, Aaron didn't come back to the room.

I couldn't sleep and wanted to get some fresh air in the yard.

But I saw Aaron sleeping on the sofa with Anna sitting beside him.

On the coffee table were many bottles of alcohol.

I froze for a moment, thinking they would have sex.

I didn't expect them to just be drinking.

Anna saw me and smirked, "Mrs. Hill, why aren't you sleeping so late? Can't sleep alone?"

I didn't bother with her and wanted to leave, but she grabbed my arm, "I heard everything Aaron said to you. I know he doesn't want to divorce you, but I'll never give up either. One day, I'll take him away from you, and I'll make him willingly marry me."
