Travis is a Dick.
Hillary's POV
I still couldn't believe the strange dream I had. Travis and I. The foreplay that occured. Oh gosh. That was wild. I took a deep breath. I should hustle today. Find something to do actually. I walked out of the garage and looked around. Damn, I was one really homeless girl.
Maybe I should find a job and get a paid job immediately. I walked towards some apartments and houses wandering like a fool till I saw a poster on a house fence, ‘maid needed. Free accomodation.’
I knocked and a woman came in.
“Hello.” She greets.
“Hi. Good morning ma'am. Um I saw your poster and I'm in need of a job.”
“Okay. What's your name?”
The woman asked me a whole lot of questions and did a background check on me. I had to lie about something and she was touched.
“Oh dear, don't worry. You have a home. But you'll need to work very hard.”
“Yes. Of course I will.”
She led me in and the duplex was really beautiful. She had children too. She showed me the room I'd stay in and timetable for sanitation. She was even kind enough to get me some toiletries. I brushed my teeth and took my bath heading out to find a job with my resume. I still haven't given up. I just want a suitable job. Firstly, I went to some small organizations and event offices.
I took a taxi to sparkle events. I was going for an in person application. Thank God some companies people for these kinds of applications. The moment I was in the building, big, not not as massive as Travis's. I walked to the receptionist.
“Hello.” She greeted me.
“Hi.” I smiled.
“How may I help you?”
“I'm interested in the event planning position.”
“Okay. You'll have to meet our event manager. Mrs Taylor…oh. Here she is.”
I turned to see a lady walking and the receptionist ran to her whispering.
The Mrs Taylor Boss getsured, “ Follow me.”
I did as told and we went into her office.
“Can I see your resume? Your previous work is important.”
I fidgeted nervously. “ Um, I don't have any previous works.”
She gave me a keen stare. “ What's your name?”
“Hillary Highman.”
“What?!” She exclaimed. She swiped through her phone and after some seconds, turned to me. “I'm sorry I don't want to check what your resume looks like. You may go.”
“But why?” I asked politely, still confused.
“Please leave now before I call security.” Her expressions were clouded with shock.
Oh no.. what could possibly be happening? Why? What's with my name?
“But ma'am please hear me out.”
“Hillary Highman I'm sorry.”.
“You don't even want to listen to me.” I dragged. “I'm really a good person with presentable skills.”
“I don't know what to hear from you. Just leave now.”
“Why?” I pressed. I was filled with anger and fear.
“Oh. Please. Don't make me call the security.” Her hands were folded. She glanced at the door waiting for me to leave and in response, I did. Shit. What did I do wrong?
Sparkle events, cancelled. Why? None. I walked shakily out of the building. My whole body would break down at any time.
Second company on my list, D-GREAT enterprise. It was not very far so I decided to walk there from sparkle events.
I was already tired but managed. I walked in the building and went to the receptionist as expected.
“Hello. My name is Hillary Highman and I would like….”
“Your name is what?” She asked.
“Hillary Highman.” I came again.
“I'm sorry, but we don't want to accept people to…um…. work…for….” She started stuttering till a man on corporate walked to her station. I assumed he was also in the same level as her.
She started whispering to him.
“Remember what he was told, we can't hire Hillary Highman.”
I heard that. I did. I froze.
“I'm sorry.” She clears her throat. “ We can't.”
I was short of words. What's going on? Was it my name? Why?
“O…okay.” My voice came out barely as a whisper.
Maybe. Maybe. I took a deep breath. Maybe, they didn't like my name? I questioned myself. But I didn't care. I would walk around all and every company I knew.
I went into another one. The name was Yes and Yes event.
I scrunch my face. These motherfuckers better say yes to me or I'll unalive every one of them.
“Hello.” I greeted the receptionist and it was a male not female. He smiles cheerily. I really hope this will be different.
“Your name and what I may do for you.?”
“ I'm Hillary Highman and…”
“You're Hillary Highman?” He repeated.
No fool. I'm Hillary Low. He obviously heard me lucid.
His happy face turned into a confused one and he laughed nervously. “ I'm sorry. You can't be here.”
“Why can't I be here?” Third rejection? Man, what the hell was I doing wrong?
“Because you can't be here. Hillary Highman.”
I felt like crying. “I want to speak with your boss. I'm here for a personal application. Why should I be speaking with you instead?” I changed my meek tone to a feisty one.
“Since when did the receptionist become the, oooh.” I widened my eyes. “The one to reject people?” I bat my eyelashes.
His calm tone disappeared. “I'm just following orders.”
“Yeah, right. Orders.” I swing my feet. “Wait, what?”
“I didn't say anything.” He rushed.
“What do you mean by that?” My curiosity sparked. “What's going on anyways.?”
“Please leave ma'am. My boss would tell you the same thing.
I gave him one more stare before exiting the building. Maybe I should try another one. But before I did, I checked all my emails. Every single one I applied for was rejected without any specific reasons. What's happening? This looks abnormal. If Travis company was thrilled to accept me without any work then why would all these ones without even high standards just throw me away.
No giving up Hillary. We'll do this again. I had to ask Around for anyone's company and as directed, I boarded a bus. This particular place was far from this city with a hub of activities. While the bus was going, I realized the place was familiar. It felt like I've been here before. The buildings, road, every inch of the place was catchy. I gasped when I saw the club. It was the one I was taken to by the Driver to drive me here for the one night stand with Travis.
I sighed. I wasn't mistaken. It really was it.
The bus dropped at the station and I walked down to the company.
“Pacific.” I read from the building interiors. This one was also massive too. My heart kept pounding with each Step I took.
“Hello.” There were about three people on the desk.
“Hi.” I responded tiredly.
“May we know your name and how we can help you?”
Seriously? What do they want with my name?. I hesitated before speaking. “Is that necessary because I'm here for in application and you should refer me to your manager.”
“We need to know your name. Following orders.”
“Fine.” I sighed. “Hillary Highman.”
Silence. They all went quiet.
“Just take her to our manager.” One of them said,
“Are you crazy? The order from Travis Lancaster that she shouldn't be accepted or even talked to isn't something we're all going to risk.”
Fuck. My breath shuddered.
He covers his mouth immediately.. he said something he shouldn't have. Wait hold the phone? I just heard Travis Lancaster. Travis was behind this?
My tears were begging to fall but instead I ran away. Out of this building. How there that idiot. I clenched my jaws. I'm going to kill him with my bare hands. But how do I find him? Would he be in that fucking expensive extravaganza club. I would go there to try. Even if looked less like a middle class person. I started walking angrily
Travis Lancaster. You're going to pay for this.
