Chapter 6

Raine’s POV.

“What should I do to you?” Lucius asked.

I glared at him, my eyes shining with defiance. “I have done nothing wrong. Why should I be punished? All I did was ask questions cause I was concerned about my safety. I see no reason why that suddenly turned into a punishable offense.”

“So much nerves in a mutt.” Lucius mocked.

I lowered my gaze, biting my lower lip to stop myself from crying.

“Look at me omega.” The lycan king Lucius demanded, his bite harsh and commanding.

I lifted my gaze, my eyes locking with the lycan King’s.

“So much power in such a pathetic, cursed creature,” he growled, his voice dripping with disgust. “I should kill you where you stand.”

Lucius took a step forward, his shadow falling over me like a cloak of darkness.

“But I will not,” he continued, his voice low and menacing. “I have other plans for you, Omega. Plans that will make you beg for the sweet release of death, as death will be the only safe place for a wretched thing like you.”

I shuddered, my breath coming in short, ragged gasps as Lucius’s presence surrounded me.

“Take her to the dungeon,” he ordered, his gaze fixed on me.

Oren nodded, his grip tightening around on my arm as he led me away.

As Oren dragged me through the cold dark corridors of the palace, I could hear the sounds of other prisoners, their cries echoing through the stone walls.

Oren shoved me into a small dank cell, his laughter echoing through the darkness.

“Enjoy your new home, a home fitting for a wretched omega like you,” He hissed, slamming the door shut with a deafening clang.

I fell to my knees, the stench of decay and misery assaulting my senses. I curled up in a corner of the cell, my eyes wide and terrified.

I sobbed for what seem like an eternity, my palm muffling the sounds of my cries.

I hated everyone and wanted to go on a killing rampage.

Why was I being punished for something I had no control over? Did I create myself?

Did I chose to be an omega? Did I ask for this curse to be placed on me?

Just then, the door to my cell opened with a freak and the sudden light made me squint and shield my eyes.

Standing in the door way a man, his hair and beard long and unkempt, his body thin and gaunt.

“You are the omega, are you not?” He asked, his voice hoarse and raspy. “The cursed one?”

I nodded, my voice caught in my throat.

The man nodded, “my name is Marcus,” he said, stepping into the cell.

“Raine... my name is Raine.” I managed to say, in a low voice that was barely above a whisper.

“I have been here for well, let us just say I have lost count of the years.” Marcus continued, his eyes fixed on me. “The lycan king captured me when I was young and I have been his prisoner ever since."

My eyes widened in horror, my breath catching in my throat. “But...but why?” I whispered my voice trembling.

Marcus chuckled, a bitter and dry sound that echoed through my cell. “Because I defied him, he said, his voice low and dangerous. “I dared to stand against his cruelty, and now I am paying the price.”

“Listen Raine,” Marcus continued, his vibe serious and urgent. “The lycan king is not someone you want to mess with. He is not a creature to be trifled with. He is cruel, evil, merciless and will stop at nothing to break you.”

I trembled, my hands shaking as I tried to process Marcus’s words.

“But you just be strong. For your own good, you must be strong and determined.”Marcus said, his voice hardening. “You must resist him, no matter what. For if you skip and succumb to his darkness, you will be lost forever.”

“O-okay thanks.” I said, a small smile crossing my face.

Marcus nodded, his face grave and serious. “Remember what I have told you, Omega.” He whispered, his voice urgent. “Resist him. Resist the darkness.”

Just as I was about to respond, a group guards burst into the cell, their eyes cold and hard.

“The lycan king has summoned the omega to his chambers,” one of the guards growled, his voice like thunder. “You are to come with us, now.”

Marcus glared at the guards, a look of warning in his eyes.

I hesitated, fear coursing through my veins.

But the guards were not to be denied, and they dragged me from the cell, their hands like iron around my arms.

The corridors of the palace were blurry as they led me towards the lycan king’s chambers, my heart pounding in my chest.

When we finally reached the doors, the guards threw me forward, the wood smacking hard against my body. I closed my eyes and winced in pain.

“Enter, Omega,” The guard hissed and grabbed my head, smacking it against the wall twice.

“I hope you die!” The guard hissed and spat on my face.

As I stumbled through the doors, I was struck by the beauty and grandeur of the lycan king’s chambers.

The walls were adorned with the finest tapestries, the floor covered in plush carpets and the air was heavy with scent of incense.

But it was the lycan king himself who dominated the room, his presence like a wave threatening to wash over me.

“Omega,” he purred, his voice sending a shiver down my spine. “At last, you are in my grasp.”

“I have been waiting for this moment,” Lucius continued, his voice a low rumble. “For the chance to break a cursed thing like you, to bend and break you as I deemed fit.”

“Why do you hate me! What wrong have I done to you? Is it my fault that I am cursed! Did I chose to be an omega?” I barked at him.

Lucius glared at me, and his eyes darted to the sword on his bed.

I closed my eyes and braces myself for death.

“At least it will be over...”
