Chapter 9 Traumatized

Fiamara’s POV

What should I do? I thought looking as Scab as he quickened his steps out.

I had a feeling that if he got out of the room, it might be difficult to get to him, seeing that all the Imp looked identical. I saw two of them on our way here.

My eyes landed on a brown trash can as I searched the room. I got up quickly, picked it quickly and turned it over Scab, caging him inside. Then I rushed to Veronica’s desk, carried heavy textbooks from them and dropped it in the basket.

“What is this?” Scab asked, trying to push it off, but the books had more weight than his leaned hands.

“Fiamara, how could you treat an Imp like that?” She got up walking towards Scab who was looking at her with large puppy eyes.

I rushed to my feet and stepped in front of her. “Please, Veronica. I don’t want trouble, and that is why I want the truth about my identity to be kept a secret for now.” I pressed my palms together. “At least before the Orientation.”

Veronica placed her hands on her hips as she looked from me to Scab. “So you are saying I should keep him locked up for a week?”

“If possible, yes.”

“No, I have so much to do. You can’t do this to your loyal messager, can you, Mrs Limestone,” Scab cried out, dropping to his knees.

“Of course, I can’t do that. I need you for a lot of things, Scab.”

“Please, Veronica. Do this for me and I promise to be a good girl. I will be of good conduct at least until Orientation. I will not try to escape from the Academy either.”

Veronica sighed, then she turned and walked back to her shelf. She picked up a green leaf, then closed it up in her hand. “Okay, but I can’t leave Scab locked up.”

My shoulders fell as she approached Scab. She bent right next to him and he smiled.

I could see mischief in its eyes. I knew it was over. Once he came out every one would know who I was and I wouldn’t be able to lay low as I wanted to. This is bad.

“Release me, Mrs Limestone.”

“Of course, I will,” Veronica grinned. Then she opened her hand in front of her and blew on the leaf. Scab’s eyes widened instantly and he threw to cover his face but it was too late.

White substance lifted from the leaf, carried by the breeze from Veronica’s lips, passed through the holes in the trash basket and surrounded him. He coughed, swinging his hand in front of him and then he dropped to the ground, losing consciousness.

My jaw dropped. “You killed him?” I asked, my eyes wide as I rushed forward and took off the book and then the trash basket. Scab laid there, still. “Why did you have to? I didn’t ask you to—”

“He’s just sleeping. Don’t worry, in a few minutes he will regain consciousness and he won't recall anything that happened in the past few hours.” Veronica dropped the leaf in the trash can.

I stood there, looking at her in surprise with the huge text books in my hand. “What? Why didn’t you just do that earlier?”

She dropped on her seat. “If I had, would you have promised to be in good conduct?” She was trying so hard to hide her smile and I was raging within me. She played me.

“You—”

She nodded. “I knew you wanted to leave the Academy, and that you were desperate to hide who you are. So I waited till the right moment and you gave me your word that you would stay till Orientation. After that, I will look for another way to keep you here.”

The books banged against the desk as I dropped it with a thud. “You can’t control me. I can break my promise whenever I want.”

She laughed softly. “Oh, Fiamara, my child. This Academy is no ordinary place. I’m sorry to say that you are bound by your word. The walls have ears and they are magical. Get it?”

I stared her dead in the eyes, zeroing in on her.

Was she just kidding? How was that possible? Anything is possible here, but maybe she was just trying to scare me from trying. Nothing will stop me though.

“We’ll see,” I replied, faking a smile so I wouldn’t look defeated. “I want to leave.”

Veronica nodded. “Scab, lead her back to the hostel hall.”

“Yes, Mrs Limestone,” Scab replied and I flinched in shock.

He was right behind me, standing fine like nothing just happened and he was looking at me the same way he did earlier when I opened my room door for him. There was no sigh of awe like he had when he found out who I truly was.

That was a good thing. He didn’t recall who I was.

“Shall we?” Scab asked, walking out, leisurely.

I nodded at Veronica. Our eyes locked for a second, hers heavy with victory. I sighed, daring her to stop me from leaving with my gaze and I walked out with Scab.

We passed through the magical staircase that appeared behind the wall and then I got to the hostel. He looked up to me. “This is it.” Then he turned and walked away.

I rubbed my palms together, looking back and forth in the halls. I knew the direction to my room, but I didn’t feel like going there now. It was almost evening and I honestly wanted to get some air. Today there were only a handful.

A door. Far at the end of the hostel.

Was it open? Where would it lead to?

Before I guessed an answer, I was already walking towards it. A couple of students hanging around raised their heads, sparing me a gaze, but it was barely a second. I loved the fact that they paid no attention to me.

It was also a pointer that I was not walking towards danger. I heaved a deep breath, standing in front of it. Black steel door, with tiny holes that had sunlight peeking in from outside.

A latch, with no padlock on it. It was warm. I shifted it out of the hold in the wall and then pulled the door open. A soft creak reverberated into the quiet hall as I was opened into a fair garden outside.

I stepped out, slowly closing the door behind me. It was a small rose garden. I smiled, breathing in the sweet aroma— a little too enchanting, it felt magical.

This felt like my most beautiful moment in this world.

A waterfall laid up ahead. I took the rocky path that led to it, a warm, toothless smile registered on my face.

I looked back after a long wall and my smile faded. The garden wasn’t behind me, neither was the door I came out from. Mountains laid behind me, and in front of me was the waterfall.

“Shit. I hope I am not lost—” I went mute when my eyes caught something in the distance under the water fall. It was a naked boy, standing up right, with his huge member visible in between his strong legs.

Oh My God.

I turned away instantly, my legs shaky as I tried to walk away. The image is still in my head. Heat aroused inside me as I fought the fuzzy feeling in my stomach.

I had never seen a naked boy before. I had never even been in a relationship. Yet the first day of coming to Crimson Spire Academy, I had gotten an eye sore.

Two half naked extremely hot boys, Raziel and Theron. Then came Aldric and Marek, completely dressed but still piping hot, I wondered how they would look without clothes on.

Get a grip, Ama, what are you thinking?

I shook my head, still walking away.

“Fiamara Calder.”

My eyes closed and I halted.

I thought I should run, but when I heard my name called in a breezy whisper. I had never felt like that before by the call of my name. It made a nerve inside my cringe in submission and my heart raced without control.

A sudden force pulled me and I gasped lightly, turning back slowly, opening my eyes. What I saw next made my soul jump out of my body.

A werewolf. A big black wolf, growling at me.

In a second, I envisioned myself in the dark alley before the Wolf that had attacked me, almost ending me.

I dropped instantly. The last thing I heard was my name and then landing on flesh, losing consciousness.
