Chapter 6
He Hasn’t Changed
“If you have a problem with taking orders or working with females,” Safyer started, “then you better get over it,” she snapped. “I do NOT and will NOT take your shit or attitude. I worked very hard to get where I am, If you can’t deal with it then I suggest you get over it or find someone else to be my POC.”
There was silence on the line. “Uuuhhh...hi, this is Gamma Tarby Blackwell.”
“Gamma is there a problem?” Vega asked, trying to keep from laughing.
“No, no problem, Alpha. I will let you know when the jet is ready. There’s a private lounge that your team can wait in until the plane is ready to go.” Tarby informed them.
“Where did Beta Aden go?” Safyer asked.
Tarby chuckled. “He left the room. He didn’t really like the way he was being spoken to.” He continued to chuckle. “He’s not used to answering to a female of a higher rank than him.”
“Well, he better get used to it,” Safyer stated, “I’m not just a simple she-wolf who sits around while the males conduct business. So, he needs to get over himself.” She warned Tarby.
“Are we going to have problems.” She stated.
“I can’t make any promises, but I will discuss it with him.” He said with a snort. If anything, I’ll let him deal with the consequences.” Tarby chuckled.
“So be it but, make sure he understands what will happen if he continues his behavior.” She warned.
“Let me know when the flight is ready, and I will make sure my wolves are ready to go.” Vega told Tarby and ended the call.
VEGA’S OFFICE
“Sounds like Aden hasn’t changed at all.” She said rolling her eyes.
“Nonetheless, you be nice.” He wagged his finger at her.
“Papa, I’m always nice.” She said with a huge toothy grin.
“Yeah, I know what your nice includes.” He snorted.
“What? So, I had to put Jimmy in his place for mouthing off.” she shrugged. “He’s never mouthed off again.” she grinned. Vega just shook his head at his daughter.
“I’ll keep her outta trouble.” Rollins smiled, draping his arm around his little sister’s shoulders.
“Yep, and I’ll keep him outta trouble.” Austin slapped Rollins back and leaned on his brother.
Iza rolled her eyes at all of them, “and I will keep the three outta trouble.” Iza assured Vega and smacked both their heads together.
“Thank you, Iza.” Vega nodded. “I trust you more than those two knuckleheads.” Vega laughed pointing at his sons.
“Hey!” Both Austin and Rollins pouted.
“Stop pouting you big babies,” Safyer snorted. “Go make sure everyone is ready and meet me in front of the pack house in an hour.”
Her brothers mock saluted her and made their way out of their dad’s office. As much as Vega gave his boys a hard time, he knew he could trust them to protect and take care of their little sister.
“You know they will cause all sorts of problems?” Vega chuckled.
“Of course, they will but they also know when to have fun and when to be serious.” Safyer shrugged. “Dad, I’m still not sure about going back there.” She admitted.
“My sweet, brave child,” Vega started, “you will be just fine. I know you can do this otherwise I would’ve never agreed to it.”
“Dad,” she paused for a moment, and he let her get her thoughts together.
“Sweetheart, you are NOT that same sixteen-year-old girl that left that place. You are now the youngest General in Elite Moon history, and you are also set to be the first female Alpha of Elite Moon.” He smiled at her. “You can do this; you have to face your face your past so you can move on with your future. Maybe that’s why you haven’t found your mate.” He slyly suggested.
“Dad, that is not something I think will happen. I had a mate, he rejected me, end of story. No one had ever had another mate.” She scoffed at him.
“There has been reports of rejected wolves finding a second chance mate. It’s not often but it has happened. The Goddess has a plan for you, you just need to stay positive, and your mate will appear when you least expect it.” He smiled.
“Yeah, okay dad, if you say so.” She chuckled. “I’m not even sure I want another mate.”
“What? don’t let your mother hear you say that.” Vega gasped. “She anxiously waiting for you and your brothers to find your mates.”
“I will never say anything like that in front of mom. I guess if it happens it happens and if it doesn’t, well, I will deal with it. Besides, I don’t want to think I could go through another rejection.” She said putting her head down.
“It’s his loss and look where it has gotten him. He’s lost his chosen mate, and my thinking is because she found her true mate. She’s shacked up with him and doesn’t know how to handle telling him. So, she ran away with her true mate.” Vega guessed.
“I mean, Sara has always been flaky, but I know she loved Mason. As much as I hate to admit it but every time, she looked at him, I saw, I don’t know...love, adoration. At least, I think she loved him.” she shrugged.
“Do you remember anything about her friends, what she liked to do?” her dad asked.
“She always had her minions with her, some chicks named Cinamon, Shelly, Janet and Kelly. I think she was going to give them some kinda upgrade in rank to keep them by her side. I’ll get Ryan to check up on them, see if he can find anything out.”
“The more you can find out before you get there, the better.” Vega said taking a sip of his coffee. He gave her pointed look.
“What?” she asked.
“Does Tarby even know that you are General Fyer?”
“No.” she said quickly.
“Are you going to tell him who you are?” Vega snickered.
“I’ll let him figure it out when I get there.” She smiled.
