Chapter 8 Little Snitch

Fiamara’s POV

“Come in, Fiamara,” Veronica said in a sing-song voice, as she turned and walked back behind the curtain, Scab following her.

Marek sighed and walked past me, his sharp green eyes locked in mine. Aldric followed him without sparing me a glance. He seemed quite cold, and he wasn’t even the president, he looked more like an assistant.

I sighed and walked ahead to Veronica’s office behind the curtain. Burgundy soft chairs, classic bar on the wall and a glass table in the middle. Not what I expected for an elderly supernatural high school principal.

She dropped in her chair and I did the same with the chair in front of her, across the table. “I hope it wasn’t a hassle to find your room.”

Oh.  You wish?

I rolled my eyes thinking about Theron and Raziel. I had entered their rooms by mistake, under very embarrassing circumstances. Their half naked bodies flashed through my mind and I felt my face heat up.

My head dropped as I licked my lips, shrugging at Veronica. “It was okay.”

There was no way I was telling her that I went to the boys room before I got to my room. And they were both half naked and the one that was a vampire— Raziel, who seemed quite famous was acting all cocky with me, before the cool headed one came to my rescue.

Then Lana and Arya flashed through my mind. Why does it feel like life in this Academy would be unbearable with them in it?

I leaned in on the table. “Can I change my room? I would love to have a private room.”

She narrowed her eyes on me. “Your own room?” She picked her pen and drummed it against the table. “Why?”

I shook my head. “I plan to avoid the typical roommate drama. I am not used to sharing my room.”

She sighed, laid back, looking at me like she knew I wasn’t telling the truth.

“Okay, be of good conduct for a period of six months or more, get good grades and get the position as House Manager. Then you can get your own room. Right now Cassie Jones is the House Manager, so I guess you have competition.”

“Cassie Jones?” I muttered the name, thinking of where I had heard it before. Then it clicked, Raziel’s girlfriend and Lana’s bestfriend. Wow. I hadn’t seen her but I have quite an odd feeling about her.

Deep down I knew it was not because I found myself attracted to Raziel. No. It had to be far from that. Besides, Raziel is not the only cute guy in this Academy. So far I’d seen quite a lot of them that caught my interest.

Talking of interest. I really want to leave this freak Academy filled with all types of beasts and monsters soon and I don’t have six months to be of good conduct for any position.

“I will manage my room.”

“Why are you scared?” She asked. “You know I see great potential in you. You just have to feel like one of us and I’m sure you will be a top student real soon.”

“Hm. Can I speak with my parents?” I asked, changing the topic.

“I’m sorry, but you can’t.”

Her reply made me grit my teeth. “Why?”

“You need to get used to staying in this Academy. You need to be here for your destiny’s sake, Fiamara.”

I heaved deep breaths trying to push down the rage building inside me.

Why did this sound like what happened a while ago? What she was just doing with Marek, trying to force a path he didn’t want down his throat. She was doing the same thing with me and that was annoying.

“Why did you call me here?” I asked, looking down, tapping my feet.

She sighed. “The Orientation is coming in a few weeks. And you will be officially welcomed as the Last Royal Dragon alive.”

I snapped her gaze. “No, you don’t have to do that.”

My eyes wide opened as I thought of Theron’s warnings and how Lana reacted when she was told about The Last Dragon everyone was waiting for. I honestly didn’t want to see myself in that situation.

“No, you can’t do that,” I pleaded, placing both my hands together. “Please, let this remain between you and I. I honestly don’t want any form of drama, Veronica.”

“I am sorry, but even if I keep quiet now, it is paramount that they know about it. They are your people, your responsibility. You would grow to become their leader someday and you would save them from the great evil, Maximo.”

I shook my head, tired of her sermon. “Veronica. Fine, you could tell them, but on my own terms. At least,  let me get used to them a little bit.”

That was a lie, honestly— I just wanted to buy more time, so that by the time that she plans to disclose my identity to them I would have long been out of here.

“Okay then, I could assure you that I will not be telling them yet, but—” Her eyes darted across the room. I followed her, only to see Scab sneaking out.

“Where is he going?” I asked Veronica.

Scab halted and grinned. “Greetings, your majesty.” he bowed slightly and then continued, “I promise I won’t be telling anyone that you are the Long Awaited Last Royal Dragon. The one who would save us from impending danger.”

I faced Veronica while he was still talking. She sighed. “Scab, are you sure?” She asked him.

“Absolutely sure, Principal.”

I nodded and faced Veronica. She didn’t seem quite convinced. Scab turned to walk out of the door.

“I would just go ahead and carry out my other tasks for the day,” he said, walking out.

Veronica narrowed her eyes at him, then she clicked her tongue and faced me. “If that little snitch gets out of this office, the entire school would hear of it.”
