Chapter 2

Who Is Her Mate

“LaRea, are you okay?” Tarby asked.

LaRea winced in pain holding her arms. “Yeah, just a burning sensation. I don’t know, maybe…maybe Sabel is annoyed.” she grimaced.

“Well, why don’t we all head back to the pack house and enjoy the wonderful barbeque that has been prepared.” Alpha Byron suggested.

“Sounds great! I’m starving.” Aden said rubbing his stomach.

“You’re always hungry.” LaRea giggled. “You and Tarby are bottomless pits. I hope your mate will know how to cook.” She snorted.

“We hafta eat a lot, shifting uses up a lotta energy.” Sara smirked. “You would know that if you’d shifted.” Sara shot at her.

“Sara!” Mason growled. “Go to the pack house, I will meet you there.”

“What about you?” Sara pouted.

“I’ll be right behind you.” He said caressing her cheek.

“Don’t be too long, baby.” She purred rubbing herself up on her mate smirking at LaRea.

LaRea clutched her chest again, feeling a pain in her chest again. “Maybe we should take you to see the doctor.” Tarby suggested.

“She’ll be just fine.” Sara snickered, waving her hand.

“So, you’re a doctor now in addition to being our future Luna?” Tarby glared at Sara. He wasn’t a very big fan of hers; she didn’t treat the pack members with respect and was always yelling at them and demeaning them. He just hoped that she would change when she became the pack’s Luna.

“Okay, break it up.” Mason said. “Maybe it’s not such a bad idea.” He said as he sneaked looks at LaRea.

“Must mark NOW!” Jake, Mason’s beast, demand. “You must get rid of the whore hanging on our arm, it hurts our true mate.” He growled.

“You will not speak about Sara in that manner.” Mason warned his beast.

“She is NOT our TRUE mate!” Jake snapped.

“No, but she will be MY Luna and OUR mate.” Mason told Jake. “I need a strong and beautiful Luna. A she-wolf who can lead with me and give me... give us, many strong pups.” Mason explained his reasons to Jake.

“She will NEVER be my MATE! And she will not be able to give us strong pups!” Jake snarled.

Mason and Sara were walking with Alpha Byron, Beta David and Aden. Tarby was staying close to his sister in case anything happened he would be right there next to her. They were walking to the pack hospital, LaRea finally agreed to go see the doctor on Tarby’s urging. Jake was arguing with Jake the whole way there, Jake wants his Moon given mate, he knows that she is strong, beautiful and would give them the strong pups that they will need to continue their blood line.

“You better not be thinking of rejecting OUR mate.” Jake warned. “She’s our gift from Mother Moon. You NEVER question who she deems worthy of us. She knows who is best for us.” He told his prick of a human.

“Nobody can tell me who to love!” Mason snapped back. “Sara has been with us for the last five years. She wants us for us, not because she’ll be Luna.”

“WRONG! She has been with you.” Jake growled. “I do NOT like her or even love her, and I know that her wolf wants her TRUE mate and are you sure she’s not with us because she can be Luna?” Jake planted the seed of doubt.

“Too bad, Sara and I have made the decision to be chosen mates.” Mason said, “we will reject our true mates when we find them.”

“Haha!” Jake laughed, “you expect me to be around for this joke of a mating? If you reject our Moon given mate don’t expect me to be around.” Jake threatened.

“You wouldn’t?”

“Try me you prick!” Jake growled and retreated to the depths of Mason’s mind. He even put a block so that Mason couldn’t talk to him. Deep down he knew that she was special and that she would be more than just a Luna. He also knew that he would never see her achieve all that she is meant to be.

“Mason,” he heard his name being called and his should being shaken.

“Baby, we’re here.” Sara told him.

LaRea cringed in pain every time Sara made skin contact with Mason. Tarby was starting to put things together. “Sabel, what’s happening?” She whimpered.

“Oh, my sweet girl. I’m so sorry but we are suffering from betrayal sickness.” Sabel told her, “our mate is with another female. He has betrayed the bond that has connected us by Mother Moon.” Sabel sadly said.

“LaRea,” she looked up and faced the doctor, “I’m sorry child but there’s nothing I can do for you except suggest that you find your mate.” He started to explain, “to see if he accepts you. At the moment he seems to be with another female. What you are feeling is the skin to skin contact they make.” He continued and lifted her arm, “these marks,” he pointed to, “are her handprints where she’s touching him.” He said, “I don’t know if he knows who you are.” He looked at LaRea. “Do you know who he is?” He asked her.

“Yes, my wolf knows who he is, but she won’t tell me.” She told him.

“Well, your wolf needs to tell you so you can stop this pain.” The doctor stated.

Sabel quickly surfaced, “trust me, I will be addressing this,” she growled.

“Okay, please let me know if you need anything. I’ll get your discharge paper ready and some pain medicine that you can use if needed.” The doctor said excusing himself.

“Thanks, doc,” Tarby sadly smiled.

“Sabel sweetie, who is your mate?” Beta David asked.

“It doesn’t matter who he is dad.” LaRea said swallowing the lump in her throat.

“Of course, it matters.” He told her, hugging her to his chest.

“This is your mate we are talking about.” He smiled at her. “He’s the other half of your soul, your soulmate.”

“I know dad but what if he doesn’t want me? And it seems like he doesn’t want me, he’s with another female.” She told him.

“Oh, sweetie,” her dad said as he pushed hair behind her ear.

“Why wouldn’t he want you?” Tarby asked with a frown. “LaRea, you’re a beautiful and strong woman. Any male would be lucky to have you as their mate.” Tarby tried to assure his sister.

“Thanks Tarby but I already know for a fact that he doesn’t want me.” She told her brother. “He has a girlfriend and they’ve been together for a long time, and we know that they have been and continue to be together. He knows who I am to him, and he still continues to fuck the female he’s with. I mean nothing to him.” She sadly explained.

“Tell us who he is.” Her dad growled out.

LaRea looked at Mason. “Do you want to tell them or should I?” Sabel emerged asking him.

“Mason, you know who her mate is?” Aden asked.

“Don’t lie either.” Sabel said, “let’s just get this over with so we can move on.” She told him.
