Chapter 19

Elizabeth looked from Zayn to Annalise. So it turned out that he was the owner of this place. She scoffed. So what was the big deal? Wasn't it just this place?

"Whatever. Isn't it just this tiny place?" She asked.

Annalise really wanted to facepalm herself. What was really wrong with this woman? Why can't she just keep her mouth shut and get out of this place? Won't she be able to rest if she doesn't cause trouble for other people? What does she really want by doing this?

Zayn smiled. He had already seen through this woman. She has a habit of looking down on people. No wonder everyone had a really hard time working for her.

"All the buildings around this one are mine," Zayn said. There was a smile on his face, whether that smile was genuine or not, only he would be able to tell. He really did not like having to brag like this. He always wanted to keep a low profile. Who knew that he would meet such a woman here today?

Elizabeth gasped. She could finally see where this was going. She looked at Annalise. Why is this man coming to see her here? She really wanted to jump to conclusions and insult Annalise some more but she decided against it. She was just going to give it up for the day. It wasn't worth her time anyway.

"I don't think that I will be coming here anymore. The service here is really bad!" Elizabeth said and walked out.

As soon as she was gone, Annalise sat down. She really wanted to catch her breath. That woman really knew how to annoy people. she just came here and put her in a horrible mood in a bid to make herself feel better. She already stopped working for her, why was she still bothering her?

Zayn looked at Annalise. It was obvious that she was not fine. That woman must have put her through a lot before he came. He walked over to her.

"Are you okay?" he asked her.

Annalise looked at him. She remembered just then that there was someone else with her. She looked up at him. The shock that graced her face when he walked in came back. What was he doing here? Why did he come here? But first, she did not forget to answer his question.

"I'm okay. You don't have to worry," Annalise said. She was not used to someone besides Nelly and her parents worrying about her.

"Are you sure about that? You seemed really stressed out when I came in just now. You don't have to keep it to yourself," Zayn comforted.

Annalise looked at him. Why was he being so nice to her? She suddenly thought about what Nelly had said. Could she have been right? Annalise shook her head. She did not want to start thinking like Nelly. And besides, she wasn't ready for any form of relationship Right now. She just wanted to take a break.

"Thank you for helping me out just now. But I really am fine," Annalise said.

Zayn frowned before he said. "I don't think that you were grateful at all."

Annalise was surprised. How did he come up with that conclusion? Of course she was thankful to him!

"Of course I'm thankful. Why would you think that?" She wakes. Annalise felt wronged.

"If you really are thankful, you won't try to pretend that you are fine in front of me," Zayn said.

Annalise sighed. Well, it seemed like he wasn't going to drop this if she did not tell him. Well, it wasn't as if she was hiding anything from him. She did not have anything to hide.

"I'm sorry it's just that...that woman, she knows how to put someone in a terrible mood! I already stopped working for her, why won't she stop pestering me? She came in here saying she wasn't impressed with all this and that I wasn't doing a good job. Seriously, what does it have to do with her? Why can't she let other people live their lives? Will something happen to her if she doesn't try to make you feel terrible?" Annalise let out. She was really upset.

She remembered that Elizabeth has always been this way to all her employees. She treated them like they did not exist and like whatever they did wasn't good enough.

Zayn felt bad for her but he was also happy that she was looking to him to tell him these things. "You don't need to mind what she says. It's obvious that she was trying to rile you up. You don't need to let her words get to you. And for the record, I think that you are doing a really good job here," Zayn said. That last part was a sincere compliment. He meant it.

Annalise smiled. She did not know why but she was beginning to find it more and easier to talk to this person. She never talked about her private life like this to anyone else but Nelly but she found herself telling this man everything about her.

"I'm really sorry if I feel like I'm complaining to you for nothing. I was just really upset when she said those things to me earlier." Annalise said. She did not want to come off as someone who was always complaining.

Zayn smiled. He liked it though — when she complained to him. "You don't have to worry. I like hearing you talk to me like this," he said. His words made it seem like he was flirting with her on purpose. In fact, he was flirting with her. He just hoped that Annalise realized it.

Annalise smiled. She remembered something that he said. "What you said, about you thinking that I'm doing a good job, do you really mean it?" Annalise asked. No matter what, it did feel good to be complimented by someone.

Zayn smiled. "I would never lie to you, Annalise. I'm telling the truth. I really think that you are doing a good job here," he said.
