chapter 3: Strip Club

Chapter 3: Strip Club

Abigail

“Since when do you know how to dance around a pole?” Sonia asked with a mischievous smirk on her face.

“Hey, I used to take gymnastics and dance before my parents kicked me out, so I know how to move." I defended myself.

“Yes, yes, okay. Come with me to the club tonight and have a look around, if you like the atmosphere then audition.” I smiled at the thought of me and her working together.

Ever since the accident, it was like I became dependent on her for everything and even though she didn't complain, it was embarrassing.

That night, she got dressed into a short and very low-cut black dress which she looks gorgeous in. Just in case, I wanted to audition, she packed me a short blue dress that was open at the hips so my back thong would show. It looked modest but so revealing at the same time. While she straightened her hair, I used a curling wand to create some waves in mine and then shook them out. I finger combed through my locks and for the first time in months, I felt pretty.

Taking care of myself was hard but Sonia made sure I let my emotions out and stayed strong. Grief was really a weird thing, I would be laughing and smiling and then a second later, my world would come crashing down at the reminder that while I was sitting down, alive and well, my child was all alone somewhere, angry at her mother for forgetting about her. But I know that was just my mind thinking the worst, convincing myself that my baby was perfectly fine and happy was hard, but she was at peace now.

We left for the club a few minutes later after doing our makeup. Sonia was rocking a gold smokey eye with a nude glossy lip and me did my eyeliner on top of a simple neural color on my eyelid with a matte dusty pink lip. We looked stunning. The club was fifteen minutes away and the closer we got, the more my nerves heightened. I was a confident girl and I wanted to do this, but I tend to overthink and it didn't help that people online would always talk about how dangerous stripping was.

“Come on, I have ten minutes till my shift begins.  I got to show you around and introduce you to the house mother.” She paused and studied the look on my face.

“You don't have to do this if you don't want to, you know?” She held my hand.

“Don't worry, I am fine.” I reassured her with a smile.

Are you fine? I told my sub-conscience to shut up and follow her into the club. It is okay, it is not like anyone will really pay attention to me anyway. We walked up to the back door where a scary looking bouncer stood with a cold expression on his face. His head was bald and his skin was pale, he looked to be in his early thirties.

“Hey Skippp, how is the wife and children?” Sonia asked with a smile. He looked at her and a smile made its way on his face.

“They are fine, Sonia, thank you for asking. Who is this?” His voice was deep, like really deep.

“This is my best friend, Abigail. She might be auditioning tonight.” She replied, he looked over at me and I couldn't help but put my head down. Making eye contact with people was always hard for me, let alone talking to them and Sonia knew that.

“She is a little shy.” She said, taking my hand in hers to calm my nerves.

“I see, well, I won't hold you girls up. Be safe in there.” He opened the door and I felt as if it was kind of rude that I didn't say a word to him. So I mumbled thank you as we walked in.

“Anytime, beautiful.” He replied, which made me smile.

The closer we got to the main part of the club, the atmosphere changed. The air was filled with smoke as girls danced on the stage, men and women surrounding them and throwing money in the air. I felt chaotic but calming at the same time.

“Hello, Ladies, welcome to Pleasure Teazers.” A gorgeous lady came up to us, wearing a short dress and had a lot of money tucked into the garter on her thigh.

“Grace, how are you?” Sonia asked, seemingly uninterested. So we don't like her?

“Oh, Sonia, is that you? I didn't notice, you actually look half decent tonight.” Grace said, the sarcasm clear in her voice. My friend rolled her eyes, looking used to this.

“I am not in the mood today, where is Marble?”

“In that bathroom,” she replied before turning her gaze towards me.

“Who is this little thing?” I felt disgusted under her stare, why was everyone so intimidating here?

“This is Abigail and she is auditioning tonight. Not like it is any of your business.” Sonia sneered, getting impatient.

“Hmmm, cute.” She looked me up and down and my arms came up to cover my lower stomach. Sonia noticed, reaching out and pulling them away and shook her head at me.

You are beautiful, Abigail. I said to myself as I turned to Grace and smiled.

“Hi, I look forward to working with you.” She looked shocked before shaking her head and giving me a small smile back and then walked away.

“You are too nice,” Sonia said as she stared down at me with a boring look.

“I need people here to like me if I am going to work with them, Sonia. What else was I supposed to do?” I laughed.

“Whatever, just be wary of her, please.” She warned me and I nodded.

An older-looking lady walked over to me with a smile on her face. She looked so gentle and kind that the anxiety in me faded a little bit.

“That is Marble, don't be nervous. She is amazing.” I nodded.

“Hello beautiful.” She kissed Abigail on both cheeks, making me grin. She looked over at me and her smile brightened.

“Is this Abigail? You are absolutely beautiful, sweetheart.”

“Thank you so much.” I said, the energy radiating off her bringing my condolences back up.

“You are welcome, what brings you here today?” She asked, I looked at my friend who gave me a smile, knowing what my decision was.

“I would like to audition if that is okay, to be a stripper here.”
