Chapter 6 Kiss Quickly, Jenny Can't Wait

The couch was empty. Edward was nowhere in sight.

So, had he carried her to the bed?

Did that mean he had actually been willing to share a bed with her?

Her mind filled with questions, Jenna stepped outside. When she reached the downstairs, she found that only Samantha was there. She explained that Edward had left early for urgent business at the office.

A faint, bitter curve formed on Jenna’s lips. Urgent business? It sounded more like he had rushed off to be with Jennifer.

The moment she returned, Edward couldn't be bothered with anything else, not even Samantha's health.

And yet Samantha had made Jenna promise not to tell him anything.

Afraid Samantha might notice something off in her expression, Jenna finished breakfast quickly and excused herself.

The moment she stepped outside, her phone rang. It was Becky. It was her birthday, and she'd invited Jenna out for dinner that evening.

At seven o'clock, Jenna arrived at the Opal Moon Hotel.

Apart from Becky, several old friends from her modeling days had already gathered.

The instant Jenna stepped into the room, those familiar faces rushed toward her.

"Jenna! It's been forever! I heard you left modeling to get married? What a pity, you had the most potential out of all of us back then!"

"Seriously! If you'd stayed, you'd definitely be an international supermodel by now!"

Their chatter buzzed around her.Jenna responded with a polite smile, but deep inside, she felt an emptiness. .

'Yes. If I hadn't married Edward, what would I be now?'

Perhaps she would still be shining brightly on the runway,. Perhaps she would be living the dream.

Instead, she was stuck in a marriage without love, living a life that felt almost laughable.

"Jenna, are you okay? Your face look pale." Becky's voice was full of concern.

"I'm fine. Just tired." Jenna shook her head. "Come on, let's cut the cake."

The dinner itself was lively enough.

Her friends gossiped about the industry, complained about difficult clients, laughed loudly.

Jenna laughed along, but inside, a heavy weight pressed down on her chest.

She couldn't help wondering what Edward might be doing at that very moment.

Was he with Jennifer? Sitting among friends, raising his glass in celebration, smiling as he accepted their blessings?

She told herself a thousand times to let it go. But the suffocating ache refused to leave.

Worried that her mood might ruin Becky’s birthday celebration, Jenna excused herself to the restroom, hoping some fresh air would help.

She splashed cold water on her face, staring at her reflection for a long moment. But the hollow feeling wouldn't go away.

Realizing she had been gone for too long, she decided to return.

Still distracted, she pushed open a door and froze.

Loud music filled the air, almost deafening. A chorus of voices rose together in excitement.

"Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her!"

Jenna hadn't been paying attention. She'd walked into the wrong room.

"Sorry." she began, stepping back to leave.

But then her gaze swept across the room, and her breath caught.

In the center of the private lounge, Edward stood with his arm around Jennifer's waist.

He was leaning down toward her.

"Come on, Edward! You lost the dare, so no backing out now!"

"Yeah! Jenny's waiting!"

"Kiss her! Kiss her!"

The chanting grew louder.

Edward let out a quiet chuckle, his expression relaxed as he leaned even closer.

Just as his lips were about to brush Jennifer's, his eyes flickered toward the door, and landed on Jenna.

He stopped abruptly.

Jennifer turned. When she saw Jenna, she hurried over and grabbed her hand.

"Jenna? What are you doing here? Don't misunderstand—we were just playing Truth or Dare. Edward lost, so this is his punishment. It's all in good fun. Please don't take it the wrong way."

Jenna pulled her hand away, her eyes fixed firmly on Edward.

"So a game means you can forget who you are? Forget boundaries?"

Jennifer stepped forward quickly. "Jenna, you really have the wrong idea. I've just always been laid-back, you know? Like one of the guys. They don't even see me as a woman. Please don't be upset."

Jenna looked Jennifer up and down slowly, then let out a cold laugh.

"Miss Garcia, you're beautiful. Your figure is flawless. And yet you keep insisting you're 'not a woman.' Tell me, is that because you've spent so many years abroad and adopted a more open-minded perspective? Or are you just using that 'carefree tomboy' act as cover so you can enjoy being admired by men?"

Jennifer's eyes instantly welled with tears. "Jenna, how can you think that about me?"

Edward's face darkened. "Jenna, enough! You're a woman too, how can you be so vicious?"

'So he knows I'm a woman.'

Then why could he empathize with every other woman, but never with her?

Of course. It was because he did not love her. When there was no love, nothing else mattered.

Jenna's heart grew cold.

Jennifer was still sniffling. "Edward, please don't fight because of me. This is all my fault. I should not have imposed my thoughts on others."

She turned to Jenna and suddenly bowed deeply.

"I'm sorry. This is all my fault. From now on, I'll stay away from Edward. Please, don't fight because of me anymore."

Edward grabbed Jennifer's wrist and yanked her upright.

"Why are you apologizing to her? You didn't do anything wrong." He turned his cold gaze on Jenna. "Are you done yet? You show up out of nowhere just to ruin Jenny's welcome party? I invited you and you refused. Now you follow me here. Admit it, you're jealous."

"Jealous?" Jenna laughed softly. "You're not worth my jealousy."

"Jenna!" Edward stepped forward sharply. "Let me make this clear, Jenny and I have done nothing wrong. Don't project your filthy thoughts onto us!"

Without warning, Jenna picked up a glass of red wine from the coffee table and threw it straight at them both.

Edward instinctively shielded Jennifer, but wine splashed over both of them, soaking their hair and clothes.

"Jenna—"

Before Edward could finish, Jenna raised her hand and struck him hard across the face.

The room fell silent.

Everyone stared in shock, unable to react.

This was the same woman who had always been quiet and obedient. Had she truly lost control?

"Edward, do you know something?" Jenna's voice was suddenly, eerily calm. "For five years, I thought you were asexual. I even wondered if maybe I wasn't good enough. Maybe that's why you wouldn't touch me."

A wave of shocked murmurs spread through the room.

Most of them were Edward's friends. Some of them openly disliked Jenna.

But hearing this truth out loud, they couldn't help exchanging shocked glances.

Sure, Jenna wasn't in model shape anymore. But they all remembered what she'd looked like when she first married Edward—smoking hot, stunningly beautiful.

Even those who disliked her could not deny that.

'Had Edward really held out all these years?'

"Until that day, when I stood outside your study—"

Edward's face went white. He lunged forward.

"Jenna! Stop talking!"

Jenna stepped aside to avoid him, then raised her voice so everyone could hear clearly.

"I heard you moaning. And I heard you calling out Jenny's name. Over and over. Edward, tell me, what was that? Was that a game too?"
