Chapter 2 Doing Good in the Human World

As an outcast, my life may seem very sad to some people. In fact, that's not the case at all; I actually enjoy this isolation. The world seems more peaceful without the sound of war between kingdoms. And of course, I can practice more freely. At least if I'm here alone, no one will approach me because of my social status.

I see the vast forest stretching out before me. Every day I spend my time here, accompanied by the little fairy who is always there for me. Almost every activity, I am always accompanied by Vrael, even if sometimes she only watches over me.

"Where are you going now?" asked Vrael.

I looked ahead with determination. Only in this forest did I not fear being recognized. Wizards and fairies rarely entered the forest behind here. Most of them served in the black valley to increase their magical powers. Almost no one passed by except for small animals such as wild rabbits.

Vrael looked at me confused, seemingly not understanding what I meant. I just stared at the forest with a serious smile.

"Don't follow me. I'm going to the human world. I have something to settle there."

And as usual, Vrael snorted after hearing my words. "Don't go there too often! How many times have I reminded you? That's not your world!"

Vrael glared at me angrily. This wasn't the first time he had done so. So, I just ignored him.

"You don't understand. Even though I'm not in the palace yet, I already understand many of the problems that most of them face. How do I know? From humans, of course. You wouldn't know," I said to Vrael. The human world taught me a lot about humanity, and Vrael definitely didn't know that.

Vrael looked at me cynically. "You should take a vacation when you have time, instead of burdening yourself." See! He never agreed with me being in the human world. I don't know what's on Vrael's mind. But when I asked him one day about his reason for forbidding me, all he said was, "It's too dangerous for you." Annoying, isn't it? I can take care of myself. Besides, no one in the human world has the power of dragons and demons. Vrael should know that and not worry about me.

"Just say you're jealous that you can't come. Never mind! You might as well go to sleep."

I pushed my way into the forest. It wasn't scary; I had been used to being here since I was a child. It was just that the little fairy's wings were so fast that she could keep up with my long strides.

"Why are you still following me? Can't you come?" I asked sarcastically without looking at Vrael.

Vrael sighed, seemingly resigned to the fact that he wouldn't be able to control me this time. Of course he wouldn't win when it came to my desires. Now Vrael was even sitting on my head. How rude! Messing up my hair!

"Okay, I admit I'm jealous of you. You never tell me about all the fun you have there."

Oh, so that's the problem. But I could clearly see the flat tone in his voice. All this time, I had never told him anything about the humans I had met. Just come, help, and forget them. Not forget them completely, but just forget the good deeds I had done so as not to become arrogant.

"Why didn't you say anything from the start?"

Vrael flew over, sat on my shoulder, and leaned back. What a lazy fairy! She didn't even want to fly. She just stayed on my shoulder. Did she think I was her servant?

"I'm bored here too. You think you're the only one who's bored? I don't even see anything here except you and this forest."

What else can we do? There's nothing else around here. Even if we wanted to leave, Vrael couldn't. Or if we went somewhere far away, the soldiers would find us and force me back to the palace. Even though I'm isolated, there are some people watching over me. I don't know where they are, but I always feel like I'm being watched. Except in this forest. That's why I spend most of my time here. I feel more free.

"Who says I'm bored? I'm happy here. It's just that some people need my help. I'm just following my heart, that's all," I said in my defense. How could I just stand by knowing that there are so many people who don't have a place to live?

"You're hundreds of years old, so why go on adventures? Didn't you do all that when you were young?"

Vrael looked sad. I even felt water dripping on my shoulder. Damn! Was he crying?

"You don't know anything, so shut up!" Vrael exclaimed. He looked very angry. Did I offend him this time?

I remained silent, afraid of offending him again. But Vrael spoke again. "I used to be a fairy without wings. Of course I was trapped just like you. I was even exiled with no one around me."

Wow! This is the first time in my life that I've heard Vrael talk about this part of his past. Usually, he only talks about the knowledge he acquired when he was young. I admit, Vrael is quite smart for a fairy. His brain is reliable in many matters. In fact, he often helps me solve problems in many ways.

If you want to know, it was Vrael who healed my face. She persistently tried to mix herbs so that my face would return to normal. Although she didn't succeed immediately, Vrael finally managed to make me a potion. This is my hero!

"Why didn't you ever tell me this? Do you not consider me anymore?" I asked, looking at Vrael. She turned her red face away.

"We're even! You didn't tell me about your meeting with those humans either."

Vrael flew in front of me. He folded his arms in annoyance. Vrael was very cute, especially with his puffy cheeks. I really wanted to pinch his cheeks. But I couldn't do it when he was this small.

"Fine! Then don't follow me!" I immediately opened a portal when my feet reached the cave. This cave was hidden, and I was the one who found it. Even Vrael didn't know there was a cave here at first.

