Mess up

Hillary's POV

I knew the main reason I interfered in Mr Marcus' business was because I knew if I soared high in the project, I'd make some money. Even planners are fucking day light thieves but it was really hard for me to get a similar job like that.

“Be kind to your customers, okay? You don't wanna avoid getting tipped.” Bridget winked her eyes, Her hands dusting my dress and sizing me up with her eyes.

“Of course I'm a kind girl.”

“Well, What did Victoria say?”

My smile faded. “Truth is, I just left that day. I didn't tell her anything and I'm not going back.”

“You literally worked half a month. At least you could have requested for half salary? Maybe.” She shrugged as we sat down over the table.

“I don't know. I just…..” I opened the lid of the bowl. The aroma of pancakes consumed the air. Damn.

“Well, Embarrassing things keep on happening.”

“Uhh, excuse me? Since when did Hillary start being so embarrassed when it comes to work.”

“Bridget! We're talking about Travis okay?” I shoved a big bite of pancake into my mouth.

“ There's no way I could work there while Travis is her boyfriend. Hell, no. Besides, the man I told you about..”

“Mr Marcus?”

“Yes, we're going to meet later and he'll discuss the project. If I can help, I'll definitely get paid.” I said with my mouth full.

“But Hillary, you don't even know this man.”

“But he doesn't know me either.”

I deadpan and let out a hysterical laugh.

Bridget chuckled, “ you're a crazy witch.”

I gulped down a glass of water. “ I know Bridget, but you got to explore some things in life. You'll never know what might happen or how lucky you'll get.”

I paused.

“Explore like how you advised me to link up with Travis.” I stood up. “Thanks for breakfast.”

“Hey, you still hold a grudge against me?” Bridget yelled and I closed my ears.

“ I'm going out.” I yelled back.

“Hey!”

Bridget whined.

“I don't wanna be late for work okay.” I blew a kiss and left through the door.

Ohh. It's really beautiful today. Calm, breezy, bright and fair. I happily strolled smiling before hopping into a taxi.

It took a few minutes before the driver pulled up at the restaurant.

“Thank you sir.” I smiled after I paid him

“Good luck, miss. I hope you enjoy your time at work.”

Sweet soul. I waved at him and he zoomed off. The view of the building was tall. That's when I saw the interior design of the name.

‘Caster Foods.’

Hmm. That name was actually familiar. It seemed like I had heard the name, caster from somewhere. Where? I shrugged. Who cares anyways. All I knew was that I've gotten a job. That was all that mattered.

The door was pushed open for me by a security man. I went in straight to Candice who was handling a customer’s order.

“Hey.” I waved.

Her gum smacked. She looked at me and chewed again. Mascara shaded thickly on her eyelashes. Her eyeliner was heavy.

“Listen, if you're going to start working here, just get along and in pace with work. You know what I mean.”

She narrated and taught me everything I needed to know and that's when I started.

More customers came in. I was doing well, serving and taking orders. Everything was going very smoothly and more customers came in.

“Hillary, please could you help me with this order?” Candice asked.

“Sure, which one.”

“The table over there.” She pointed and my head followed. “ The guy sitting alone with a bodyguard.”

“Oh. Okay.”

I held the tray firmly. It was a menu of chicken and chips.

“Here is your order sir, I really hope you enjoy and…..oh my gosh!”

My mouth seized like a zipped up bag and the tray twisted from my hands, the whole content of food spilled down to the floor.

What was going on? How could he be here?

Travis.

“You again?”

I could feel my heart pounding. I never asked for this. All I wanted was to avoid this god-damned dude.

“Are you stalking me or something? What?” He chuckles, grimacing his face which held an unbelievable look. Believe me, Travis, I'm as shocked as you are.

“Stalk? Why…. what? Why would I do that and why are you even here.?”

“So you work here now.” He paused. “Chameleon.”

I gritted My teeth. “ Travis was going to make me do the unbelievable now.”

“Security! Security over here.” My squeaky voice commanded silence.

“Someone please take this man out of here.”

He was laughing this time and his supposed bodyguard or whatever laughed along. What was even funny. Gosh, why does he have to look this handsome. Gorgeous and cute.

“Hillary?!” Candice ran to me.

“Well, thank God you're here. This …..”

“What the hell are you doing? Do you know who this guy is?”

“I….”

“Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry she ruined your food. I'll get another one sir.” She bows her head.

Sir? Why Sir?

“Do you have any idea what you've done? We could get fired.” Candice gasped while I looked in confusion.

“What's going on here?”

I froze immediately when I saw the manager.

“Well, ma'am, you see, Hillary knocked down sir Travis meal.”

“Why are you so careless.?” She questioned and everyone was looking like it was a movie scene.

“It's fine. Just trash it away.” Travis cleared his throat.

“Hurry, get him another one.” She ordered Candice.

“Oh it's no need anymore. I have to attend a meeting already.” He stood up and a bouncer came from outside. “ I'd like to speak to you. Mrs manager.”

While his bouncer and bodyguard escorts him, she follows suit. Now it was time for an embarrassment show.

“ What happened to, ‘oh I'm such a hardworking and reliable person.’” Candice whispers, obviously disappointed.

I took a deep breath, “I… well, I'm so sorry, I wasn't focused and somehow everything fell to the floor.”

“And that's not all, Hillary.” She scowled. “ You even dare threaten him by calling security. Are you nuts?!”

I wanted to start crying. The thing is Travis is this guy i would have slept with but his girlfriend was my Boss which worsened things and I tried to avoid him which I couldn't.

“ It's not what you think.”

“Oh it's exactly what I think. I was watching you okay? He didn't harass you or anything. You suddenly screamed and threw the food away like you knew him before.” She eyes me.

“Do you know him?”

I was quiet.

“Exactly, why would a broke homeless person like you interact with the owner of this restaurant and a billionaire for heaven sake.”

Fuck You Candice. I should have never told you I didn't have a house. Wait what? Travis owns this restaurant?.

“Oh my God.” I covered my mouth in shock, shame, fear, anxiety and regret.

“Hillary!”

I turned to see my manager storming at me.

“Ma'am, I'm really really sorry for what happened. I assure you, it will never repeat itself again and…”

“I'm sorry Hillary. You have to leave.”

“What?” I could start hyperventilating any moment from now. “Okay fine, I'll pay for the food okay? Or you can deduct from my salary. It's definitely worth it.” I panicked.

“I don't think you understand. I would have done that. A Lot of workers here make terrible mistakes even far worse than yours but.” She bit her lips and continued. “ Sir Travis asked me to fire you.”

My hands were trembling.

“You have to leave and that's an order.”
