Chapter 5

Aurora's POV

That night I ran as fast as my legs could take me, of all people that was in the pack I got to be mated to Lucian.

How did my life suddenly get complicated?

I couldn't sleep throughout the night.I met with Talia the following day in school. She screamed excitedly when I told her I found my mate and who he was. She pressured me to accept him but I knew deep down accepting him wasn't a risk I was planning to take.

Firstly he was a playboy, ruthless, careless and reckless. Secondly I was the pack outcast,it would just make me the laughing stock of the pack.

I left school and went back to work with a heavy heart.

“Seriously!!” Clara threw a fit as soon as I shew my face.

“You didn't do a single thing Aurora,I almost had my head beheaded!!”

“I'm sorry, something happened.” I bowed my head slightly.

“Just go back to work,I don't really have the energy to take it out on you this evening.” She murmured and held her headache.

I apologized to her one more time before walking out,as I was clearing the leftovers on the table,the door opened and the bell sounded.

I looked up to see which customers entered untilI gasped when my eyes landed on Lucian. He offered a smile which I didn't return. I looked around to the back entrance,I left the plates on the table and turned to run.

Within a twinkle of an eye, Lucian was already in my front. I clenched my fist when I had no other option.

“We need to talk.” He stated in a stern tone.

I took him outside,to a corner around the area that wasn't crowded. I already made up my mind that I would reject him after he was done talking.

“Aurora.” He  called softly and I glared at him, wondering how he knew my name.

“How did you know my name?” I frowned at him.

“I did my findings.” He answered.

“We are mates, you are mine.” He  said and I scoffed.

I guess he was finding it difficult to accept,but he shouldn't worry about it. I would end it faster than he imagined and we would both be free.

Lucian moved closer to touch me and I flinched,He  clenched his  hand that was frozen midway and put it back in his pocket. He straightened his back and stepped backwards.

I mustered confidence and turned to look at him,I clenched my fist as I found it hard to utter the words.

“I Aurora Steel reject you Lucian Vaughn as my fated mate!” I yelled leaving him in shock.

I fell to the ground immediately those words left my mouth,I groaned when I felt a pain in my chest but didn't feel the mate bond snapped.

“AURORA!!” Lucian growled when I coughed out blood.

“You.. stupid woman, you can't reject an Alpha!” Lucian cried bitterly.

He scooped me in his arms and lifted me from the ground and ran to where his car was.I whimpered as the pain intensified. He opened the door to his car and placed me inside.I kept coughing blood and I was scared that this was how I would end.

Lucian drove out like a bat,he kept on making calls and I sensed the way he panicked.

“You…will be.. fine,I promise.” He glanced at the back to check on me.

I looked away from him as I held onto my chest, before I knew it we were already in the pack hospital. Lucian hit the brake and came out of the car to help me out,the door to my side opened and I could feel my eyelids dilating,I was going to black out.

And before I knew it,I blacked out but not before hearing Lucian's scream.

I heard whispering and I felt someone touching my face and my lips,my eyelids fluttered and I opened my eyes. My eyes scanned around and I saw that I was in the hospital on the bed and with an IV on my hand.

“I'm…. alive.” I whispered.

“She is awake!” I heard Lucian's voice.

I turned my head sideways and saw that he was right beside my bed. He held my right hand and squeezed it softly, planting a kiss on it.I felt a jolt of electricity pass through me when he did that. I didn't have the strength I would have pulled it away from his touch.

“Allow me to check her vitals Lucian.” I heard another man say.

I looked behind him and saw a young man in a lab coat, must be the pack doctor of the pack. Lucian stepped aside so the doctor could check me.

The doctor said I was fine and I just needed to rest through the night. After he had assured Lucian that there was nothing wrong with me,he left, leaving only me and Lucian in the room.

“Hey.” He whispered and pulled a chair to sit next to my bed.

I shut my eyes and swallow my saliva after remembering that I couldn't reject him.

“Reject me.” I whispered without opening my eyes.

“I can't do that.” He replied in a sad tone.

“Why?” I opened my eyes. “I don't want to be with you.” I said coldly and I didn't miss the sad expression that crept on his face when I spat those words.

“Is there a reason why you hate me Aurora, have I ever done anything wrong to you?” He asked.

“I want to get some sleep.” I said, ignoring his questions.

“Okay but firstly you have to eat, I'll get you something from the cafeteria.” He said and stood up.

Lucian covered me properly,he even adjusted the bed for me before stepping out. My dormant wolf stirred in pain at the decision I made.

After I was sure Lucian was out of earshot,I sprang up from the bed and dragged myself out of the room.

Tears streamed out of my eyes as I ran out of the hospital.

“Curse the matebond.” I whispered sadly.
