Chapter 11
In the eyes of everyone in the underground car park, Ada was certain to lose this match. But Cheetah remained remarkably calm, as if she already had the victory in mind.
“Uncle, aren’t you worried at all that Ada is participating in such a dangerous competition?” Audrey couldn’t help but ask, her voice filled with concern.
The cheetah’s lips curled slightly as it said nonchalantly, “There’s nothing to worry about. Racing is Ada’s strong point.”
As he spoke, his tone became filled with tenderness: “Aida has always been very hardworking since she was young. Every skill we, her teachers, taught her, she mastered perfectly. She never allowed herself to be careless or fail in anything. Whenever she failed to meet her goals, she would punish herself harshly, until she was completely exhausted. Several times, she almost collapsed from exhaustion. But she did all this just to find you, my lady.”
The cheetah’s tone and gaze didn’t resemble the reverence a subordinate should have for its master. Instead, it felt like a father talking about his daughter’s hardships. Audrey was speechless for a long time, deeply moved. Although these past ten-odd years had been full of hardships, hearing someone make such sacrifices for her brought tears to her eyes. This feeling was genuine and overwhelming.
The cheetah continued, “When Aida first saw you, because you resembled the sister she was looking for, she ordered us to treat you as our master. Even if she couldn’t find the young lady, at least she would have some comfort in thinking of you. Also, when she learned that you’d been mistreated in the Cheng family, she wanted to destroy the entire family. But it was because of you that she stopped her actions.”
He paused for a moment, then said with a bitter smile, “Miss, I hope you can see Ada’s sincerity. In the future, when she asks you to accept life in the Russell family, please try to adapt. It’s not easy for her at all. We all feel sorry for her.”
Audrey nodded obediently, her voice slightly choked with emotion. “Uncle, please don’t worry. I know what to do.” After saying that, the surroundings returned to calm, and everyone’s gaze focused once again on the track.
As the race began, Aida gave it her all. With her superb driving skills, she successfully won the race. But just as she crossed the finish line, everything went dark before her eyes. The world became black and white, and all sound disappeared. Her body gradually lost its strength, and she slowly collapsed inside her bike, completely silent.
Abigail Chapman arrived at the finish line right behind her. Not seeing Ada anywhere, he felt a pang of worry—this wasn’t at all like Ada’s behavior. He immediately got out of his car, pried open Ada’s door, and found her lying unconscious inside. No matter how he called her, she wouldn’t wake up. He quickly carried her into his own car.
After getting in the car, Abigail Chapman carefully adjusted Ada’s position, making sure she was lying comfortably in her arms. Then, she drove away from the track at full speed, heading toward the nearest hospital.
The cheetah watched Abigail Chapman’s car drive away, puzzled. “That’s not right. Why is it only Abigail Chapman’s car? Where’s Ada?”
Audrey’s heart leaped again. Nervously, she asked, “Could it be that Abigail Chapman won and Ada lost?”
The cheetah shook its head firmly: “No way. Few people can match Aida’s racing skills. She definitely won’t lose.”
“Could it be that Ada won, and he, in his anger and humiliation, broke the agreement?” Audrey asked further.
“That’s impossible too,” explained the cheetah. “The underground car city operates on the same principles as the criminal world: trust is key. He has no reason to destroy his own foundation just because of Ada. Besides, with so many of his brothers present, he wouldn’t dare to break his word in public.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Abigail Chapman’s car arrived. But it didn’t stop in front of them. Instead, it drove straight out of the underground parking garage and headed toward the city hospital.
The cheetah immediately pulled Audrey into the car. “Let’s hurry up and catch up. Ada must be inside!”
“Yeah, hurry up!” The two of them quickly got into the car, right behind them.
Abigail Chapman’s Black Horse racing car was parked in front of the city hospital. When the on-duty nurse saw it, she screamed, “Oh! It’s Prince Black Horse Abigail Chapman! He’s so handsome!” The family members of the patients in the vicinity also gathered around, chatting excitedly.
“Wow, it’s really him! He’s even more handsome in person than in the photos!”
“Who is in his arms? She’s so beautiful! She looks like Ada Russell, the young lady from the Russell family!”
“They’re such a great match…”
The noisy chatter woke Ada up. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and said groggily, “It’s so noisy. Where am I?”
Abigail Chapman looked at her lovely face, her eyes filled with tenderness. “Aida, you’re awake? You’re in the hospital.”
“Abigail Chapman? What brought you to the hospital with me?” Ada looked puzzled, struggling to get up.
Abigail Chapman gently held her down and explained patiently, “After the race, you suddenly fainted. I was worried something might be wrong with you, so I brought you here.”
Aida pouted and said unhappily, “That’s exactly what I mean! It’s all your fault for drugging me! If you hadn’t done that, I’d still be at Zi Jun’s birthday party right now.”
“Poison? When did I ever administer poison to you?” Abigail Chapman looked completely puzzled and confused.
“Still say you didn’t do it?” Aida was annoyed. “If it weren’t for your subordinate drugging me, how would I have ended up here?”
Seeing this, Abigail Chapman stopped arguing and quickly compromised. “Okay, okay, it’s my fault. When we get back, whatever you want to do to those people, I’ll go along with it. Please?”
Ida gave him a displeased glance, then got up and walked away. Abigail Chapman quickly followed behind, asking thoughtfully, “Who is Zijun? Are you very familiar with him? Why do you call him by such an affectionate name?” The thought of Ida being close to another boy made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
Aida said nonchalantly, “He’s just a friend of my brother’s. Today is his birthday, and he even confessed his feelings to me.” Her tone was full of resignation. It was clear to anyone that she felt nothing for Zijun at all.
“What? Did you agree?” Abigail Chapman became instantly excited. She grabbed Ada’s arm, her voice filled with tension and anxiety. She didn’t even realize how hard she was gripping.
Ida felt a sharp pain in her arm. Frowning, she said, “Abigail Chapman, you’re hurting me.”
