Chapter 4
Why Do I Hafta Go
Safyer sighed, “why does it hafta be me?” She rolled her head back against the chair she was slouched in. “There hasta be someone else you can send.” She groaned.
“Sorry sweetie,” the huge male behind the desk smirked at her.
“But ddaaaaaaaaaaad.” She whined, “why me?”
“Because this is your old pack.” He told her with a serious tone.
“Hahahaha!” She laughed. “No way am I going back to that shit hole.” She shook her head.
“Yes, Safyer,” her dad, Alpha Vega, told her. “You are going. No arguing with me.” He said leaving no room for agreement.
“Why? So, I can be reminded about what happened? See how far up his mate’s ass he is?” She grumbled.
Vega sighed, “no to both questions. I need my best, my top Elite Warriors on this. And who better than my Top General?” He said giving her his best smile, “and future Alpha.”
“Are you sucking up?” she asked rolling her eyes.
“When I found you, you were just a broken, lost and unloved sixteen-year-old,” he started telling her, “now you are a twenty-three-year-old strong, brave and loved female. You are my best of the best.” Vega told her. “They need my Elite General.”
Safyer frowned, “do they know it’s me?”
“Of course not.” Vega snorted, Safyer sat quietly for a few minutes. “Sweetie, this is your chance to get some closure.”
“I don’t need closure,” she grumbled. “He rejected me and I accepted, that was my closure.”
“Okay, good but I still need you to go to Blue Mountain.” Her dad told her putting the file in front of her.
She sighed out, “fine, what’s his highnesses problem and who’s going with?”
Vega chuckled, “Austin, Rollins, Iza and your regular team.” He started. “I think they will all do but if you find you need more just let me know.”
“Hey dad!” Austin greeted as he walked into his dad’s office and plopped down on the couch against the wall in their dad’s office. He stretched out his legs.
“Get your feet off the sofa!” Vega growled at his oldest son.
“Awe dad, I’m whipped out. I was still asleep when you called me.” Austin pouted with a yawn.
“That’s what you get for parting so late.” Safyer snickered.
“Hey, Wally turned twenty-one, he’s legal drinking age. So, we went out to celebrate his first drink.” Austin said looking at his sister with innocent eyes.
Safyer snorted, “yeah right, his FIRST drink, huh?” She smirked at him.
“Well, his first LEGAL drink.” He corrected. Safyer chuckled and shook her head at her older brother.
“Well, you need to sober up,” Vega told his eldest son, “you and the team are needed at Blue Mountain.”
Rollins walked into the office, “why should we help that shit of a pack?” He grumbled.
“Don’t start with that, I already went through this with your sister.” Vega narrowed his eyes at his son.
“She’s a strong badass she-wolf, she can face the fuqer who rejected her.” Safyer’s bff and cousin, Izabelle, told them as she walked in behind Rollins.
“Yeah okay,” Safyer smiled, “give us the low down. What do we need to know about this problem?” She chuckled at her family. She finally felt the love that she never really had.
Vega slid a folder to Safyer, “Luna Sara Kane went missing about a week ago and no one has been able to pick up her trial or scent of her or have any idea who could’ve taken her.” Vega stated to explain, “Alpha Mason has sent out word to every pack in the US and worldwide.”
“Wow! He really wants her found.” Iza said with surprise. “Is she pregnant?”
“Not that we know of.” Vega responded.
“How many pups do they have?” Safyer asked.
“Actually, they’ve never had any pups.” Vega shrugged. “At least not to our knowledge.”
“In the last seven years they’ve never had any pups.” Safyer asked with surprise. “I seem to remember they were always fuqing around whenever they had the chance.”
“Saf, you know that an Alpha couple, much less a normal wolf couple can’t have pups with a mate who’s not their fated mate.” Rollins said with a shrug.
“She has been pregnant several times but always miscarried.” Vega told them.
“I may not like them but that’s something I wouldn’t ever wish on anyone.” Safyer frowned.
