Amara's POV
I gasped, opening my eyes. My arms were up like I was reaching out for something.
My breathing was abnormally fast and I could literally feel my pulse racing.
Gosh it was just a nightmare. I dropped my hand on the wooden pavement.
What was that all about?
“For someone who wants to survive, you have a terrible sleeping habit”
I turned to see Elias leaning on the carriage door.
“Excuse me,” I said, sitting straight. “I apologize for causing you any disturbances.”
He just glanced at me then stepped out.
That was when I noticed that the carriage was no longer moving. We had gotten to our destination.
I followed behind him, still keeping a distance while the chain slowed my movements. When I stepped out, the first thing I noticed was the fleet of carriages parked along one another.
Then my eyes shifted to the style where horses were being bred. Obviously the workers were humans.
Vampires couldn't handle the heat coming from the sun. Any vampire without a daylight ring would burn to ashes, the moment they stepped under the sun.
My gaze dropped on Elias’s fingers. Yeah there it was, a daylight ring. His attendants probably had theirs on them too.
My eyes stayed on him longer than I wanted to.
With his long white hair flowing in the wind and crimson eyes staring deep into the sky, any normal girl would be head over heels for him.
Then I realized something. But I shook the thought off.
It was just a nightmare. There was no need to overthink it.
“We'll be heading to the court room immediately.” Elias said, his voice snapping me back to reality.
He turned back to one of his attendants. “Make sure the slaves are taken to their quarters and put to work immediately.”
The attendant nodded and walked towards the opposite direction, yelling at the slaves to move.
Elias looked back at me and nodded for me to follow him up behind.
He started moving towards the staircase that led to the front courtyard that floated ahead of us.
I followed reluctantly, flanked by two vampires who never let their eyes leave me for a second. The stone steps were wide and polished, suspended in midair, held by no chains or wires.
Whoever did this has an incredible amount of magic. Not all vampires could use magic and even within the rare faction that could use it, most didn't have that much magic.
When we got to the front courtyard, I turned to check the distance but the stairs started dissolving into dust.
Great… Now I couldn't escape even if I wanted to.
I turned back to Elias to catch him smirking at me as if he could read my thoughts.
“C'mon pet,” he said, his voice dripping with mockery.
I closed my eyes briefly, then followed him from behind while keeping a straight face.
The Crimson Palace was just as the rumors had portrayed it. Built from deep red stone streaked with black veins, it stood tall with sweeping arches, razor-sharp spires, and stained-glass windows that shimmered with a dull, blood-like color. Vines clung to its surface, not green, but silver and thorned.
It was beautiful, yes, but not in a way that invited awe. It was the kind of beauty that promised pain. A predator’s kind of beauty.
The gates opened with a low moan, and I stiffened.
There was no going back now.
We stepped into the palace hall, it had the same feeling as the exterior. Pillars colored in black and white with a unique gothic design.
Vampires lined up, bowing their head as Elias and I walked further into hall towards a large door at the ending.
As we got closer to the door, my gaze shifted to Elias, he must be pretty high-up to receive such a special welcome.
I shifted my gaze back to the door ahead. Well I shouldn't be prying, I had my own fate to face…. and besides knowing anymore would only get me in trouble.
When we finally got to the door, Elias came to a stop.
“Whatever you do, don't anger him” he said simply.
I would have thought he was making a joke if not for the cold expression he was wearing.
Then I noticed his hand was shaking slightly.
It made me begin to wonder. Who was the person behind that door?
Elias took a deep breath then pushed the door open.
The door instantly gave way followed by a large creak.
The sound of a girl moaning with pleasure echoed throughout the throne room.
“Yes master, your kitty has been bad today, I'm so sorry so please punish my ungrateful pussy.”
