Chapter 4 Meeting an Acquaintance

Julian was handsome and exceptionally talented. Since entering the translation industry, he had become what people called "heaven's favorite."

Megan and Julian had known each other since childhood, so she naturally knew she would run into Julian again in the translation world.

But she hadn't expected him to personally reach out to her.

"What? Surprised to see me here?" Julian picked up the coffee his assistant had just brought over and pushed it toward Megan.

Megan reached out to take the cup, her expression somewhat relieved as she said, "I should have seen this coming when I saw you at the hospital."

Julian's lips curved into a barely noticeable smile.

"You got into the company because of your abilities. I just happened to have a good eye for talent."

At this point, Julian paused.

"As a leader, I'm happy to show our company's future outstanding translator around the work environment."

This time Megan really couldn't help but take another look at him.

Julian, as a company leader, was actually this free?

Free enough to show a new employee like her around the company.

Thinking about all that old history between them, Megan couldn't help but laugh at herself.

What was she thinking? Julian was now successful and famous, while she was just a divorced woman, neglected by her husband and child.

Maybe Julian really was impressed by her abilities.

After struggling with her thoughts for a moment, Megan finally nodded slowly.

"Then I'll trouble you..."

Julian immediately picked up the conversation, "It's no trouble at all. You've always done great."

A warm feeling gradually spread through her heart. Megan smiled and said, "Then let's get started with work."

Sunlight from outside streamed through the glass into the room, falling perfectly on both of them.

Under the warm light, just like when they first met years ago, Julian and Megan smiled at each other, full of confidence and satisfaction.

Megan successfully joined the company.

With Julian's introduction, she quickly got used to the office environment.

......

Stroking the smooth, flat surface of her desk, Megan couldn't help but take a deep breath.

"As expected from a well-known big company, even a newcomer like me gets a pretty spacious workstation."

Sitting in the ergonomic office chair, Megan looked into the distance.

She saw the bright and clean office space, where everyone was busy with their heads down, fingers flying across keyboards, occasionally mixed with translation voices in foreign languages.

How long had it been since she'd been in such a calming environment?

Megan couldn't quite remember. Since marrying Tristan, she had lost almost all her personal space.

Every day surrounded by kids and household chores, her once brilliant talent had gradually faded.

"Really, what's past is past. Why am I sitting here feeling sorry for myself?"

Shaking her head with a slight laugh, Megan turned and threw herself into work.

The best way to repay someone's help is to give them back results many times over.

Megan was crystal clear about Julian's kindness, and for both emotional and practical reasons, she wouldn't let him down.

On the other side, Tristan still hadn't received an apology from Megan, and he couldn't help feeling irritated.

"Sophia has already forgiven what Megan did, so why is she still throwing a tantrum? As the child's mother, shouldn't she care more about the kid?!"

Tristan frowned, his fingers rubbing together anxiously. He finally picked up his phone and quickly scrolled through the interface, eventually settling on a name: "Megan."

He couldn't even be bothered to add the basic label "child's mother" - this was Tristan's so-called deep affection.

Right next to Megan's name, Sophia's name also lay there, except her entry had a conspicuous pink heart that really caught the eye.

"Screech" - the harsh sound of a chair scraping across the floor rang out.

Tristan's tall body suddenly shot up from his seat. He glared furiously, his fingers gripping the phone tightly, as if he wanted to crush the device.

"What?! Megan actually blocked me? Who gave her the nerve?!"

Taking several heavy breaths, Tristan's eyes grew darker, and finally he couldn't help but laugh coldly.

"Fine, Megan. You think blocking me means I'm out of options?"

"I want to see what you can do without me, Tristan..."

Slamming the phone face-down on the desk, Tristan rubbed his furrowed brow, then picked it up again.

"Hello, same price as last time. Help me find out where Megan is now and what she's doing... I want every single detail reported to me."

...

Meanwhile, Megan was on the phone with her divorce lawyer.

"Ms. Whitmore, I understand your requests. Rest assured, the evidence you've provided is very favorable for us. As long as you remain firm in your position, we will definitely win this case."

Hearing the lawyer's confident words, then glancing down at the draft divorce plan on her desk, Megan couldn't help but smile.

Expensive lawyers were worth it - in just one day, they had drafted a divorce plan and some backup strategies for her.

"Since you're so confident, I naturally trust you. Then as we discussed before, let's meet at the office next Saturday."

"Sounds good, Ms. Whitmore. I look forward to your arrival."

After hanging up, Megan leaned against the doorframe and stayed quiet for a while.

Closing her eyes tiredly, images of Tristan and Sophia's disgusting behavior flashed through Megan's mind, making her stomach cramp.

She was finally going to be free of all this mess.

From now on, she would have nothing to do with Tristan.

And forget about "thinking of the child" - Ivy had already chosen Sophia, even ignoring and treating her own biological mother coldly.

So why should she continue letting them push her around?!

Those people were so full of themselves? Then she would just turn around and leave, let them continue wallowing in their so-called perfect life.
