Chapter 6
Freya's POV
The next day, in Alexander's office.
Tiffany and I sat facing each other across desk.
I leaned back in my chair with a slight smirk, speaking casually. "Alpha, are you really going to make her apologize to me? Kneeling in a skirt must be hell on the knees, but hey, I’m not complaining about the view."
Alexander's jaw tightened. "Since you're both so eager to settle this, let's get it over with. No need for dramatics—just kneel and apologize."
I watched Tiffany's brow furrow deeply, confusion flickering across her features. In the past, if she'd heard me humiliate her like this, she would have clawed my eyes out regardless of consequences.
But now she sat there like a docile house cat.
The explosive confrontation I'd anticipated—Tiffany shrieking and lunging at me—never materialized, leaving my carefully prepared verbal arsenal unused. Her unnaturally subdued behavior puzzled me.
Naturally, I had my own agenda brewing beneath the surface. I wanted them to pressure me into joining the company permanently.
Only then could I show Tiffany what it truly meant to invite a wolf into the henhouse! I'd let her watch helplessly as I systematically dismantled everything she held dear, dragging her down into the dirt where she'd never crawl out again.
I would repay every humiliation from five years ago a hundredfold, a thousandfold.
Alexander's expression darkened like storm clouds gathering. "I can compensate you through other means. Name your terms."
"I don’t need anything from you except a genuine apology." I refused to budge an inch—I wanted to provoke them into desperation.
"I brought you here to solve the company's problems. Based on your current performance, I'm questioning whether you actually possess that capability."
I picked up on his hint right away. Alexander was suggesting that to achieve my goals, I needed to demonstrate magnanimity. He thought I was just being petty, obsessing over small grudges instead of seeing the bigger picture.
So what if I was?
Facing Alexander's thinly veiled insult, I didn't retreat a single step, firing back without an ounce of courtesy. "Such a massive company faces such serious structural problems, and you're the Alpha of the Moon Shadow Pack, yet you haven't identified the key issue. But you're quite experienced at lecturing others about perspective? Who exactly is the real culprit here?"
Tiffany looked totally lost, her eyes darting between us like she was watching a tennis match she couldn’t follow.
Faced with our verbal sparring, she clearly didn't understand what was happening. Since she couldn’t ask without looking clueless, she just faked a thoughtful expression—it was fucking hilarious.
Seeing Alexander's frown deepen, I pressed my advantage.
"A traitor has already begun dismantling the Star Pack from within. Keeping such a massive parasite embedded in the pack—forget Crown & Gem, I'm afraid the entire Star Pack will crumble to dust."
Alexander fell into contemplative silence. I'd come thoroughly prepared—Crown & Gem had been facing constant internal turmoil recently, so I was confident he understood exactly what I meant.
"You're suggesting there's a mole embedded in the company?"
"Not bad—you're finally catching on." I nodded with mock approval.
Only then did Tiffany catch on—we’d shifted from personal beef to corporate espionage.
She suddenly erupted like a volcano, wolf claws extending as she lunged across the desk at me. "How dare you insult Alex! I'll tear that smart mouth right off your face!"
This sudden violent turn startled us both, but my reflexes kicked in immediately.
I shot to my feet and shoved my chair forward, creating a barrier between us. Just as I prepared to retaliate with my own claws, Alexander reacted as well, pulling Tiffany back and using his Alpha authority to suppress her wolf.
"Alex." Tiffany looked at Alexander with pitiful, wounded eyes.
Alexander didn't respond—I suspected his mind was entirely consumed with analyzing the mole situation and its implications.
He positioned her protectively behind him and fixed his gaze on me. "So enlighten me, how exactly do we save the company?"
He wanted to test my actual capabilities beyond mere criticism.
I shot Tiffany a pointed look, her violent outburst making me question her even more. But with Alexander present, I couldn't voice those suspicions directly—I'd have to gather concrete evidence in secret.
However, Alexander's protective instinct toward her really reminded me of Luke.
Would Luke grow up to be a commanding Alpha like this? My mind drifted to how strong and successful my son was bound to become.
Alexander stared at me for a long moment without speaking, probably thinking I was contemplating innovative strategies to save the company.
Little did he know my thoughts had already wandered to my children at home.
But I quickly refocused and instinctively spoke with my trademark mockery.
"You're the Alpha of the Moon Shadow Pack, and you personally manage Titan Industries—such a massive investment conglomerate. Don't tell me you don't know how to salvage one small company?
I’m in a generous mood today, so I’ll toss you some expert advice.
Based on my thorough analysis of the company these past few days, our strongest business segment is children's design. We have proven successful precedents. We urgently need to secure a child spokesperson to push this initiative forward aggressively. Once it gains momentum, we can capture the majority of the children's clothing market."
Alexander nodded slowly, as if my words had struck a resonant chord. "Fine. I'm setting you a concrete goal—I want to see measurable results within one month. You can start with any department you choose, but I expect visible progress after thirty days."
"My Alpha, you seem quite forgetful. Appears you've forgotten something important—need me to refresh your memory?" If he thought he could simply brush this matter aside, he was living in a fantasy!
"Don’t push your luck!” Alexander roared, his wolf ears snapping out as his Alpha rage flared."
I stayed silent, letting my refusal hang in the air. Did he expect me to back down without receiving any benefits? Absolutely impossible!
I was no longer the broken woman I'd been five years ago.
"Prove you can deliver results in a month, then come make that demand." Alexander seemed to soften slightly, his Alpha rage gradually subsiding.
"What guarantee do I have that you won't renege on your word again?" I made what seemed like an appropriate concession.
"I'll personally ensure you get exactly what you want."
"Excellent. It's a deal."
One month to turn the company around while navigating deadly pack politics—what a brutal challenge!
Especially with a dangerous mole lurking somewhere in our midst...