I faintly heard Vrael cursing as I entered the cave without considering her feelings. As usual, Vrael couldn't enter this cave because of the energy inside it. Fairy energy didn't seem to be compatible with the dragon energy I emitted. That's why I often teased him. I should have had a protector like a phoenix, which also had fire energy. Not a fairy, that didn't make any sense.

Wushhh!!

The speed of this portal was unmatched. In a flash, I was in the human world. Of course, my clothes had changed. Automatically, my clothes changed into clothes typical of humans there. At least here, I wouldn't attract attention because of my different clothes. Aristocratic class, of course. Wearing a hood, I covered my face completely. It wasn't completely covered, at least I could still breathe. Besides, if I were too covered up, it would be highly suspicious.

My face doesn't look like that of an ordinary human. At least I've never met a human with skin as pale as mine. And if anyone were to find out, my existence would be threatened.

Here I am now, at the traditional market. Unlike the markets in my country, the markets here tend to be crowded. In my country, most of the stalls sell weapons, but here they mostly sell food. And I really like the food here. It's a shame that Vrael can't enjoy this food with me. That's okay, I'll make the same recipe and make it for Vrael.

Not only that, I often find people my age who have become homeless. They have no place to live. From them, I learned to accept my fate. At least I still have a place to live, unlike them who don't even have a decent place to sleep. Many of them even sleep in front of shops.

"Hey! What are you doing here?"

I turned my head and looked towards the source of the voice. There I saw a small child being chased away by someone who looked older than him. I think he fell asleep carelessly and was chased away by other people. Usually, if they are considered a nuisance, most people are chased away without mercy.

I approached after the people who had chased him away were gone. At least I wouldn't be the center of attention if I saved the child while he was still being scolded by others. I knew better than to seek attention.

"What's wrong?" I asked the little boy who had already walked away from there. I tried to catch up with his long strides by running a little.

He remained silent, staring straight ahead. Strange, I thought! How could he be so calm after being kicked out? He probably wouldn't have a place to stay for the next few days.

"Here, this is for you!"

I handed him the traditional cake I had bought before I saw him being kicked out.

"For me?" Only then did his eyes light up. He looked happy with the cake I gave him and accepted it. I guessed he hadn't eaten for days. I had often encountered this kind of thing, so I was no longer surprised.

"Thank you!"

One of the things I like about helping people is their sincere gratitude after I help them. Especially seeing them smile at my gift, even though it wasn't much.

I crouched down to be at his level. "Do you have a place to stay?"

It’s nothing, I just wanted to make sure. I had a solution to help him this time. Coincidentally, I often visit the human world and have come to know their various traits. And in my opinion, the attitude of our people is not much different. I feel that way after visiting here often.

The boy shook his head. I knew it! Luckily, I have an acquaintance here.

"Come with me!"

Usually, the prince is always near the market at this time of day. Even though they are humans, their system of government is almost the same as that of the dragon race. No wonder there are so many nobles here who look down on the lower classes. It turns out that everyone is the same, even though they live in different worlds.

"Hey! I've been looking for you."

At least my search wasn't in vain. It turned out that this narcissistic prince was in the forest nearby, riding his horse. My cave was also there. However, no one would know about it. I could guarantee that.

"Why were you looking for me? Did you miss me? I knew it, the prince's charm is undeniable."

The prince dismounted and approached me. This is what's annoying about him. I don't know where he got his narcissistic personality from. What is certain is that he was already like this when I first met him.

"Here, give him a decent place to stay. I know you can be relied upon."

I handed the child over to the prince. Perhaps because he recognized his face, the child complied without asking many questions. At least I didn't have to explain everything to him.

"It's been a long time since I last saw you. Are you okay?"

I shook my head. "No! I'm just busy."

"Don't you want to ask me anything?"

I looked at him blankly. Prince Ereen seemed fine, so why should I ask him anything?

"What's the matter?"

Ereen's expression immediately turned sour. But I didn't understand what he meant. I'm not a fortune teller who can read other people's minds.

"Don't you miss my handsome face?"

Damn! This prince is so confident. "Never mind, it's not important! I'm leaving! Take good care of this child."

I used my dragon powers to disappear in a flash. Luckily, the prince was used to seeing me run away at lightning speed, even though he sometimes still asked questions. Luckily, the child had already been taken away so that no one here saw me leave. I couldn't let any other humans see me besides this cheeky prince!

Even though the human world seemed crowded, I still felt alone. Was it because I didn't know any of them? So I didn't feel like I was in the middle of a crowd?

One thing I hated about everything in my life was being alone. I also wanted to have many friends, but my social status required me to remain alone. It was okay, at least I had Aelar to bother when I was bored. Besides, many friendships are terrifying. I’m afraid they’ll take advantage of me.

Feeling that no one needs my help anymore, I return to the portal connecting me to my people. Vrael must be waiting for me with a rage. Haha! I love seeing his angry face.
