Two faced

Hillary's POV

I pushed him hard but his balance was on point. I was fuming and he raised his head, smirking.

“Did you miss me? Why are you even here? To pay me a visit? Hillary.”

“I knew you were the one behind it all.” I accused.

“Behind what? Be specific. I'm behind a whole lot of things.” He says proudly like the fucking Billionaire he was.

I scoffed. “ You're so wicked.”

“Oh, am I?” He smiles. “ And you? How on earth did you know I would be here?”

“My instincts told me!”

“Good girl. Always manages to use her chameleon skills when necessary.”

“Oh please.” I rolled my eyes tapping my foot. “I just found out okay?”

“That?”

“It's you behind all my bad luck. I've been searching and searching and tired searching for a fucking job but you managed to close every opportunity down on me.”

He chuckles. “ Are you accusing me? Did you come to my company and I shut you down?” He asks.

“I tried applying to all event specializing companies. I got rejected Just at the mention of my name!”

“So what does that have to do with me?” He acts like I'm stupid.

“You….well” I started stuttering. Why was I out of words? Say something so it won't be like he won. I needed that comeback.

“You're behind it. Travis.”

“Evidence?”

“I don't have one.”

“So why me?”

I sighed. “ I overheard a receptionist talking to his colleagues that you gave the order.”

“What?” He was surprised. Oh yes. That look on his face.

“What is the name of the company and the person that said so? His tone was a bit raised.

“Why should I tell you?”

“Just say it! When I make an order, it's supposed to be carried out without any fucking leaked information.!”

He yells. Looking deep inside my eyes. Those friendly eyes were replaced with sudden intense and piercing anger. He was really angry. Fuming. His hands and Jaws were clenched and I'd never seen him this way.

“Hillary answer me. I control all the companies in this region. Yes I implemented the rule that no company should take you. He stated without remorse. No feelings. No guilt.

“I didn't want you to get a job and made the order to reject your resume online and physically reject any Hillary Highman by name. Either small or big specializations.”

My whole body was breaking. This was total malevolence. Has it gotten to this point already?

His expression was just unreadable and he spoke with a deadpan look. I blinked the tears away from my eyes and quickly looked down to the floor.

Come on Hillary, don't embarrass yourself.

“Why can't you just fucking tell the their names. Huh? I wanna know the fucking idiot that told you that.!” He roared and moved closer.

“ Look at me, Hillary.” He claimed my jaw and raised them. I was forced to look into his eyes and my teary face was obviously visible to him.

“I wanna punch them in the face and sack them for disobeying my orders.” He whispers and I was intimidated. I was scared. I pushed his hands away and cleaned my tears.

“I'm just gonna go.” My voice came as a choked whisper and he came in my way acting as a barrier.

“You're not going anywhere.”

Gosh. I've never seen him so serious.

“Please.” I begged.

“No.”

The air was full of tension. He was waiting for me to say something. I was anticipating leaving and never came back. Anyways I would stop looking for any event related job. I had already planned in my head about what to do. I would continue with the cleaning job.

“Why would I let the person go scot-free? He leaked what was not supposed to be.”

“It was a mistake. He didn't mean to.” I defended myself.

“Simple order and he ran his mouth.”

He raked his hands through his hair looking so eager for what he wanted. This side of him was scary.

“You really don't want to talk huh? He half smiles. “ You know you're not leaving here until you say so. I wanna know the fuckers who went against my command. It's me and you here.”

“Can you just stop?”.

“No I can't stop and I won't.”

“What do you want anyways? Why are you being so arrogant and proud? Why do you always belittle me? Haven't you had enough. If I wronged you as playing the part of a rich person who I'm not. Then I'm sorry.”

“It's not that Hillary.” He sighs, smacking his head in frustration.

“So it's what? Why won't you leave me.. why won't you stop oppressing me? I'm a poor girl looking for a means of survival. Do you know how hard it was for me?”

My tears started falling again and I was embarrassed.

“Why are you doing this?” I wiped my tears down and decided to walk down on him hoping he won't stop me.

“Because I want you.”

His words put me on halt. I was breathing in and out slowly. I shut my eyes tight. I just heard what he said.

“I want you to work for me.”

I turned to him and he continued.

“Hillary. You're not just good. You are perfect. That's why I want you to work at caster instead. To be my assistant. I don't want you elsewhere. To give other people ideas. Well, I don't own every event company but I was able to still threaten them.”

There was an awkward silence. “ I didn't even know about any of your skills but I saw your resume one day at the office. There weren't any past works shown but the resume was intriguing. That's when I decided to tell my assistant to set you up for an interview.”

That's when I realized. Indeed he was correct. I did receive the email when we were supposed to make out in the office.

“ But when you came, it was weird because neither of us expected to see, especially when I thought you were the other woman. And Marcus told me he almost ran over you and somehow he found out you were a genius. He showed me your sample and it was excellent . I did show it to the couples. This is what they want. They loved it. I mean of every one, only yours was better in their eyes.”

My mind flew. Oh my gosh. They really loved it?

“That's why I want you, Hillary.

“That's why you made it hard for me to get a job?”

“I'm sorry but yes.”

I scoffed. “ And you still had the intention of taking me. What if I decided to leave town? What if I decided not to find you…..”

“Then I will find you myself.”

He had confidence with his words.

“What if you didn't see me?”

“I'm Travis Lancaster.”

I rolled my eyes. Of course he is. I took a deep breath.

“So?” He asked.

“If I agree to work with you, are you still going to press on with the issue of the company that leaked the information?”

He took a deep breath. He felt defeated and maybe would have no choice. I was waiting for his answer but then my mind went back to Victoria. My heart skipped. No. Victoria would be the major issue.

“Okay. Fine.” Travis finally agreed.

Oh. Boy. This decision was so hard.

“I'm sorry but I can't.” I said with sadness.
