Chapter 5
Griffin moved lightning fast, suddenly lifting his leg and kicking hard into one of the thugs' stomach!
The thug screamed! Not only was he sent flying, but he also knocked down several others.
"Get him!"
With each punch Griffin threw, another person crashed heavily to the ground.
Even though these guys were used to street fights, they didn't stand a chance against Griffin!
Are you kidding?
He had worked in the DEA's most elite rapid response team, where everyone was top-notch.
And Griffin was the best fighter in the entire squad—that says it all!
In just half a minute, several thugs were clutching their stomachs, lying on the ground in agony, moaning in pain.
They got into that bright red sports car. Griffin floored the gas pedal, and the car shot forward like a roaring fire dragon.
At the same time, several cars appeared behind them in pursuit.
Kay stood at the door, screaming in rage.
"Bastards! Make sure you get him, dead or alive!"
These guys thought their driving skills were top-tier, but when they faced Griffin, they didn't stand a chance.
Even when three or four cars surrounded him at once, Griffin could drift and escape what seemed like certain death.
Evelyn, sitting in the passenger seat the whole time, hadn't said a word.
But from her excited expression, you could tell—she was very satisfied with Griffin.
"Watch out!"
This was the only time Evelyn warned Griffin.
They were tightly surrounded by four cars on both sides and behind, and now, a car was coming straight at them from the opposite lane!
Moving very fast, clearly planning to ram them head-on.
Even Evelyn, who had seen plenty of dangerous situations, felt scared at this moment.
But Griffin—from start to finish, his expression barely changed.
He just said calmly, "Mind if I scratch up your car?"
Evelyn paused, then suddenly felt confident.
Even though she had no idea how Griffin planned to get out of this mess, she just trusted him deep down.
"Of course not! It's just a car."
Griffin smiled slightly. From what he knew, this sports car probably wasn't cheap.
So Evelyn had money—that fit his requirements for finding a boss.
"Hold on tight!"
Griffin suddenly jerked the wheel to the right! The car slammed into the car on the right side with a harsh crashing sound.
Instantly, the oncoming car yanked its steering wheel, trying to ram Griffin!
Evelyn could clearly feel her heart pounding.
Was this the end?
But the next second, Griffin used all his strength to turn the wheel hard to the left and slammed on the brakes.
The tires left smoking skid marks on the ground.
The two cars behind also crashed into the side of the sports car.
But a gap opened up on his left side. Griffin floored the gas pedal, and the sports car shot out from the pile of cars!
As for those other cars, unable to dodge the oncoming vehicle in time, several of them crashed together and quickly caught fire.
Evelyn let out a long breath.
Good, she'd lived another day.
"I didn't expect your driving skills to be this amazing. I think I'm getting interested in you."
"Can you tell me—what other secrets do you have that I don't know about?"
Griffin shook his head slightly, "Sorry, answering that isn't part of my services, so I have the right to refuse."
Evelyn nodded with satisfaction, "Just keep going straight down this road."
Soon, the car entered a luxury villa district.
Griffin had been here before when he was at the DEA, on a mission.
They were trying to catch a drug dealer back then.
He still remembered clearly—when they caught the dealer, they thought the villa here was part of his operation.
But the dealer told them this business wasn't profitable enough to afford a villa here.
So Griffin only knew this place was expensive. Very expensive.
The richer his employer, the happier Griffin should be.
But just then, Evelyn in the passenger seat suddenly reached out her slender arm.
She moved fast, throwing a hard punch straight at Griffin's face!
Not only was she fast, but the punch was aimed at a vicious spot.
Griffin jerked his head to the side! Dodging Evelyn's attack in a twisted position.
If he'd been even slightly slower, he might have lost both eyes.
"Crazy woman, do you know what you're doing!"
But Evelyn didn't answer. Instead, she kept attacking with both hands and feet.
The two of them started fighting right there in the car!
But Griffin never actually looked at Evelyn—he was just responding based on sound alone.
And he could only use one hand, while the other gripped the steering wheel tightly.
Griffin saw Evelyn lift her leg, kicking hard at his stomach!
The heel of her high heel was very thin—if it hit hard, it could easily punch a bloody hole in his belly!
Griffin raised his right leg just enough to knock Evelyn's shin aside.
Moving quickly, he grabbed her ankle and jammed it against the center console.
His other hand locked around Evelyn's throat!
All these movements completed in just three seconds.
Now Evelyn stopped fighting, and the car had just pulled into a parking spot.
At that moment, Griffin was like a wolf breaking free—his eyes sharp and fierce, glaring at Evelyn.
"Tell me, what the hell are you trying to do?"
Evelyn's expression was completely calm, "I don't just need a bodyguard who can fight and drive well—I need exceptional reflexes too. So I needed to test you."
But Griffin shook his head.
"I need you to tell me what you're really trying to do. I can tell you're pretty skilled yourself—handling two or three men shouldn't be a problem for you."
"If it's just for everyday protection, that should be enough. So why hire me? Unless..."
Evelyn let out a long breath and lit another lady's cigarette.
Though every time she lit one, she just held it—she seemed to just like the feeling.
"You guessed right. I used my father's connections to investigate some information. There are major problems with federal agency accounts—lots of fake entries in the books."
"But you should know, if I dig deeper into this, everyone who benefited from those fake accounts will become my mortal enemies! And they'll all send killers after me!"
Griffin's body tensed!
He understood how serious what Evelyn just said was. But what puzzled him more was—knowing she could easily get killed, why did she insist on investigating?
"So I need you to protect me. And you meet my requirements!"