“So, when do we leave?” Austin asked.
“As soon as you’re ready,” Vega said, “Alpha Mason is pretty anxious to bring his Luna home.”
“Welp, let’s get packed, notify the rest of the team and hit the road.” Austin said getting up and stretching.
“Rollie, notify the team, get them ready to go.” Safyer instructed her brother.
“How long are we going to be gone?” Austin asked.
“I have no idea, pack for a couple of weeks and if we need anything else then we can make a trip to Wally world.” She shrugged.
“You got it.” Rollie hopped up. “I’ll get them ready to go.” He saluted and rushed out.
“Have everyone ready to leave in an hour,” she shouted, and he waved his hand in acknowledgement.
“Wally world? Really?” Iza scrunched her nose. “Okay, fine, we can go to the mall.” Safyer chuckled. “That better?”
“Yes much, but they better have a VS.” Iza mumbled.
“Yes, I’m sure they have a VS, at least they did when I was last there. I guess we shall see.”
“So, how do you feel about going back?” Sabel asked.
“Not sure,” Saf answered as she packed her duffel bag.
“Do you think Jake remembers us?”
“Sabel, are YOU going to be, okay?”
“Yes, I’ll be fine. I was just wondering,” she sighed.
“You know they’re no longer ours?”
“Of course, I do but I can’t help but think about what could’ve been.” Sabel whispered. “We could’ve had pups by now.”
“I know you want a family, and we will someday.” Safyer assured.
“I know, let’s finish packing and show that douche bag what he missed out on.” Sabel said as she sashayed around her human’s head.
“You go gurl, shake that furry ass.” Safyer laughed.
“Is everybody on board?” Safyer questioned.
“Yep!” Austin answered.
“Okay, team,” Safyer started, “we are heading to my old home pack.” She sighed. “Seems as though the big bad Alpha has lost his Luna.” She said as she passed around the folders for each member with the information on the pack and Sara. Some of the warriors chuckled at their general’s crack about the big bad Alpha.
“Is there anything else we should know?” Ryan, one of the warriors asked.
“Other than Alpha Mason is a douche bag?” She snorted after a second or two, she cleared her throat. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.” She rubbed her cheek.
“Gen, you can tell or say anything to us, it all stays among this team.” Zack said.
“We’re not just a team, we’re family. We’ll do our job but no one in that pack better disrespect you. You’re of a higher rank than those lowly wolves.” Victor stated.
Safyer chuckled, “thank you, guys. I appreciate that but no one does anything without my go ahead. I know this pack well, at least I used to know this pack. I don’t think anything, or anyone has changed but we will see.” She told them. “We will all be professional and do our duty, got it?” She stated, looking at each team member. They frowned but nodded in agreement.
“Alright, settle in,” she said. “Captain let’s go!” She ordered.
“Yes, General. We should be there give or take in six or seven hours. So, sit back and relax.” The captain told her.
“Thank you.” She smiled and made her way to her seat.
“How long?” Iza asked.
“No more than seven hours.” Safyer shrugged.
Iza handed her a glass with amber liquid in it. Safyer accepted the glass as her brother’s plopped down on either side of her. “Thought you could use that.” Austin said clinking glasses with the other three.
“Thanks,” she said taking a gulp from her glass.
“So, tell us, how do you REALLY feel about going back to Blue Mountain?” Rollins asked.
“I’m not sure.” she admitted. “On one hand, I’m okay with it because I’ll let him see who he lost out on,” she started to tell them, “and on the other hand, I feel like that sixteen-year-old broken she-wolf that ran away from home.” She said, with her eyes closed.
“We’re here for you sis,” Rollie told her as he threw his arm around her shoulders.
“I know and I appreciate and love the three of you so much.” She told them as she leaned against his shoulder.
“Have you told Tarby that you’re on your way?” Austin asked.
“Dammitt!” She grumbled. “No, I forgot and lost track of time.” She sighed. “I’ll send him a quick text.” She shrugged pulling out her phone.
