Chapter 1

Olympia’s POV

I sat on the field of the Obsidian Pack market square, the venue for this year’s Omega bidding, an annual event organized by the Alpha King who sources elegant Omega girls for his five-star elite night club. This year, it fell on my pack and an estimate of three hundred girls were to be bought.

A thick wire gauze is constructed like in a wall bonding us while our families stand at the base of the field watching, waiting for the King’s agents who will buy us to arrive.

Around me, other girls sat in silence and in tears on the rough ground, their faces blank as if their lives were set to be taken. We’ve been betrayed, tricked here by the people we love. My stepfather stood at the edge of the platform, arms crossed, waiting for the bidding to start.

He hated me but I never thought it could get up to this extent, that he has to offer me for the bidding.

It all began this morning when I woke up and he informed me he would be taking his last born, my last sister who had a rogue wolf for sale. Out of his five daughters, Jenny was rough, insolent and violent to everyone even at just fifteen. Though I never wished this for her, somehow I was forced to believe.

I never knew it was a trick, not until I got here and he dragged me with all his manly energy leaving Jenny which he had wanted to sell.

“How could I sell my daughter, am I that stupid?” He’d taunted the moment I began to struggle with him, pleading with him to let me go.

My mind brushed back to his next words. “Jenny is a born rogue wolf, besides she’s underage, did you really believe that?”

“I would never sell my daughter to keep a useless Omega like you in my house. Twenty-one years and you still haven’t found a mate but are struggling with food with your sisters, adding to my expenses.” He complained so bitterly, twisting his face in fury.

“You deserve to be sold.”

“No dad, please. Please don’t sell me off. I’ll be good. I’ll find work and will support the family.” I pleaded, tears strolling down my cheeks. My heart was bumping so hard, the fear, the anxiety, I felt like suffocating. I wanted to run away, to escape on a second thought, but once you get into this square fenced round, no one leaves except the budding is done.

The king had made sure adequate security measures were put in place to avoid escape.

As I cried and pleaded, his last words re-echoed in my ears.

You deserve to be sold.

That means I was of no use to him and the family, even though I was the one cooking, homeschooling all my sisters to save cost and running errands for everyone at home.

Why would he have to see me as useless just because I can’t find my mate and I had till twenty-three years before being an old maid. The title is used for girls who haven’t found their mates.

I can’t tell if these hurtful words would ever leave my memory, these very words would make me see men as ungrateful and wicked creatures.

“Just look at what you’re doing to me!” I burst out crying so hard. “Masters sell their slaves and you won’t even mind that I’m your blood daughter?”

The king was joking with human life and here he was adding up to the evil. What an ill fate!

My cries fell on deaf ears, he didn’t even look at me nor my stepsis, they must have planned this. Even mom and the rest of my sisters.

I shook my head, tormented, ashamed and confused. I had been a fool to believe and follow him here.

The task masters hired to keep order seeing us struggling came forward, hitting me in anger and scolding me for being stubborn.

“No wonder he wants to sell you, no one can deal with a stubborn daughter like you.” One of them mocked, then the other pulled out three hundred dollars to my stepdad. A creepy smile took over his lips from where he switched his eyes to me, nodding at them to take me away.

The greatest betrayal.

They dragged me into the enclosure, shutting the door. I sank on the floor as the other girls here shifted so I didn't hit them.

This is absolutely the most prestigious and most horrifying market in the werewolf world, run under the direct orders of the Alpha king.

While we waited here in suspense, our families stood eagerly waiting for the agents to arrive. Soon they did. The price bidding for each one of us here would be set differently based on our bodies, education and wolf capability. The king’s agents are expert bidders, one look and they have scanned an Omega’s entire personality.

“Three hundred dollars for her,” I heard the man beside my stepfather say casually. “I’ll take her if you will agree to this.”

Then he weighed me from head to toe with his eyes, turned back to my dad. “She will look a bit stubborn.”

The words made my palms sweat. My stomach twisted. He was talking about me like I was an animal, even downplaying on the price because of what he thought I’d be. The entire scene made me want to throw up.

“Which three—” My stepfather’s voice snapped, wanting to question the price but the man struck his hand before him.

“That’s the highest we can pay for her,” the man said, pointing lazily. “She’s eighteen?”

“Twenty,” my stepfather corrected.

“Good, she’s of legal age to serve the king and his cartel.” He said, making it sound as if this was legit.

“Rise!” He commanded after my stepdad had gone silent, his silence interpreting to acceptance.

I bit my tongue hard, anger bubbling in my chest as I slowly rose from the ground. The bargain on the other girls continued, some were already agreed upon like me but I knew not all would be bought and it was to their luck.

“She’s without a mate right?” The man asked.

“Yes, I don’t need an old maid in my house. She’s such a liability.” He spat, looking away.

In shame and despair, I was dragged towards the waiting truck alongside the rest of the girls. We were heading to the king’s pack, Mooncrest Pack, like prisoners. I knew this day would come to my pack but since I wasn’t a bad girl, I never thought my family would want to sell me.

My wolf which has never failed in instincts tells me everyone at home knew it would turn out like this. Except I only.

The journey was going to take six hours. It would be six long hours of agony, the thought of it was already creeping me out. I felt my wolf breaking to pieces.

I have been sold and my life will no longer be mine.

But as the truck bounced over rough roads, as the girls around me kept on weeping, a different fire sparked inside me.

My stepdad thought he’d broken me. The king thinks I’ll obey him just like everyone else does.

They are wrong.

I may have been sold like an animal, but I wouldn’t live like it. Not forever. Not silently. I’d always wanted to become an activist after college, now I’ll become where I’m going.

I will fight.

I will scream for every girl who can’t.

Even if it kills me.

That was the very moment I stopped being the victim.

That was the moment Olympia Russell was born again—not as prey, but as the Omega with strength to fight.

And one day, I will make them regret it.
