Burglar

Travis POV

“Are you sure you're fine sir.”

Marcus asked once more and I sighed. “Yes.” For the hundredth time.

Nope. I wasn't. I couldn't help but think of Hillary. Marcus finally left me alone in peace and I laid on bed facing the ceiling. I can still get to her still. I sat back and grabbed my phone. Hillary wasn't aware I managed to place a tiny GPS device tracker on her clothes and bag. Call me stalker, but I don't want to lose her again.

I just viewed the location on a map and for some weird reasons, I was not satisfied. I wanted to talk to her and see her again. But it was already dark. Maybe I should but I had to disguise myself.

I rushed to my closet to grab a to-match black sweatpants and hoodie. I knew exactly what I was doing. I didn't forget my parkour skills back then in high school or martial arts talents.

After having my bath, I dressed and went to the garage to take my Lexus car out of the other expensive ones. I just needed to look casual. No rich vibes needed. I glided out of my mansion into the city.

Hillary's location was actually based on the tracker. I kept on thanking myself for placing a GPS on her. This was the only way we would reconnect. Then, I was getting closer and closer till I swerved into the street. I scrunch my nose in annoyance. This was no place for a rich person like me. After passing some houses, there came a proximity alert. Yes! She's close.

I parked my car at a nearby space and came down stretching.

“ All this for a girl?” Really Travis. I scolded myself. She had every right to be mad. I called her a whore and really made life hell for her so I'm going to apologize. I got the exact building she was in but couldn't get the room. This might be hard, I might turn into a burglar.

I just leaned on my car. I was close but not close enough. What now? I carefully observed the windows. So this is where Hillary stays. Should I knock on the door or…… No. That's lame.

Suddenly the lights went off and on. I had to get to my car again to take my telescope. Sorry for disrespecting people's privacy but this was more important. That's when my eyes landed on her sitting on the bed.

I dropped the telescope and smiled to myself. “Gotcha.”

She was alone and still looking peaceful and innocent as usual. I dropped the telescope staring at the particular window. Calculating how I would get up there without making a sound.

I guessed something was wrong with the lights. It blacked out totally and this was my chance. My eyes were sharp like a snake's.

I carefully observed the best route to climb up to the window. With my parkour skills, I spot potential handholds and footholds on the wall. I took a deep breath, visualized my path, and climbed.

My grip was firm and my feet danced across the surface, searching for secure spots to push off and minimize noise.

I had gotten to Hillary's window so I slowed down and peered over the sill, checking if anyone was nearby. With a final push, I hoisted myself up and pushed myself into the window, the lights were turned on and the door opened. It was Hillary. We were both in shock and she screamed out loud before I rushed to her to cover her mouth and closed the door.

“Shhhh.” I silenced her and she pushed me away. Her hands covered her mouth.

“Oh my gosh”

“Hillary, calm down, it's me.” I breathed in and out and pulled my hood back.

“W…hat? How did?.....Why…..”

She couldn't help but stutter. I noticed there were tears in her eyes.

“Are you crazy? You scared the hell out of me and how did you get here.?” She moved away from me and looked through the window.

“Why does everyone keep coming back at me?”

I couldn't understand what she meant but she raked her fingers through her scalp in confusion which I found sexy.

“Hillary, just calm down.” I placed my hands on her shoulders and she breathed heavily. I must have really scared the shit out of her.

“Calm down?” She chuckles. “Calm down?” She repeated, this time frowning. “How did you even know I lived here?”

“Okay. That sums it all.” I clapped my hands. “ Let's say I had you tracked.”

“You what?!” Her cute teeth grits.

“Crazy. Yeah. I know. I know.” I put my hands up In the air. “ That was really brave of me to come here.”

I applaud myself and she rolls her eyes. “Why?”

“We might not be able to see each other again so I had to do something I could do. I placed a GPS on your clothes at the bar the other day.”

“How? And how didn't I notice it?”

“That's not important. I actually wanted to talk to you and apologize.” I shivered at the last word.

“Apologize?” She laughs. “ I thought the Lancasters were always right?”

Nahh. She was doing this stuff again.

“Come on. I'm being honest. I wouldn't drive all the way for nothing.”.

“Right. How did you even get up? The moment you came in, I assumed it was a burglar.”

“I'm so sorry for that.” I apologized again and we were silent for a while.

“So you even have a house?” I pressed. She sighed. “I do not. This is not my home. I work as a maid here to a woman with 2 kids.”

“Ohh. Really?”

“Yes.”

“Okay.” I wanted to ask more about her personal life, parents too.

“Why are you really here?” She demanded and sat on the bed which I copied.

“Okay. Firstly I'm going to apologize for calling you a whore. You didn't deserve that.” I bowed my head in shame and regret. “ I'm really sorry.”

“Okay. Apology accepted.”

I turned to look at her. That easy?

“ Would you not turn my request down again? Please. Hillary. Come be my assistant. Instead of working here. You should have a comfortable life.”

“And where do I stay? I'm here because I work as a maid so it's free accomodation. I can't just quit at any time.” She groans.

“I'm willing to offer you any choice of accommodation you want. Villa? Hotel, condo? Come on, anything is fine with you.”

Her eyes widened. “ That's too much I think. You already offered me a good job.”

“Hold up. Does that mean you've accepted it?”

“Well, I…. I want to. But like I said, this works. I can't leave it like that unless I'll talk to my boss if she would let me double work which would definitely be stressful.”

My face fell. “ That's true.”

“But I could still do it.” She cheered up. This was actually strange. The way she accepted my offer without elongating the matter or declining as usual.

“Are you sure?”

“I'll talk to my boss tomorrow first.” She explains.

“I'm going to take that as a yes. Hopefully. Now…. I'm not going to leave without having your phone number on my phone…”
