Chapter 4
Brian's POV
I could feel Faith tense up at Emily's comment and I couldn't believe she could say that in front of her. Before I could say anything Jason stepped in."Whoa babe they've only just met give them some room to breathe."
I felt Faith let out a breath of relief and it made me feel better. I didn’t want her to feel on the spot here like she did at home. I knew it was a different kind of attention, but as the new girl most people don’t give a shit about comfortability. They will ask anything and everything to be in the inner circle and nothing was off limits. I had to shield her from that as much as possible today.
"Come on.” Jason said, lighting the mood," let's go eat."
We all sat at a table together and it dawned on me that I had never written my speech. It was time to give it and I was going to have to speak directly from the top of my head from my heart. Once everyone had their food I stood up.
"Could I get everyone's attention please?"I could see all eyes on me and my heart began to beat a little faster. I took a deep breath and began. Faith reached over and took my hand rescuing me as I did her earlier today and I was able to calm my nerves. “Jason and I have always been the type of men who thought love would never find us. Then one day in the fall Jason bumped into a sweet girl in Maine while on a trip with Jordan and I that blew his world out of proportion. They sat as they drank their drinks in a sports bar hidden in a small hole in the wall making some small talk which turned into some very serious talk and laughing at each other’s crazy life stories. They went there every day for a week and Jason knew even before then that he was going to marry her. He knew if he let her go that he would regret it every day for the rest of his life. After that week they spent every minute together. I'm glad he found you Emily because you make my brother a better version of who he already was. Love you little sis".
When I sat back down I noticed everybody had tears in their eyes and I couldn't help but notice I did too. I was over the moon for Jason. We were all quiet for a while as we ate and it let me think about the future more in depth. I glanced over at Faith who sat beside me and daintily ate her lobster tail. What would it be like to make her mine for real? For her to be my soul mate to have my children?
“Brian.” I heard her say softly, pulling me back to reality."Would you like to dance?” she said, holding out her hand.
I could not dance, but I was not going to turn her down. I took her hand in mine and pulled her to the dance floor. My brother loved classic rock as opposed to Emily who loved the newer style so we had a mix of things to dance to.Faith knew how to dance as she moved her body making mine look like it knew what it was doing. Her hands went over my shoulders and down my chest exploring my body as she smiled and looked in my eyes. Her big brown eyes sparkled with excitement as she gyrated around me. I placed my hands on her hips and followed her lead. We danced for hours until the sweat dripped down our bodies. I pulled Faith close to me."Are you ready to go love?"
She smiled drunkenly as I believe she had a few too many glasses of wine and kissed me square on the mouth. "I'd go anywhere with you."
With that I led her out to the doors of the venue and carried her the rest of the way to my car. I really hoped that she was asking herself some of the same questions I was asking myself because if she wasn't and she didn’t feel the same I don’t think I could live with it. I don't know why I already felt the way I did, but in a way I liked it and in a way it scared me. I didn't want to live the rest of my life alone. I gently put her in the front seat of my car and buckled her in and noticed she had fallen asleep. I quickly got in the car and began driving back to our hotel. My phone rang and I answered it without looking."Hello?"
"Damn it Brian I've been trying to call you all day. I have a job for you close by."
“Fuck Felicia I told you I'm on vacation this week. I told you that you needed to take the week off."
I saw Faith waking up in the passenger seat."Where are we Brian?” she asked as she stretched.
"We are on our way back to the hotel baby. Just sit back and relax and I'll have you back in no time."
"You have a woman in your car!” Felicia said enraged.
"You said with our line of work it's too dangerous to be involved, but yet here you are with someone!"
"Bye.", I said calmly and hung up.
I didn’t need her to ruin what I had found. It was already making me worry that Faith would never have anything to do with me once she found out what I did for a living. My phone began ringing again and I turned it off already knowing Felicia was a ruthless bitch who would never give up. She wouldn't be happy unless she had her way and it was something I definitely did not want.
“Who was that Brian?” Faith asked curiously.
"Nobody love. Don’t worry about it.", I said, reaching over to hold her hand.
