Chapter Seven
Nora’s PaoV
Samael’s gaze was fixed on me and mine was fixed on the journal, I wanted to run over to him and snatch the journal but I knew I had to remain calm.
“How did you get that?” I asked trying to keep my voice steady without raising suspicions.
“Oh well, I know you thought you were clever but let’s just say I outsmarted you and got what I wanted, surprised?”
Alexander was growing tired and even looked more deadly, he closed in on sameal and questioned him again.
“Don’t make me repeat myself Samael, what do you want?”
Alexander’s deadly aura didnt get sameal to get his gaze off me.
“I want to know everything Nora, what you’ve kept hidden I want the full truth.” He demanded
I felt tense and I was starting to regret following Alexander,I should have just remained at the safe house to avoid this awkwardness.
“I have no idea what you are talking about, what truth are you demanding?”
He gave a little laugh before setting his face straight again
“Don’t act stupid Nora, I know everything you tried to hide, the exact thing you are definitely hiding from Alex right now.”
Beads of sweats were starting to break out of my forehead, how much did he know, and what was Alexander capable of doing if he actually found out.
“What secret?” Alexander barked.
“Oh I am sure Nora would be pleased to spill the beans, am I right Nora?”
I was trapped, and I needed to think of something. I had to come up with something really fast else I was dead.
“I think there’s something we need to talk about Samael.” I said finally breaking the silence with the plan forming in my head
His eyes danced with sudden interest. “Oh really? By all means Nora.”
I drew my breath praying that this plan better work else I was in deep soup
“I think we should talk about the Castro kingdom.”
The initial smile on his face had now faded away and his face was flushed with confusion before he tried to immediately regain his balance.
“Interesting choice of topic, what about the Castro kingdom do you want to speak about”
“Oh nothing much Samael, just the truth that has been kept from the world for a while, but hey, you can’t always hide the truth can you?”
“You are right about that, so stop keeping us waiting and spill the beans will you?”
I took steps closer to him? Standing face to face with the Bastard to make him feel intimidated.
“I know who was responsible for those deaths back there?”
“Oh really? And who might that be? You know Nora, I have been dying to know.”
“It was you Sameal, you were the one who betrayed my family and put my kingdom through hell.”
I got the exact reaction I had wanted from Alex gas his expression had grown darker, I could tell that I was winning.
“Is that true Samael? You have a hand in those deaths?”
“I have no idea what this lady speaks about, you know how women throw around dirty lies.”
He replied calmly but I could tell that he was lying, he was looking at every other thing except Alex.
“Come on Alex, you don’t seriously believe her now to you? I told you she’s lying, she’s only trying to divert us from the major subject matter.” He explained loudly trying to get himself out of the mess
“You didn’t really think I would lay claims about such thing without proof right? We will see if you are being honest or not.”
I pulled out a little paper I had kept with me and I saw horror all over his face.
“That’s not possible” he whispered but I was smart enough to hear it.
“Oh but it’s not impossible either.”I sneered
“What is it?” Alex demanded impatiently
“Proof, proof that he was involved in what went down on the Castro kingdom and that this is not just a lady’s worthless claim”
“And where the hell did you get that?” Sameal asked
“Oh well, I know you thought you were clever but let’s just say I outsmarted you and got what I wanted, surprised?”
I said smiling sheepishly as I used his exact words against him.
“Is what she says true?” Alex asked again
“Look Alexabder, I know it might look like it, but it’s definitely not how it seems”
“Oh please, save the boring ass story for who wants to hear it, we arbor interested. The truth is out now and there is no going back.”
There was quietness and Samael looked at me with disdain, laced with fear and terror. As though he saw an opening for revenge, he quickly launched an attack at me but Alexabder was quick enough to sever it and stop him.
“Stop the madness Samael, you will not hurt her, especially not on my watch.”
“Trust me , I am going to find you and kill you nora, you won’t get away with this.” He spoke with rage and struggled to break feee of Alexabder grip . But his words didnt maje me scared, I looked him in the eyes and I felt peace, the kind that made me feel I had defeated him and I didn’t have to be scared of him anymore.
I finally broke free and tried to run but Alexander’s men were already around us, they close in on him and he put his hands up in surrender.
“Listen to me Nora, I know you think you have won but this isn’t the end, “
“Oh yoi don’t scare me, and yes I have won, have fun with the rest prisoners.”
I laughed and he spat on the ground, muttering words as he was being dragged away by Alex’s men. I felt a wave of peace wash over me and I looked up at the beautiful night sky then back down as Alex who was starting at me.
“Are you alright?”he asked scanning me like a lab rat.
“Yes I am, thanks for asking” I smiled.
“Well I am sorry, I should have protected you better, and I didn’t.”
“Oh please, it’s not like you owe me anything and yet you still did everything possible, I respect that okay?”
“Well I promise to do even better next time, but I suggest we stay out of trouble so there isn’t a next time like this.” He joked
“You are a piece of work.” I joked back a looked into his eyes. They seemed to genuine and I wanted to give everything away and just trust him.
“So what do you want to do and go from here?”
“Uhmm, anywhere yoi choose to go, that’s fine by me.”
“That’s a very dangerous request, I am not a safe man to walk around with or maje such promises with.”
“Well you followed me to face Samael even if it was necer your cross to carry, its the least I could do, try and repay the favour.”
“If you want to be with me then it’s fine, but believe me this is not a debt and I am not asking you to repay any Favours.”
“Fine, but I will still.”
“Yeah, forgot how stubborn yoy can be. Well since the mansion is safe now, I’d say we return there for a Start.”
“Oh , so we are t returning back to the safe house? Too bad, I was starting to like it there,”
“Oh really? I thought you hated it? Or maybe you only love it because you get to spend time with only me right?”
“That’s not true, don’t flatter yourself. I guess I just loved the fact that it was away from people.but it’s time to get back to the mansion I guess.”
He nodded and I smiled. The drive home was quiet and tense, he ended up turning on the music to ease the tension and I found even hear him sing along to some of them which was weird. But maybe he wasn’t so stoic afterwards.
“You seem shocked that I am singing ? Never found a wolf with a talent or two?”
“No, but from your type of person, it’s unexpected.”
“Well there’s a lot you don’t know about me Nora.”
I wanted to scream “me too” so bad but I knew it was snarter to keep my mouth shut. I had secrets, but not the simple ones like singing or cooking, the type that could shatter hearts, one that nearly ended me in trouble with him hours earlier.
“What’s on your mind? Wondering other things I am capable of going?”
“No Alex, just this and that, nothing much. But yeah I am sure we will get to know more as time goes by, if you Allow.”
“That shouldn’t be a problem.”
The rest of the journey was pure music and silence, I was glad when we finally got to the mansion.
I jumped down from the car like I was being chased and hurried to the door, I could tell he was trying to catch up with me but I just wanted to get as far away a possible.
“Wait up Nora”, he called out and I paused.
“Uhmm?,”
He smiled and handed me the journal.
“I picked this up from Samael and I thought I should give it back”
I was in awe and shock
“Aren’t you curious about what’s inside?”
“Oh trust me, I am dying to know, but I know you’ll tell me when the time is right.”
He leaned closed to me and kissed my neck lightly
“Good night Nora..”
