Chapter Six
I struggled through the crowd hurriedly with Alexander, trying with everything in me to escape the tension I could feel around me. The words Samaek had spoken to me still reexhoed in my head and all I could feel was invisible bugs crawling all over my skin. “Nice to meet you again” he had said, but what was so nice about meeting me, maybe for him but certainly not for me.
As soon as we were able to get away from the flood of people, I felt great relief from within but I could still feel Alexander’s grip on my shoulders, even tighter than before, his eyes dancing around like he was desperately in search of something.
“Anything the matter?” I asked feeling scared but concerned
“I can’t say, something is just not right, I can’t place it, but the atmosphere seems off.”
I simply shook my head in agreement because I could understand fully what he meant by that. Nothing had gone has planned tonight and it only seemed to get worse my the minute.
His phone suddenly vibrated and I looked across his face with silent questions as he glanced through his phone screen but his expressions only darkened, he wasn’t saying a single thing to me.
“Well you know i would definitely ask, what is it this time.”
“It’s just, samael’s men have been spotted around my property, and that can’t be good news.”
I felt a cold shiver run down my veins, I could tell samael was going to keep playing games for as long as it took for him to get what he wanted, the only question remained what exactly did he really want?
His phone buzzed again before it rang and he placed it to his ear, his expression even more darker than it had been. He gave one sentence responses to the other caller and I was dying to know what they were talking about.
“We will be there in a second, just hold on a bit.”
Those were his past words before he pulled me into the car and kick started the engine, he was driving on a really high speed and I was scared for my life, but u trusted him and I knew he was necer going to put me in danger.
Maybe I had trusted him a little too much because in no time all I could see was the night closing in on us and then total blackout .
I was stuck in my own nightmare for a while before I suddenly opened up my eyes, I found myself in an unfamiliar dark room and the only thing familiar was Alexander’s face staring down at me with great concern .
“Hey Nora, I believe you can hear me?” He asked with his husky but calm voice , laced with concern
“What happened Alexabder?” I demanded trying to readjust myself and get myself seated to face him.
“I got a call from my guards and I was just about to head home with you, when samael’s keh attacked us. I believe a car accident was staged and I barely escaped.”
I carefully tried to recall the incidents that had taken place, y head was banging like hell but I wasn’t giving up since I was hell bent on accessing the information in my head. They started coming together little by little and I could remember all that happened before the Big Bang.
“So if the mansion is not safe then where are we? This doesn’t look like a hospital either.”
“Well I figured that Samael could access any hospital and he already got us at the mansion, so I brought you over to the safe house instead.”
“Any idea why Samael is doing this? I really wish he’d disappear from my life.
“Ohh he’s not only going to disappear from your life nora, as soon as o find out why he’s doing all this, I am going to make sure he disappears from the face of this earth, including his name and everything he has ever worked hard for.”
I could almost taste the deadliness in each and every word he spat, he was going to really make sameal pay and maybe that was a shimmer of hope, a little light at the end of this deadly tunnel.
But the more I stayed deeply into his eyes, all I could see was hidden agenda, unspoken words and things I was probably going to die hearing if I ever found out, so maybe he wasn’t that light I needed, like hell, he could be wirse than darkness itself.
I immediately set my thoughts aside , I had to focus on the present and how I could beat Samael at his own game, but if I was going to beat him, then I needed all the help I could get. So maybe I was going to use Alexander for the time being until I could find the real truth.
He handed me a glass of water and I sipped from it suspiciously, I realized how parched my throat was and I quickly downed the liquid.
“Where are we?” I asked staring at him
“Uhhh, don’t tell me you hit your head and you are starting to lose it, uou just asked me that question few minutes back.”he looked at me like he was trying to pick a fault with my face
“Don’t look at me like I am hopeless, I know exactly what I am asking . Where exactly are we.”
“Come now, you are not having weird ideas like i have kidnapped you right? Well like I said, it’s a safe house on the outskirts of the city and one of the safest places you could actually be right now.”
“No exact address, why’s that?” I asked arching my brows.
“Well it wouldn’t be a safe house if I just gave you the full deets now would it?”
“Deets? Since when did you use slangs?”
“I am only trying to lighten the mood, you’ve already been through quite a lot.”
“How thoughtful, well i would only be calm if I knew samael’s men are no longer hovering around the mansion .”
“My best men are working on that, you’ll be safe in no time. But until that happens , you stay with me and trust only me.”
I gave a wry smile and a little nod but I wanted to say more. Why did Alexander wavt to protect me away from Samael, he could always get someone else in my place, so I knew it was far from that. I pondered deeply in my thoughts when we suddenly heard faint footsteps approaching us.
“Can you hear that?” I asked in a hushed tone and he placed his hands on my lips.
“Whatever happens, remain behind me okay?”
I knew it wasn’t time to argue so I struggled to get up from the bed and stand behind him, the footsteps started to get louder and my heart was pounding, all of a sudden the door hade creaked and Alexander picked up and abandoned baseball bat ready to swing at whoever was coming in.
A tall loony figure, kitted in an all black outfit walked in and as soon as Alex swung the bat, he caught it and yelled.
“Woah, easy there Alex, not everyone is out to get you.”
Alex heaved a sigh of relief and hissed
“What the hell are you doing here Victor?”
Victor peeked his head to see what Alex was trying to hide.
“Ah, I see your are playing defense for the little queen.” He teased.
“You heard my question Victor, answer me before I lose my temper okay?”
“Fine, it’s about Samael. I need to know what your plan is because I don’t feel comfortable with how much nerves he’s having these days, do you have a plan or you’re too busy playing body guard.”
“One more comment involving her Victor and I will ship our head off to sameal camp as warning. I have a plan”
Victor kept his gaze on me as he spoke and something about it felt really unsettling but Alex was with me, and I felt safe at least.
“Well better get on with it quick,I can’t tolerate that eat furlong.”with that, left the room as the atmosphere felt calmer.
“You good?” He asked
“Yes Alex, any reason I wouldn’t be?”
“Well maybe because I know how Victor can be, but don’t worry, he’s with us, at least for the time being.”
“I hope so.”
He smiled at me and picked up his phone, the pretty smiled faded away and I knew something new had come up
“Well?”
“Looks like Samael has finally come out to play fully, he wants to meet with me and challenge me.”
“Well it’s simple, then we are not going,”
“We? You want to go with me?”he asked teasingly with a smirk
“Im not joking Alex, we are not giving sameal what he wants.”
“Yeah well if we don’t, he will keep coming after us and I can’t risk that, so have a little faith will uou.”
“Fine, but promise to retreat it needed.”
He didn’t give me any response and I knew he was t going to retreat. The wait for nightfall was the longest and as we journeyed to meet with sameal , I was scared to death.
We waited at the spot he had picked for minutes.
“Do you think he’s not coming?” I asked feeling uneasy.
“Oh I wouldn’t miss this for anything,”
Samael responded coming from the thick bushes.
“Good, because I came prepared, what do you want Samael?” Alexander asked.
“Oh don’t play dumb, you know exactly what I want.”
He brought out a little book, something that looked oddly familiar. Oh shir, it was my journal, I was a dead woman If the secrets I had written there ever came out….
